Auction is for one(1) solid brass doorplate. Escutcheon, back-plate, made by Sargent&Co. Looks like it was painted but there is barely any left. There is a number that reads 7876. Up for auction is a great Antique York& Towne Solid Brass Ornate Victorian Backplate. There are three heavy coats of paint on the front of the door plate and the original aged patina on the bronze surface on the back of the door plate. There are a few light scratched on the back new the center hole. The model or part# FP-862 is cast on the back as well as the trademark Y&T logo. The paint can easily be removed with paint stripper and the bronze can be polished if desired. It measures 8 3/4" long x 2 1/4" wide x 3/16" thk. Stock# K-536. Payment is by Paypal only. Set Decorative ANTIQUE DOOR KNOB PULL Ornate BACKPLATE FACE BRASS PLATES Vtg Pr Antique pair of decorative door knob backplates. Both are solid brass. They are identical plates. The one has a slight divot where the knob would be attached. I'm sure that it could easily be tapped level when placed on a strong solid surface. They're from the late 1800's to early 1900's era. 8-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 1/4" thick at the raised decorative ends. Please enlarge all pictures to see the condition and details the best. Antique Ornate Victorian Cast Iron Door Knob Rosette Backplate, old Eastlake
This is an old door knob backplate or rosette. This pretty piece of antique door hardware is made of cast iron. It has a simple repeating geometric pattern that is very decorative. It is 1 7/8 inches in diameter. There are two countersunk mounting holes. At the bottom or back. The center hole is 7/16 inches in diameter. At the top it is 21/32 inch in diameter.
