There are two metal plates, one for each side of a door. Made by Sargent& Co. 3rd photo shows their mark. It weighs over 6 pounds! The piece with the handle has been repaired, but it was very well done- with some type of stabllizer on the back. Somehow, it just ads to its character and shows the age rather well. Victorian 8" Brass Bronze Escutcheon Doorplates Pr Door Knobs, Sargent & Co Lock
Here is a complete set(except for the key) of a Victorian door set.two escutcheon plates. Sargent& Co. lock, both door knobs with the center shaft. The door plates are 8-1/4" high and 2-1/4" in width. The knobs are 2-1/4" and both have the patterns embossed on them. I'm not certain if these are brass or bronze- they are not magnetic. But definitely would look fantastic if they were cleaned. I can't find any cracks or breaks- the set is in very good condition. Lot of 4 old brass door knob back plates. Manufactured by Sargent&Co. But actual age unknown. Very good used condition. Should polish up real nice or use as is. They are all the same style pattern( 845TM) but each one has a different lock accommodation. One has a turn buckle, one looks like it had a turn buckle at one time, one has a skeleton key hole, and one has a large round hole( 1 1/2 inches) for a lock mechanism. Mixed Lot Brass Sargent & Co. AG #7943 Door Plates Hardware and Avallon #P410
This item is bein g offered f or your bid: A Mixed Lot of Brass Sargent& Co. AG#7943 Door Plates/ Hardware and one Avallon#P410 with thumb button. I have only used a hair bristle brush and tried to remove most of the loose dirt and dust. I have not cleaned or polished any of the items in this auction(what you see is what you get) The overall length of each Sargent part is 18-1/4" The width is about 3-1/2" and the thickness is about 3/16" Three of the Sargent parts are about flat while the other Sargent parts have some bends which I did not try to straighten. The Sargent with two holes has bends near the holes and one hole has a crack that is about 1/2" long. The single Avallon part is#P410 with the same dimensions as the Sargents. Offered is a vintage door backplate from Sargent& Co. done in a victorian style design. And made of brass. It features a dolphin and shell motif on the top of the plate and a cherub on the bottom. The piece measures about 11.25" long x 3& 3/8" wide at the widest point. It is marked"Sargent& Co. and the letters"PW" on the back. Note: Victorian" As used in this listing, is refering to the style, not the age of the backplate. I do not know it's exact age, but it was acquired at an estate auction in a large lot of vintage and antique hardware. CONDITION USED- VINTAGE The backplate is in good condition with tarnish/patina. Up for your consideration are 2 very nice Vintage ornate brass skeleton key door plates. On the back both are stamped SARGENT& CO AC 725 725 727. Plates measures a little over 7" long and 2 3/8" wide. Each Weighs about 6 ozs. As you can see the plates do have paint on them.Why would someone paint such a nice plate.These are not a cheap thin plate but a older plate made with some thickness. Restoration piece. Antique Rim lock with dead bolt and catch, cast iron, Sargent & Co. Small
We are offering an Antique Rim Lock for a door that is ready to go if you add a standard square shaft(antique) and knobs. There is a slide latch to work the deadbolt which works as it should. The door latch also works fine using a screw driver since I cannot seem to find any of the old square shafts. The catch which goes on the opposite door jamb is also included- I am not certain that it is made for this lock. But it is the correct size. I am unsure how it goes on.
