Rare Old Violin Bow and French Vuillaume Rosin
Rare Violin Bow and Vuillaume Rosin. I have no idea when the bow was made and by whom but it clearly has the same logo as the Vuillaume rosin. The rosin has never been used. All parts of the bow seem to be original and the current weight is 44.5 grams. No cracks I can see. The bow has the most beautiful screw. Clearly an upgrade from the usual screw. To me, this is a French bow, from one of the many Vuillaume bowmakers, pernambucco wood, 19th Century. I don't have the time(nor money) to bring it to a big city shop so. I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown ... morein pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. I've had this in my closet for years. It's in great condition since I bought it new and wanted to learn to play but never really got around to it. This violin was with other violins as you see in my feedbacks that been sold. Which we bought along with many other things from the house. About this violin: It seems like the top plate was repaired before. There is 4 repaired cracks on top plate as I see(2 on the top plate/ on the left f hole and looks like repaired long time ago and I don’t see open seem, 2very small hair line cracks by the right f hole which look like repaired and I don’t see open seem(=almost invisible) please look at my pictures see in my pictures. There is one small chips on the scroll and one on the corner ... moreof top plate on the lower right as you see in my pictures. I do not see any open crack or open seem! The neck is in good condition and attached to the violin body. The plastic on the tip is cracked. The violin is used with scratches. Scuffs and nicks. The machine head tuners appear to be in good shape. Fingerboard has some wear. The tailpiece, chin rest and bridge each appear to be in good shape with some wear. There are no discernible cracks, aside from some old separation at some edges that have been long since glued. Up for sale is a very nice vintage full size violin. I believe this is a german strat copy but it is a very nice violin and it sounds amazing. It is even all across the strings and it has a new set of prim strings on it. It has plenty of volume in my opinion and well I cant describe its sound other than it has a beutiful well matured voice that can only come from an aged instrument. It has no issues or cracks that I can see it. It has a nice dark finish to the wood. The violin came from Portugal from a reputable violin dealer. It has no label inside but I feel like it is probably german from around the turn of the century. Some warping and issue at the bottom side where the tailpin goes in and will need a new pin. Sound pegs don't completely match and look to have been adjusted. Needs strings. A fine old pernambuco Violin Bow, very nice condition, size 4/4
U p for auction is this beautifully made 4/4 size violin bow. In very good condition. It does not have a stamp of the maker or country of origin, but I would guess Europe, most likely Germany. The length is 28.75" and there are no cracks or repairs. Round stick. With a very slight bend that could be straightened if needed(see photo) but playable as is. The stick has a lovely rich reddish-brown finish, unblemished, and appears to be pernambuco. There is a small non-structural chip in the wood at the end next to the nut(see photo) It's a flexible and lively stick. The tip and tip plate are in excellent condition. The tip plate is either bone or ivory. Having some visible grain to it. The bow needs to be re-haired, and will make a fine advanced student or semi-professional musician's bow. We purchased it from Gold's Violins in Houston for $1500- Mr. Phillip Gold only selects top-notch violins to sell. He describes it as European Tone wood with an Italian spirit. Good Quality Full size old Violin bow. Bow is made from good old stiff wood. Bow weighs about 51 grams without hair and wrapping. Bow length is exactly 29 inches from tip to end of bow screw. Frog is original and in nice shape. Stick is in good shape as well. The bow is marked"VUILLAUME a PARIS" This will make a super nice bow once rehaired. One thing that gets me is that this is a very large Violin. From tip ... moreto tip its about 26 inches. Thats rather large and is over the standard 23 inches most full size are. Just the body itself measures 16" this does not include the neck. Widest part of the body measures 9 inches. The body shows normal use on the outside with some scuffs and knicks around the rounded corners, mostly just