The first pair is 1 1/2 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches tall, brass; one of these has a locking mechanism, but it appears to be stuck-not corroded, just bent or something. Blackstone Hotel Door Hardware Backplate SET - 4 Cast Brass ANTIQUE 1909 CHICAGO
Here we have a set of 4 original cast brass door knob back plates from the Blackstone Hotel which was constructed in 1909 in Chicago. This set was heavily painted so we cleaned them using a wire brush which has resulted in a shiny backplate. These were made by Yale& Towne. Each of these have unique wear. So please reference the pictures and ask any questions you may have. Three of these have have little circles for a lock twist which I assume means they were room side back plates. One of them has a traditional skeleton key hole, which I assume was on the hall side of the door. These are 11 1/8" long and 3" wide at the widest point. It is found in good used condition and is made of metal, either copper or brass. This does not attract a magnet. I have a nice lot of old. Mostly heavy cast brass period door knob rosettes for your consideration. Most of these come to you in very nice reusable condition. There are 31 in this lot. There are 4 pressed steel, 1 cast iron, and the rest are brass, of which most of them are cast brass. pic 10 shows the 5 rosettes that are not brass. These were designed for the early skeleton key mortise lock applications. There are a number of different manufacturers and many matching pairs or sets. Antique Ornate Victorian Brass Door Knob Rosette Backplate,Eastlake,old hardware
This is an old door knob backplate or rosette. This pretty piece of antique door hardware is made of cast brass. It has a simple repeating geometric pattern that is very decorative. It is 1 15/16 inches in diameter. There are two countersunk mounting holes. At the bottom or back. The center hole is 7/16 inches in diameter. At the top it is 11/16 inch in diameter. This rosette is lovely but is not flat. You can see this in the last two photos.

Antique Pair Architectural Door Backplate Hardware Brass Plated Art Deco Era
Up for auction is an antique vintage pair of Art Deco era architectural door backplates recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. They are found in good used condition and is made of metal, brass or gold color plated. They do attract a magnet. It features a hole for the door knob and a slot for the key. Each plate has two mounting holes. These backplates measures approximately 6 1/8" x 1 5/8" in size. It has a very tarnished surface. Much of the brass colored surface is gone.
