Vintage Antique door knob back plates Brass copper beaded rim
Bidding on this vintage pair of antique back plates. they are brass but have a copper tone to them. The knob in the last photo is not included. Just to give you an idea of what it could look like with proper knobs. These knobs I have as a seperate auction. There are knobs on line that are brass beaded. I don't have any at this time. The plates are about 9" long and 3" at the widest point. the inside hole for the knob is 3/4" outside. Then beveels in to 5/8" If your knob has a base rim of 3/4 or larger it will REST on the rim of the plate. If it is 5/8 it will sit in the rim.

Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of 3"x10" Antique Cleaned Copper/Steel Push Plates. Handsome. Antique push plates salvaged from Northeastern Ohio. They are made of solid steel and have beveled edges. Originally. The plates were copper plated, however, only one of the plates retained almost all of it's plating and the other on retained only a little. The little amount of copper gives the plate a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. The plates were found dirty and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned, oiled, and polished them to the best of our ability. Considering that the pieces were probably touched hundreds or even thousands of times. They are in great shape. Here is a good pair of door knob plates. They do match altho it may be hard to tell because of the paint on the 1. I'm guessing these are brass but the one that is stripped is more of a copper color, neither is magnetic. This same design is on homes around here from the 1890s up to about 1910. Rectangular in shape. This is for two(2) simple antique door plates. Restoration involved stripping paint. Light sanding, and the application of a metal ager to achieve a shade of gray patina. Offered are 2 MATCHING ANTIQUE DOOR PUSH PLATES. I have not cleaned them as many people prefer the old patina. I'm not an expert on the metal. I thought they were copper but the embossing has a golden glow. They may be bronze or a combination of metals. ANTIQUE. used. NOT CLEANED.They have very little use marks and have a nice Patina. I don't know the material. They have a copper glow in the center flat part. The EMBOSSED DESIGN has a bronze glow. The backs are dark with the copper color showing through in places. Cleaned Pair 2.5"x10" Antique Copper Steel Swinging Door Beveled Push Plates
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of 2.5"x10" Antique Cleaned Copper-plated Steel Push Plates. Elegant. Antique push plates salvaged from Northeastern Mississippi. They are made of solid wrought steel and have beveled edges. Originally. The plates were copper plated, but some of the copper wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. The plates were found dirty and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned them to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. There are still a few spots of rust here and there, but that only enhances their distressed look. Considering that the pieces were probably touched hundreds or even thousands of times. these were removed from a very old house so are not mint. They measure 5 ½” tall by 1 5/8” wide. 5 show remnants of their copper coating and one looks to be all copper. I am offering this vintage or antique pair of ornate Victorian door knob cover plates that are about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide. The hole for the door knob(measuring from the back where the hole is smaller) is about 9/16 inch in diameter. I'm almost certain that they are solid copper because they do not attract a magnet. If not. They are probably brass with a copper wash. They are in good condition except for all the dirt and patina darkening that some people really like.
