These hardware items were originally purchased by my uncle in the 1930’s; but never used. He was a carpenter by trade and built many beautiful homes. I have clasiified all these items as used; since I did not buy them originally. It is possible that there is some discoloring of metals or flaws over the years. I am no expert on cleaning these up. Being offered at auction. A MATCHED PAIR of door knob back plates that are Victorian in style- either antique or vintage. They are polished cast bronze and brass and are for a mortise type lock. They have a nice patina and were purchased by the seller 12 years ago for our home being built- and they ended up not fitting our style home. Pair of antique bronze thumb latch handles and backing plates. I believe these would have been a set for double doors. Handle#1(offset to the right) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. There are 5 mounting holes. The down side to this one is the thumb latch part. It is not original. Somewhere along the way it was replaced with an iron one. But it is still in very functional condition. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with 2 rivites.Slight bending along the length of the plate. Handle#2(offset to the left) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. Ther are 8 mounting holes, I believe 5 are original the other 3 were added. Also all have been redrilled to counter sink the screws. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with nuts instead of rivets. One 6 1/2" X 2 1/4" inside plate both in the Eastlake Ornate Victorian Cast Solid Bronze Egg& Dart pattern and two solid bronze door knobs measuring 2 1/2" diameter. One cast bronze Mortisse door lock. Items in very good working condition with expected age wear(large plate has a couple dings, some surface scratches noted, smaller plate needs a knob ring) please see photos. Gorgeous antique patina. Here are a pair of antique cast iron door push plates that are marked"Chatham" 7520" on the back. Either the model# and maker or model# and style. They measure 11" long by 3" wide at the widest part and are unusual in that they are made of cast iron rather than brass or bronze. Nice intricate Art Nouveau or Classical style. The house that they came out of in Lexington. NE was built in 1901. Very heavy- the pair weighs 1 pound 10 ounces. A great finish to your home.
