This is a set of six 6 Victorian Back Plates. They are in as found condition They measure 7 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches They are a matched set. I am not sure of the metal. They are sturdy and slightly heavy. There is some surface rust on the back of some of these. The front of some of these have a copper finish or hints of a copper finish. They need some work. But this is a very nice matched set of 6. Bidding on this vintage pair of antique back plates. they are brass but have a copper tone to them. The knob in the last photo is not included. Just to give you an idea of what it could look like with proper knobs. These knobs I have as a seperate auction. There are knobs on line that are brass beaded. I don't have any at this time. The plates are about 9" long and 3" at the widest point. the inside hole for the knob is 3/4" outside. Then beveels in to 5/8" If your knob has a base rim of 3/4 or larger it will REST on the rim of the plate. If it is 5/8 it will sit in the rim.

I'm guessing these are brass but the one that is stripped is more of a copper color, neither is magnetic. This same design is on homes around here from the 1890s up to about 1910. Cleaned Pair 2.5"x10" Antique Copper Steel Swinging Door Beveled Push Plates
Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of 2.5"x10" Antique Cleaned Copper-plated Steel Push Plates. Elegant. Antique push plates salvaged from Northeastern Mississippi. They are made of solid wrought steel and have beveled edges. Originally. The plates were copper plated, but some of the copper wore off over the years leaving them with a nice, distressed finish. At the point of salvage. The plates were found dirty and rusty(see last photo) Since then, we've cleaned them to the best of our ability, trying to preserve as much of the plating as possible. THERE ARE 3 VERY OLD DOOR PLATES HERE, FROM RIGHT TO LEFT THAY ARE AS FOLLOWS, 5 1/8 X 1 9/16 I THINK IT BRASS ITS STAMPED 1850 ON BACK( SEE PHOTO) THE CENTER IS ALSO BRASS AND IS 5 3/8 X 1 1/8 INCH ITS A LITTLE BENT AROUND THE KEY HOLE IT COULD BE GENTLY HAMMERED BACK TO SHAPE IF YOU WANTED TO, THE LAST ONE LOOKS LIKE COPPER? ITS 1 7/8 X 5 1/8, IT HAS A MAKERS MARK STAMPED ON IT, IT ALSO HAS A SMALL CRACK ON THE EDGE( SEE LAST PHOTO) BUT ITS STILL SOLID. THESE ARE VERY OLD AND DECORITIVE PIECES. And the last one has no finish left on it. That one was probably on an exterior door. The color of the finish is a copper color. The raised design is very Eastlake style. Up for sale are Two Vintage Brass Plated Over Copper Door Knob Back Plates These brass plated door knob back plates has areas of the brass plating worn off and the copper showing through. Well aged patina on the brass, some greenish tarnish on the front surface, some light scratches on most surfaces, some small dents and some normal wear from years of service. The smaller back plate is bent downward for the bottom 1/3 of the plate around the key hole. This larger back plate measures 9" long x 2 1/2" wide and the smaller one measures 7" long x 2 1/4" wide. I am offering this vintage or antique pair of ornate Victorian door knob cover plates that are about 8 inches long and 2 inches wide. The hole for the door knob(measuring from the back where the hole is smaller) is about 9/16 inch in diameter. I'm almost certain that they are solid copper because they do not attract a magnet. If not. They are probably brass with a copper wash. They are in good condition except for all the dirt and patina darkening that some people really like.
