Antique Rosewood Fretwork for Chickering Square Baby Grand Piano
It is a piece of fretwork from an antique piano. It looks like it held the sheet music on a Chickering square baby grand piano. The dimensions are 33 1/2" wide x 9 1/2" tall x 3/8" thick. It is made of laminate Rosewood. It has chips.Scratches and some pieces missing but is overall in very good condition and presents well. It has a slight warp. A beautiful ornate piece of fretwork that could be displayed as it is or used on a piano.

COST OF RESTORATION WAS $7800.00! I'M SORRY. BUT DUE TO MOVING, THOSE RECORDS HAVE BEEN MISPLACED. THE PIANO RESTORER HAS SINCE RETIRED AND NO LONGER IN THE PHOENIX AREA. I BELIEVE THE COMPANY NAME WAS"COLEMAN" THIS PIANO, WAS APPRAISED AT THE TIME OF APPROXIMATELY $20,000.00! It was a verbal appraisal. Piano tuners since have been very impressed with it's beauty and tone. I was advised by them to list this as a"museum piece" It has a beautiful finish. And the soundboard was replaced at the time of restoration. Also, the felts, hammers, etc. It has been completely restored both musically and as an antique piece of furniture. The only ... morething that you might note is the gold embossed name"Baldwin" in old english style lettering is probably not like the original. When it was refinished. Ofcourse, the Balwin name was removed. It has two pedals. A carved music stand. The picture of the piano stool is not included in this listing. Measurements are 76 inches width. 38 inches depth, and 38 inches in heighth. Even the keys are in perfect condition as they were replaced during the restoration. Not real ivory, but a quality substitute. There are no knicks or scratches except for one small place where a guest accidently set something& the finish is marred slightly. It could be easily touched up or maybe even rubbed out. I would never consider selling this beautiful antique piano except that I have three grown children and in fairness. Antique BALDWIN “R” Baby Grand Piano 5'8" Serial 16535 build in 1908-1910 White
Antique BALDWIN“R” Baby Grand Piano 5'8" Serial# 16535. Made back in the early 1900s. Wonderful sound. It was not tuned after moving, but still holds tune. All the keys play and sound great. Off-White/ Ivory color. The piano was probably partially re-finished. Because the keys lid and note holder is a little darker than the rest of the piano, but maybe it is just discoloration because of time. There are some scratches on the piano and a bench, but no damage to the wood. Original piano bench is included. The only one damage I know is one of three legs has a chipped top platform(where it connects to the piano itself) If you do not roll the piano forth and back– it will stay firmly. Antique 1907 Wurlitzer Baby Grand Piano w/ Bench
Description Wurlitzer baby grand piano. Serial number is 8378; according to the Bluebook of Pianos website. The serial number dates it to 1907. Wheels were at some point added to the piano's legs. Accessories A matching bench with storage underneath the seat is included. Size& Measurements Piano: approx 57.5" wide x 58.5" long x 37.5" tall(not including wheels) wheels add 1.5" or so Bench: 14" wide x 30" long x 22" tall Function All keys play. Though the instrument is in need of tuning. Some sound especially off(particularly the low F's) We are not sure if that is indicative of another issue or if it is just lack of tuning. Although basic operational tests are done when possible. We may not be able to test all items, functions, settings, calibrations, connections, controls and features. Condition ... moreOne key sits slightly lower than the others. But it does play and return to position. There is a 2" chip in the wood that has been set back into place(see photo) to the right of the keyboard. The right-side knob to pull down the key cover is loose. There are some gouges, scratches, scuffs, and stains throughout the piano's finish as well as that of the bench; there are a few water rings(from cups) on the bench seat as well. The most significant flaws I noted are shown in the photos. The front left leg has been attached with replacement bolt screws instead of the flat-head screws holding the other two legs(see photo for comparison) The instrument shows overall wear from use and age. 1899 Baby Grand Piano made by The Sterling Piano Co. in Brooklyn(store was at 536 Fulton St. Serial Number is 22869. However. Two other numbers are stamped on the wood, 22866 and#22865. Front of piano says Sterling New York-Toronto. Mahogany. Approximately 56 inches across the