Vintage Pre-War E H Roth Violin, copy of Earl of Wilton Amati
Amazing highly flamed maple back. Sides and neck. Spruce top with an unfortunate attempt at a repair. Its hard to say what us under the cardboard glued over the crack, but as far as I can tell, there is one crack that extends from the treble side f-hole to the bottom edge. There is another crack that extends from the f-hole to the top edge that is covered with tape. On the bass side by the tailpiece appears to be another short crack covered with paper perhaps 6cm long. The back appears to be in very good condition, the neck as well, with some playing wear above the nut on the treble side of the scroll. The rib near the bottom is warped a little. The signature on the label appears to be that of Ernst Heinrich Roth. E H Roth is still in business today in Bubenreuth, and they moved from Markneukirchen in 1953. So, if it's not"pre-war" ... moreit certainly is pre 1953. There is no date on the label. There is a stamp or impression into the wood above the label that says Ernst Heinrich Roth, but it was difficult to get a photo of. As I am not a repairman, I didn't want to get out the exacto knives to see what was under the cardboard and paper, but I suspect that it is not as bad as it looks. Or perhaps the buyer may want to investigate the cost of a new top with E. H. Roth. I'm of the opinion that it should be kept original, even with the cracks. length of back is about 356mm. Vintage Antonio Loveri German violin c. 1930? very nice instrument!
Highly flamed one-piece maple back. Flame maple sides and neck. Spruce top. No visible cracks or damage, a couple minor varnish scratches, but otherwise in excellent original condition. It is interesting to note that Wurlitzer music of Boston has a similar instrument for $1795. Chicago Stringed Instruments has one in their $2000- $5000 section. Also, J. R. Judd Violins has one in their $2000- $5000 section. So it appears that these violins are of quality, and that there are a few out there. There is a bridge, soundpost and tailpiece in the case, but no strings. There is also a cheap wood bow included. length of back is about 357mm. Hello. This is a nice older copy of a classic: Kreutzer Forty-Two Studies or Caprices For the Violin" Volume 230, G. Schirmer, paperback. Music on page 3 through page 69. Spine appears to separate from inside cover page(see photo#3) But the spine is actually doing ok(photo#2) all pages are still firmly held in place. Photos show several pages. Some of the pencil markings. I saw only pencil- erasable) See photo#3. At bottom of page it says: Copyright. 1894, by G. Schirmer, Inc. Copyright renewal assigned. 1923, to G. Beautifully figured maple two piece back. If you look closely you will see a joining technique that was unique to the maker. No sound post issues past or present, peg box in good order. Has a new setup with Prelude strings with a Helicore wound E, The violin looks heavy but when you pick it up it is very light and lively with good projection with a wonderful clear sound that is not too bright. Not a good instrument for very large hands, medium and less are fine. Expertly blocked and lined with fine inlaid purfling and a top made from tight-med grain spruce. Made with beautiful, quality tone woods with well flamed upper ribs, and birdseye on the middle and lower ribs. There is one repaired crack on a rib that can be seen in the pictures. Very nice. Vintage violin made in Germany. Tag on the inside reads: Joh. Bapt. Schweitzer fecit at forman hierenym amati pestini 1813 made in Germany. Solid spruce top, maple one piece back, maple sides. There are two pins on back by the tail and one pin on the back by the neck joint. There are some minor scratches/wear marks which are normal for an instrument this age. No cracks in wood but one slight separation by the tailpiece anchor(see picture 12) Very open and woody sound-plays very smooth all the way up the neck. Old Vintage Violin Check copy of Stainer
