Antique Branford Lock Works Cast Iron Rim Lock Marbled Door Knob Pat 1863
We were lucky enough to get many items from the attic of an old home in downtown Louisville. This is a really cool old door knob that someone told me is called a rim lock. We don't have a key and you will need to put a screw in one of the knobs to keep it from falling off since the screw is missing. The deadbolt is in the lock but it looks like the latch isn't there. The old lock is embossed with the marking BLW for Branford Lock Works and a patent date of 1863. I dont' know what the knob is made of but it looks like some kind of brown swirled marble and there is a small chip on one of the knobs that you should be able to see in the picture. The old cast iron should clean up nicely and make a great piece for an old home.

antique cast iron rim lock porcelain doorknobs skeleton key door knob backplates
I have an old cast iron surface rim lock with catch for your consideration. Included are a pair of porcelain doorknobs. Doorknob rosette, ornate skeleton key backplateand standard 1/4 inch driverod with a couple set screws for the knobs. The latch mechanism engages and disengages with drive gear and the lever lock locks latch. I do not have a key for deadbolt slide so I do not know if it works. Upon opening everything seems to be in order if you find a key or have one made. See pic of inside and you make your decision. Can be used without deadbolt as is. There is quite a bit of original black paint along with other residual paint and finish from over the years. Questions welcome otherwise what you see is what you get. Eastlake Ornate Brass and Iron Rim Lock Door Hardware, PYE , 1869
Eastlake Style Door Hardware. Ornate Brass and Iron. Marked PYE Co. Patent March 30. 1869. This has knobs, back plate for door, but unfortunately no keeper. The switch lock functions and the knobs turned easily when it was put together. I think the knobs are pottery as they are not magnetic. They have some grooves and flaws in the manufacturing of them. The Rim lock is 3 3/8 inches wide, 4 5/8 high and 13/16 deep on the latch side, 5/8 inches on the other. The latch side phlanges out. This does have areas of paint and maybe some varnish on it. The back plate for the door has been painted brown. It is 2 1/8 inches square. Unfortunately there is not a key for it or the keeper. I believe that a keeper could be found here on Ebay.