typical travel and play wear. Neck is still straight and the unit is solid. One string is broken but i am sure you will restring it when it arrives. Look at the pictures to get an idea of the condition. I see no real cracks in the body. There is some light laquer cracking/crazing and some scuffs in the paint, but thats just pretty much cosmetic. Bow is not marked but has several pieces of hair missing. The bow has a mother of pearl inlay, the end knob will turn but will not adjust the bow. Has lacquer wear spots. Please take a moment to look at my other great auctions. Antique Robert Glier Violin Pernambuco Bow Auburt Bridge GSB Wood Coffin Case Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a antique 1800's Robert Glier Violin. Pernambuco wood bow, and GSB coffin case. I believe its full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/8" wide at widest point. I was told its from 1894 and the case is pat 1888 so that seems to be probable. It is missing one string and probably needs a little TLC it has not been played in years. The wood has some age wear and patina the back has a nice tiger stripe grain it seems to have good sound and be of good quality but I'll leave that to the experts to decide. The inside sticker is marked Robert Glier manufacturer no 1831. Cincinnati 1894. The bow is a pernambuco wood looks similar to high dollar names I've seen on ebay like WE Hill and sons ... morebut its not marked, it has tape on one spot not sure if this is holding it together or if it was just put there to cushion the hold. The violin is either 3/4 or full size(see photo with ruler) Inside is printed"Johamm Georg Kessler. West Germany. It has been in storage for approx last 20 years. All parts are there. With chin rest and bow. The bow has new hair. There are four(4) strings-they seem all different, but not sure what note. The violin has minor useage chips on top. But no obvious cracks or scratches. The case is metal reinforced with two storage compartments and room for two bows. The case is in good condition-no dents. No scratches, no sign of heavy wear. The overall weight is about five(6) pounds.

Full Size Pernambuco Violin Bow Stamped"BAUSCH" This bow is 730 mm long including the screw and weighs 68.9 gm. It has new hair. Lapping, leather grip. The frog has Parisienne eyes to the sides and the fittings are nickel silver with mother of pearl dot to the end of the screw. The bow has been cleaned and polished and has no splits or damage. The slide,screw,eye and tenon are clean and work smoothly. The stick is round pernambuco dark brown in colour and ready to play. Whilst a bit on the heavy side for a violin bow this is a responsive, well balanced bow that plays well and solidly on the string with good feel, some spring and tone. Good Quality Full size ANTIQUE Violin bow. Bow is made from old stiff wood. Bow weighs about 53 grams without hair and wrapping. Bow length is exactly 29 inches from tip to end of bow screw. Frog is original and in nice shape. Stick is in good shape as well with no cracks. The bow is faintly marked"DURRO" This will make a very good bow once rehaired. Should be a fairly stout stick that will produce strong tones. Should be about 59 or 60 grams once haired and wrapped. Shipping is $12 in a tube to USA. Overseas is $25. I have for sale an antique violin. With bow and case. This is a 3/4 size violin. There are no maker's tag. However the tag inside the body says: Repared by Harry Dean 1896 London I'm guessing the violin is at least that old(1896) because of the patina and construction. There are scratches. This is a good straight violin bow with nice back curve. it weighs approx 50 grams as shown. it has a name that is hard to read it may be tourte.It has nice age and will need a clean,new hair, and the button has split but still works, the fog slides well. the stick has the head shown 2.3 cms long x 9.5 mm wide at the sole x 2.2 cms deep,sold for repair. sorry i should have added the stick is approx 73.9 cms long. the frog measures 4.5 cms x 1.3cms x 2 cms the wood is a rich dark red/ brown finish with a large build up of rosin left in place as found. i have just listed a silver mounted bow for repair i combine postage. An old Violin Bow most likely from The Jerome Thibouville-Lamy workshop. The round stick is Bois D`Abeille wood of a red/brown colour. The frog is ebony. Mounted in Mailllechort(French nickel/silver) with pearl eyes and slide and semi circular where it meets the stick. The adjuster is ebony with two rings and pearl eye.
