GORGEOUS Lot ONATE Vtg Old Antique Door Knob Backplate Bronze Copper Brass
This is a BEAUTIFUL lot of 2 really heavy ornate door knobs and 2 ornate backplates. I'm not sure what they're made out of, but they have a coppery bronzy color to them. They're in good vintage condition with some surface wear and tarnish and are very grimy and dirty but will look stunning polished out or you can enjoy them with their wonderful aged patina.there are no cracks or breaks.please view pictures for any further description/condition. The backplates measure 5 1/2" tall and the knobs are approximately 2 1/2" wide. D on't forget to take a look at all my other unique vintage hardware I have listed as well. Bidding on this vintage pair of antique back plates. they are brass but have a copper tone to them. The knob in the last photo is not included. Just to give you an idea of what it could look like with proper knobs. These knobs I have as a seperate auction. There are knobs on line that are brass beaded. I don't have any at this time. The plates are about 9" long and 3" at the widest point. the inside hole for the knob is 3/4" outside. Then beveels in to 5/8" If your knob has a base rim of 3/4 or larger it will REST on the rim of the plate. If it is 5/8 it will sit in the rim.

Good old vintage cast iron is stronger and harder than the new soft reproduction stuff they make in modern hinges. Likely cast in the last 1880's to the early 1900's. These have a nice sharp. Antique Door Knob Copper Iron Steel Oval Beaded Crown Plate Escutcheon Keyhole
Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Oval Beaded Doorknob Plate w/Crown& Acanthus Motifs. Regal. Antique door escutcheon made sometime during the first half of the previous century. It's made of stamped steel, and has a lovely oval form with beaded trim and a crown motif above the knob collar and acanthus leaf motif below the keyhole. Originally. The escutcheon was was completely copper plated and finished with a black lacquer(Japanned" However, some of the lacquer and some of the copper wore off over the years, leaving the parts with a nice, distressed, finish. The plate has been cleaned of paint. Dirt, and build up, leaving some of the patina within the crevices and around the details to enhance the beauty of its design. The beauty of the plate is only equaled by its impeccable condition! There are no breaks. Cracks, chips, dents, ... moregouges, or deep scratches. The details are sharp and crisp with no signs of wear. Oval beaded plates are extremely common. And we've sold hundreds over the years. 1890s Antique Door Knob Back Plates PAIR Fancy Victorian Brass/Copper? AS IS
Here is a good pair of door knob plates. They do match altho it may be hard to tell because of the paint on the 1. I'm guessing these are brass but the one that is stripped is more of a copper color, neither is magnetic. This same design is on homes around here from the 1890s up to about 1910. The length is 5 13/16 in. x 1 15/16 in. They will be carefully packed& sent in a box. Questions welcome.

Antique Eastlake copper door knob & iron copper washed back plate escutcheon
Included in this auction is a very old possibly Eastlake copper door knob with a matching iron with copper wash backplate or escutcheon. Both pieces are in excellent. Antique condition with darkening in the relief areas and fantastic old penny patina on the design. The escutcheon measures about 5 1/4 inches long and just about 1 5/8 inches wide. The door knob measures about 2 1/4 inches wide. These are beautiful. Warm pieces that my camera does not do justice to. There are 3 numbers on the back of the escutcheon but I can't really make them out. To me. The knob feels like solid copper, not copper washed.
