These nails have a glass face with a star decoration underneath. The larger nail(with green star) measures about 1 1/8” across. The other two are about 7/8” across. From 1961 to 1968(graduated from high school) we played in the barn that these spikes came from. When the barn was torn down in 1975. I collected these along with many oak barn beams. In 1976 I built an apartment full of furniture using the sliced up barn beams. I thought that I might some day use the metal spikes somehow? Now I am downsizing my material possessions. Like hard joining pins, they are used for bolts and hooks where vertical strength is required. You'll need a few basic tools: Needle nose pliers(recommended- but any type of pliers will do. Hammer, Drill bit(same width as the pin you're going to install) Power drill, Installation of Soft Joining Pins For this example. We've chosen a classic fish pull to install. Drill a hole the same width as the pin. In this example we're drilling a 1/4" hole for a 1/4" wide pin. Assemble your piece of hardware and insert in the hole. Using the needle nose pliers.
