Pair of antique bronze thumb latch handles and backing plates. I believe these would have been a set for double doors. Handle#1(offset to the right) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. There are 5 mounting holes. The down side to this one is the thumb latch part. It is not original. Somewhere along the way it was replaced with an iron one. But it is still in very functional condition. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with 2 rivites.Slight bending along the length of the plate. Handle#2(offset to the left) Nice overall condition with no cracks or breaks. Ther are 8 mounting holes, I believe 5 are original the other 3 were added. Also all have been redrilled to counter sink the screws. On the back of the plate the handle is held on with nuts instead of rivets. Here are a pair of antique cast iron door push plates that are marked"Chatham" 7520" on the back. Either the model# and maker or model# and style. They measure 11" long by 3" wide at the widest part and are unusual in that they are made of cast iron rather than brass or bronze. Nice intricate Art Nouveau or Classical style. The house that they came out of in Lexington. NE was built in 1901. Very heavy- the pair weighs 1 pound 10 ounces. A great finish to your home. Each plate is made of solid, heavy, thick, cast bronze, not plated iron. Each plate has a round hole to accommodate a standard 1 1/8" thick mortise cylinder. A mortise cylinder is not required to simply install the plates and use them as push plates. However. If you like to use them with a functional lock, you will need 2 mortise cylinders, a mortise lock, and a strike plate. We are selling a complete set and we included a photo of it at the bottom of this auction to show you how these additional parts look like.