Unique color for this copy of Jacob Stainer. Finish is very nice. Slightly worn around the edges and a couple of scuffs either side of the fingerboard. Crack in the finish not the wood near the bridge. I have had this set up for a couple of months and have played it to make sure this crack is no issue. Small open seam at boot but better lent alone it is no going anyware. Playes very nicely and a good tone for instruments of this error and price. New strings. Tailpiece and fine tuners. Peg box in good order, does have a bushed A peg, the others that look bushed are not, someone had installed mechanical tuners and the washers left a mark. I do not see any signs of any repaired damage, The lines on the treble side of the scroll are not cracks, it is in the wood. Violin has a Strad label. It is a beautiful instrument that for some reason had 5 lables in it, one on top of the other, This violin has one of the nicest tops I have come across, outstanding. This violin is a great instrument for any player, with good projection and a silky smooth sound. Helicore strings are now installed, also I went a bit thick on the bridge, with a thinner bridge you can easily add to the projection and change the strings to adjust to your preference. Up for sale is a very nice vintage full size violin. I believe this is a german strat copy but it is a very nice violin and it sounds amazing. It is even all across the strings and it has a new set of prim strings on it. It has plenty of volume in my opinion and well I cant describe its sound other than it has a beutiful well matured voice that can only come from an aged instrument. It has no issues or cracks that I can see it. It has a nice dark finish to the wood. The violin came from Portugal from a reputable violin dealer. It has no label inside but I feel like it is probably german from around the turn of the century. 4/4 Professional Song Violin Handmade Single Back Dark Brown Vintage Antique
For sale is a professional size 4/4 violin made by Song. It is completely handmade and a single-back piece(most beginner violins and lower quality violins are made with two pieces glued together and the seam is visible; this violin is made entirely from one piece and so there is no seam) This is a very unusual and rare color. Which is somewhat difficult to capture in pictures with the flash. In some light it looks so dark as to be nearly black, but when light is shined on it you can see it's a rich, dark brown color. It has a certain degree of lenticularity, meaning the lines of the wood look like they shift when the light shifts, similar to how Tiger's Eye looks under moving light(in fact, it looks very much like a dark Tiger's Eye) Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what material this is made of, although I do know it's ... morenot common, so my loss is your gain. It plays very well. The violin also comes with a locking case(which has a humidity gauge) Two horsehair bows(one of which needs restrung) the strap, and chin rest. The shipping cost is $59.82 because of the weight and unusual size. I do not charge any extra fees or charges on shipping. The shipping cost for this item does include insurance. Old vintage Friedrich Glass 1850's violin in great playing condition
Old 1850's Friedrich A. Glass full sized violin. Of a tan-brown to dark brown color, in great playing condition, from a violinist's collection. It has very attractive book matched, thin tiger-stripe back, ribs, and scroll. It has the original FA Glass label: Fried Aug Glass verferigt nach. Antonius Stradivarius Fils, Facibat in Cremona, 1730" Please note that this is his 1730 Strad model. Not his 1736 model, and not his experimental model with the reverse grain pattern in the top. This was the best model he made and is beautifully finished inside with generous blocks and linings, and perfect carving and interior finishing. I was told when this violin was repaired that the top and back are tuned within a half step of each other, as the true Stradivarius was tuned. The 1736 model was not made with as much care. The violin is typical ... moreof the best vintage of FA Glass violins: it has a super fine-grained top all the way across, the ribs are of well flamed maple with a thin, close flame pattern, the varnish is the tan-brown color of FA Glass and there is much of the original varnish showing. The sound of this violin is a big Stradivarius sound. The E string is particularly good. It is one of the few violins I have played where the sound is beautiful with no vibrato at all. No open cracks or seams. No rib, back, or soundpost cracks. There is a well cleated and repaired bass bar crack that is barely noticeable. There have been other typical small repairs to the edges themselves. There is no photo of the side view and I cannot provide one because the violin is not where I am right now. That view would reveal that the arching of the top is quite high. In a"flat