They are a little bent along the edges, they could probably be straightened out. There are 3 plates that match and the 4th one is close, with the only difference being the ribbed design on the top and bottom edge are rounded rather than straight across. Beautiful Original Antique Brass Push Plates for Swinging Door
Two fantastic antique brass push plates. NOT reproductions. These are the real deal. I gave one a v quick polish with Maas and it shined up in 90 seconds. Another couple of minutes and it would be blinding. Three inches wide and eleven and three-quarters inches long. The plates are thin and light but not so then that the bend. Thick enough that the pattern cannot be flattened. I cannot tell if they are brass over copper or solid brass. The back appears to be copper but I don;t believe only one side could be plated. In any case the fronts have no metal or colors showing through except for brass. The screw holes hace a bit of vertigris green but that is leftver from the screws that held it to the door. I had this on my kitchen door for eight or ten years. They stayed shiny. There are a few dings. Offered are 2 MATCHING ANTIQUE DOOR PUSH PLATES. I have not cleaned them as many people prefer the old patina. I'm not an expert on the metal. I thought they were copper but the embossing has a golden glow. They may be bronze or a combination of metals. ANTIQUE. used. NOT CLEANED.They have very little use marks and have a nice Patina. I don't know the material. They have a copper glow in the center flat part. The EMBOSSED DESIGN has a bronze glow. The backs are dark with the copper color showing through in places. They measure about 11 1/2" x almost 3" They are heavy. 2 holes for screws(not included) on each plate. The back is marked and number on the back of each is 2419. Up for auction- 4 antique Victorian brass finger push plates for a swinging door. These are being offered"as is as found" we have left the age acquired verdi gris patina. Will leave any polishing to the new owners if they should so choose. These are from the early 1900's and are in good condition. They are all brass- a magnet will not stick. Each has a hole in the corners for mounting. Two are a match- same size and design- the ribbing is straight- these two measure about 8 inches by 3 inches. The third one is the same size but the ribbing is arched at the top and bottom. The last one is a bit shorter- measures 7 3/4 inches by 3 1/8 inches, the ribbing is straight across. Estate found early twentieth century French porcelain door push plates plus one light switch cover and two key hole covers. All six items have a French sky/celeste blue ground with center cartouches filled with hand-painted floral rose bouquets outlined with ornate gold gilt accents. The push plates measure 7” long x 2-1/4” wide x 1/4” deep/thick. The light switch plate/cover measures 4-1/2” long x 2-3/4” wide x 1/4” thick(has a 1” ling x 3/8” wide opening in the center) and the keyhole covers measure 2-3/8” long x 3/4” wide x 1/4” thick. Note: the porcelain blanks for the push plates are identical, the painting on two is very similar/nearly identical, the third is clearly by the same artist’s hand but has a different shape to the cartouche. The back of the light switch cover is marked in a cobalt blue cursive script: France Hand Painted” see photo) Very good condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, breaks, touch-ups or repairs.
