2 antique/ vintage **brass toned** **door knob back plates** 1920's/30's
This auction is for a pair of rectangular antique door plates. These doorplates are plated steel- a magnet does stick to them. The coating is a brass color. With some darkening toward"antique" brass. These w ould have been used with an old. Large mortise-type lockset and skeleton key- neither is included. The plates measure 8" high x 2 1/2" wide. T he spacing from the center of the knob hole to the center of the round portion of the skeleton key hole is 2 1/4" I believe these door knob back plates were manufactured and sold in the 1920's and/ or 1930's. Possibly even the teens. But I wasn't around back then, so I can't say for sure. These plates are in very nice condition. I think they are"new old stock" they came from an auction of items from an old. Closed hardware store. I believe them ... moreto be unused- t here is no paint or varnish on them, no scratches or marks in or around the screw holes from screws having been put in or removed. And no wear marks inside the holes(ferrules) for the door knobs to show they have been in use. There are some small scratches. Etc from many, many years in storage and imperfect handling through the decades. I have only just washed them with soap and water. I received the plates as you see them- I do NOT have any knobs or screws to go with them- sorry. This auction is for only TWO door knob back plates. Photography is not one of my strong points. Antique/Vintage Brass Door Plates(2) w Keyholes& Two Doorknobs Powered by Offered here is a pair of Antique Brass Door Plates w/ keyholes with two Brass Doorknobs. The brass door plates are both the same. They measure approx 6½" tall and 2¼" across at the widest point. The mounting screw holes are 5-5/8" apart. The bottom of each skeleton keyhole on each plate is 2¼" above the bottom screw hole. The center of the hole for a doorknob on each plate is 1½" below the top screw hole. Both door plates are in used condition. And one is bent near the keyhole. I believe it could be molded back into shape, but I will leave this up to the buyer. They need to be cleaned and polished; there are darkened areas and patina. The backs of the plates really show their age.with darkening, patina and paint. The ... moreBrass Doorknobs are not a matched set. One is very ornate with a knobby patchwork& daisy pattern surrounded by a pie-crust edging. This looks to be in good condition for its old age. There are some minor dents and light patina. This knob has the shaft attached. The second knob is just smooth brass and does not have a shaft. The antique brass on this one has areas that are lighter in color-the polish may have worn off with use. Each knob measures about 2½" in diameter. This is truly a great set. The knobs measure about 2.5 inches in length by about 1.5 inches wide. The door face plates have a very similar design to the knobs and are a nice match. The shaft that holds the knobs is starting to split. The plates measure about 2 1/4 inches in width by about 7 inches in length. Please see the pictures and my store for many more great items.

Verocchio Bronze 20" 2 Door Plates Handle Locks Keys Mfg. Russell Erwin Antique DESCRIPTION For sale is a great pair of antique bronze door plates manufactured by Russell& Erwin in the 1890's. The pattern is Verocchio which was from the Italian Renaissance School of Design. The two plates have a detailed leaf pattern and are of heavy cast bronze. The dimensions are 20 inches by 3 1/4 inch. They are marked on the back P410 Verocchio and have the Russell& Erwin logo with U.S.A. I do have two locks that fit the plates with five keys that will operate the two locks and one matching bronze handle. The handle is 8 1/4 inches in total length. Pair of antique bronze thumb latch handles and backing plates. I believe these would have been a set for double doors. Handle#1(offset to the right) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. There are 5 mounting holes. The down side to this one is the thumb latch part. It is not original. Somewhere along the way it was replaced with an iron one. But it is still in very functional condition. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with 2 rivites.Slight bending along the length of the plate. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of 3"x12" Antique"Russwin" Cast Bronze Door Push Plates. Elegant. Antique, push plates made by"Russwin" of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. Each plate is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not plated iron. The edges of each plate have a lovely. Curved bevel, which adds a level of depth and boldness to their classic designs. Russwin called this design, Enfield. We acquired these push plates about 4 years ago. When we removed them from a pair of schoolhouse doors, which we stripped down to the bare wood(see last photo) The plates were painted, heavily tarnished, and dirty. We spent much time cleaning and polishing them to restore them to their original splendor. We didn't post them separately on eBay in case the buyer of the doors wanted to keep ... morethem with the doors. The customer wanted knobs instead, so her loss is now your opportunity! Since we cleaned them 4 years ago, they have developed a very subtle patina, which only adds a degree of warmth to their natural, bronze color. Although they have keyholes. The doors that we removed them from didn't have a lock. However, we do have a, Russwin, mortise lock with bronze faceplate that we could sell for an additional $25. It's a sophisticated lock with 4 tumblers(most antique locks only have 1 tumbler! Since we make keys by hand, the more tumblers a lock has the greater the difficulty and longer the process to make a key. We could make keys for the lock for $15/key. VTG Antique Set - 2 Brass or Copper Door Knob Back Plates/ Face Plates
They are bent in at the door handle hole. I think they can easily be straighten? I have lots of other door accessories on ebay now.

Antique door hardware. 2 knobs, 2 plates, latch assy. that works., No key.
I have a nice antique set consisting of 2 porcelain knobs. Back plates and a working latch assembly. The spring is good. The back plates have been cleaned but the latch assy has no and it is painted black and is steel. The back plates are about 7 inches high and 2 1/4 inches wide. The porcelain knobs have some pitting in the porcelain. I do not have keys for these assys. This set is not reproductions. Look in the reproduction catalog and see what they cost.