tube" style, and that age has caused the bridge area to descend slightly and the area under the neck to rise slightly. The violin has great tone as is, and is set up well, so this is quite acceptable. Research will show that this model of FA Glass violin in perfect condition is sold by shops for $3-5K. I got this old Guarnerius Violin at a yard sale and it needs to be restored. This old violin was made in Austria in 1736 I was told. I'm not sure. It has a label inside of the violin(Joseph Guarnerius Fecit Cremonae Anno 17 IHS with a Roman Cross) It has 4 new strings, 2-keys, violin fiddle bridges market Paris, and other peace's with it. Eko guitars and basses were crafted by the Oliviero Pigini company of Recanati, Italy, founded in 1959. From the outset, the firm concentrated on accordion manufacturing and expanded into guitar production in the early’60s. One of its accordion clients was the Lo Duca Brothers Musical Instruments company, of Milwaukee, which joined forces with the Italian manufacturer as the exclusive distributor of Eko guitars in the U.S. One of the 995’s most intriguing aesthetic features is the square protuberance on its headstock. With its gothic E logo. It certainly was eye-catching compared to other headstocks and logos of the era– and certainly did not give off a rock-and-roll vibe! The bound rosewood fretboard on the one shown here has ... more21 frets, and joins the body at the 16th(Lo Duca literature claimed the fretboard was ebony) The hyper-slim bolt-on neck has five-piece laminate construction– maple with rosewood stringers. It measures 1 3/8″ wide at the nut, and there’s a zero fret. The serial number is embossed on the neck plate. The body is 13″ wide and 2 3/4″ deep. It has an arched spruce top. Flamed maple back and sides, and three-layer binding(white/black/white) on the edge. Its Dura-Glos finish is called Honey Brown. Electronics include two height-adjustable pickups with staple-type polepieces. A Lo Duca Brothers catalog refers to them as having“double polarity, inferring they’re humbuckers. The four-position pickup toggle has a standard three-way operation plus an“off” position. Control knobs are master Volume and master Tone. Hardware includes budget-grade tuners, a harp-shaped tailpiece, and a bridge that once again invites comparison to Vox. We are a small shop with roots that run deep in the mountains of Virginia. We are new to eBay but know classic violins. This violin is a mid-century German violin labeled as a Wexler. Beautiful flamed Maple 2 piece back. As well as flamed ribs, neck and scroll. To find a violin of this quality is difficult. Most violins found do not have the quality of maple found in this piece. Throughout its restoration. Great care was taken to make sure all internal blocking was sound. Amazingly there are very few surface dings or scuffs for its age. Again. This violin is in excellent condition for its age. This violin’s densely matched flamed Maple backplate is complemented by a tightly grained Spruce soundwood ... moretop. The result is a clear pronounced sound that is very responsive throughout its range. No sound post issues past or present. Peg box in good order.Varnish is in nice shape with light to average wear. Labeled: FLORIAN SIKORA. PRACOWNIA INSTRUMENTOW. MUZYCZNYCH. BYDGOSZCZ. UL DWORCOWA NR 8. Well flammed 2 piece back. Only one repair that i can see is a 4" repaired crack on the upper treble bout visible in pictures. Awesome advanced student instrument with really nice projection with a tone leaning torward the bright side on E,A, D and bit dark on the G. Newly installed Helicore strings with wound E. Top made from. Medium grain spruce and nicely flamed two piece back. I am guessing this is has a shop label and built locally to the shop. Very Good Vintage/Old Restored 4/4 Pernambuco Violin Bow
Full Size Pernambuco Violin Bow Stamped"BAUSCH" This bow is 730 mm long including the screw and weighs 68.9 gm. It has new hair. Lapping, leather grip. The frog has Parisienne eyes to the sides and the fittings are nickel silver with mother of pearl dot to the end of the screw. The bow has been cleaned and polished and has no splits or damage. The slide,screw,eye and tenon are clean and work smoothly. The stick is round pernambuco dark brown in colour and ready to play. Whilst a bit on the heavy side for a violin bow this is a responsive, well balanced bow that plays well and solidly on the string with good feel, some spring and tone.