front and from front to back. Beautiful carvings continue underneath piano. Completely restored by the Antique Piano Warehouse in Anaheim or Buena Park, CA 1977 or 1978, and I have been the only owner since. Piano bench was provided by the Antique Piano Warehouse but is not antique. Legs on both sides and in the back of the piano and the pedals unscrew, making it easy to move. Pedals were not put back on in my last move 5 years ago and the piano has not been played since then. Beautiful piano but no room for it anymore. This is a lovely Louis XVI Grand Piano built by Hardman. Peck& Co. during the great depression era. This piano would have been one of the highest grade, most expensive pianos offered by Hardman at the time, and would have been afforded by only a wealthy few during the great depression. This piano is made of elegantly carved wood, and boasts some of the most elaborately carved Louis XVI style legs ever seen. It has lovely victorian style inlayed artwork on three sides. No expense was spared when it was restored to perfection in 2010, the entire process took over a year to accomplish. Antique Waltham piano passed down through the family and now I own it. Problem is that it is too big for my living room. I love the way it looks; it creates such a nice ambience. However it is still too big. After much research and communication with professional restorers. Research of the serial number on the piano revealed that it was built in 1896 by the Waltham Piano Company. The Waltham Piano Company was established in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1885. The firm was incorporated in 1906. Waltham was well known for building exceptionally well made pianos. With an emphasis on musical quality over aesthestics. Waltham's player piano line was especially impressive, as they incorporated many highly innovated design techniques into their player pianos that were usually only found in higher quality conventional pianos. The Waltham Piano Company ... morebuilt several names including Warfield, Waltham, Wilson, Electotone, Kilbourne, Auburn, Lincoln, Shorewood and Oakland. In their last years, Waltham becam part of the Netzow Piano Company before being discontinued in 1931 due to the Great Depression. This piece is very heavy(about 1100 pounds) and would need to be moved by piano movers. Of course. It is NOT in mint condition(I actually find the antique look very appealing) however, I've been advised by the experts that with restoration and tuning, etc. it would be phenomonal. Had this piano for 50 yrs approximately.all apart.started to sand to refinish. Project was aborted many years ago. Now need the space it's taking up. The wood is mahogany. The strings are all in place. The keyboard ivory has all eroded, but the wood for the keys may be fixable. It is surely a project for someone ambishious and determined to get this ole girl up and running. Had this piano since I was a little girl, sad to see it this way. Antique Baby Grand Piano, 1928 Conover,
Research shows the Conover Baby Grand Piano to have been made in 1928 by the first two digits of the serial# 280814. It is a model 88. The exterior has been stripped on two sides and not re-varnished. The balance of the piano. The top etc. is in the original patina. Mahogany wood. I was told that the sound board is not cracked. The keys all work, no sticking. 15 of the key tops have a seam between the wider front part of the key and the skinny narrow part of the key. The rest of the key tops are one piece, no seam. The music rack slides back and forth. Three brass pedals all work. The legs are on wheels. The piano is in good antique condition, but not flawless and of course needs tuning. The value of this piano with a Grade 1 restoration from the Antique Piano Shop would be about $20.000- $25,000, and with a Grade 2 restoration would make it worth about $28,000- $30,000. Antique Estey Baby Grand Piano circa 1920 era
Check out this antique baby grand that needs to be restored as it has beautiful wood veneers and an impressive gold colored metal infrastructure that holds the strings taut. It was made by the Estey Piano Co. in New York probably in the 1920's as there is a decal that says Awarded a Gold Medal during the Sesqi-Centennial in Philadelphia in 1929. The major part of the veneers are very nice but there are some bumps and bruises from being moved from here to there many times in its life. This baby grand needs a good home with someone who is knowledgeable in the restoration and care of a fine old instrument.
