The 4 X 4" size is hard to find since they were usually only put on front doors of the house which also wore them out. Good olde vintage cast iron is stronger and harder than the new soft reproduction stuff they make in modern hinges. Likely cast in the late 1880's to the early 1900's. These have a nice sharp. Clean and fancy casting. The pattern is also on the back of the hinge knuckle and shows when the door is closed. The hinges were stripped of all the paint and wire brushed. The hinges were sprayed with clear acrylic lacquer finish made by Sherwin Williams that is specially made for cast iron and exterior applications. This is a better ... morefinish than a hardware store spray paint. This clear finish has superior scratch and water resistance. They are 5 5/8" long from tip to tip and they are 4" wide laying open.
