It measures 8" wide x 14 1/8" ... morelong back(not including button) and 23 1/4" long overall. The old-growth wood back and ribs are wonderfully figured tiger grained maple. With highly polished varnish finish(see images) The purfling is amazingly precisely inlayed, and scroll as well as f-holes are finely hand carved, showing crisp detailed workmanship. It is several steps above in quality from what we typically expect to find from the period, so we believe that it comes from an excellent violin making shop(possibly Mirecourt or similar regional violin making shop/ see images) It has not been recently played; appears to have been well maintained and put away in good working order(see images/ sound post is in place) Nice original varnish finish. It appears to be in good unrestored condition. Case shows overall signs of wear, and will provide good protection in shipping. This violin displays very beautifully! As with all vintage instruments we offer. It is being sold in as-found condition for restoration or display. Please ask all questions before bidding.

I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown in pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. I am not an expert so please take a look at the pics and feel free to ask questions. Rare Old Violin Bow and French Vuillaume Rosin
Rare Violin Bow and Vuillaume Rosin. I have no idea when the bow was made and by whom but it clearly has the same logo as the Vuillaume rosin. The rosin has never been used. All parts of the bow seem to be original and the current weight is 44.5 grams. No cracks I can see. The bow has the most beautiful screw. Clearly an upgrade from the usual screw. To me, this is a French bow, from one of the many Vuillaume bowmakers, pernambucco wood, 19th Century. I don't have the time(nor money) to bring it to a big city shop so. You- the experts- can tell me what you think(I hope) No return and No reserve. This is a short 3 day auction. On Jan-06-13 at 07:15:53 PST. antique French 4/4 violin HENRY THOUVENEL excl playing cond no res This is a fantastic 19th century French violin with fantastic sound suitable for advanced and professional player. The stamp inside the violin says: THOUVENEL HENRY and TH in a circle. The back of the violin is made of one piece of super attractive tiger maple. And has no repairs or cracks. There iS A STamp near the button that says: POND& CO. ALBANY. I guess from the dealer in US who sold it. The sides and the scroll have the matching wood and except a dent. Or scratch from the old case have no damage( see the pic. The fingerboard has a piece of wood like a shim under it. I guess to make it higher. The top has some repairs; a long repair going through half of the violin under the bridge. I looked inside and can see a patch under the bridge. there are 2 other minor repairs( ... moreyou can see all in the pictures. And please ask for more pictures if you wish) The varnish has an orange yellow color with nice patina and all original with some shadings in the middle because of the repair. All repairs are strong and the seams tight. Needs new strings and may be a new bridge. Althoughthe old bridge works. The length of the body is 14 inches. No case. No bow.

Luthier N 8112(2or4? an 1951 maker signature We have been so fortunate to have this beautiful hand craft 4/4 FULL SIZE(length 23 1/2) FERENCH violin labeled ALBERT DEBLAYE was from an old violin and viola luthier house collection. This violin was with other violins as you see in my feedbacks that been sold. Which we bought along with many other things from the house. About this violin: It seems like the top plate was repaired before. There is 4 repaired cracks on top plate as I see(2 on the top plate/ on the left f hole and looks like repaired long time ago and I don’t see open seem, 2very small hair line cracks by the right f hole which look like repaired and I don’t see open seem(=almost invisible) please look at my pictures see in my pictures. There is one small chips on the scroll and one on the corner ... moreof top plate on the lower right as you see in my pictures. I do not see any open crack or open seem! The neck is in good condition and attached to the violin body. The sound post is still intact inside as you see in my pictures from the right f hole. though I do not guarantee that once you receive the violin. That the sound post will remain in the same right place.it might move or fall down during shipment. The violin is old and has some normal scraches due to its age. It comes with the ALBERT DEBLAY certification and also the signature is on the label and certification as you see in my pictures. It also comes with a full size Stamped bow(L.M) in great condition. A fine antique french late 18th century violin of the Chappuy school made circa 1790. A rare and beautiful 18th century violin of the french school. Made circa 1790. The table is made of two parts of spruce, the fine grain widening to the edges. The back, ribs and head are unflamed. This violin is a fine piece of the french school, in the style of Augustin Chappuy. The varnish, of a deep brown colour on a golden ground, has a very nice patina. The head is gorgeous, and has been beautifully grafted on a new neck. The button of the neck has been reset with an ebony crown. The violin is in a good restored condition. With a few repaired cracks on table(without any soundpost one though) and a few minor cracks on ribs. The violin has been set-up in our workshop with a rosewood and bone tailpiece, a rosewood chinrest and endpin, and Thomastik Dominant ... morestrings. The rosewood pegs are probably 19th century, and in good condition. The sound of this fine french instrument is gorgeous. Great Old Full size old Violin bow. Bow is Octagonal and is made from nice stiff wood. Bow weighs about 48 grams without hair and wrapping. probably will be about 55 grams or so when haired and wrapped) Bow length is exactly 28 13/16 inches from tip to end of bow screw. Frog is original and in nice shape. Frog has French Characteristics and is unique. Stick is in good shape as well but may need some cambering when rehairing. The bow has a stamp. I cannot read it. Looks like the first letter is an"M" but it's really faint. This will make a super nice bow once rehaired. This bow could be another"Vuillaume school bow" It could be a sleeper. This auction is for one 4/4 size Lyon Healy violin circa 1924 model 1024. This violin has not been out of the case for over 30 years. It will need to be professionally set up and restrung. The body is 14" long and is 8" at the widest point. This violin appears to be in excellent condition free of cracks and repairs. The sound post is intact. The wood is exceptional and has a very nice scroll. The label reads, The lyon Healy student violin Chicago A.D. circa 1924 style 1024. It looks like it has been played and has minor wear but nothing damaging. no cracks either. He trained in the Lafleur workshop and served his apprenticeship in the workshop of Pajeot in Mirecourt. Maire's style remained close to that of Pajeot.He opened his own workshop in Mirecourt in 1826 and left in 1853 to work in Paris. As well as his own production. He worked for Gand. A French Mirecourt Violin c1930, Laberte Workshops H. Denis Model
Many more excellent violins on martinswanviolins.com! This is a good H. Denis violin made by the Laberte Workshops in Mirecourt- you can see this violin listed in their. Page 3. The H. Denis model tends to be quite broad with a plainish maple back, good spruce, and a characteristic orange-brown varnish. The condition is very good, with no cracks or damages of any kind. The varnish is well preserved, with only a few dunts and scratches. It's well set up. Ready to play and the action is correct. The pegs and chinrest are new ebony; strings are new Warchal Karneol(in my opinion the best sounding strings on the market) length of back 35.9cm, total length 59cm. Laberte and JTL violins account for more than 50% of our sales- I know them well. And I'm a big fan. This particular instrument has a classic Mirecourt sound, sugary sweet, rather ... morebright, with excellent sustain and without harshness. It's responsive and reedy- the balance is exemplary, there's plenty of oomph on the G and a broad and musical tone high up on the E string. I would recommend it for an accomplished classical player. And it's well suited to Mozart and baroque repertoire. However, my usual caveat- judgments of tone are notoriously subjective, and I can only describe it as I hear it. You're welcome to come and try the violin in Peebles, and I have a big range of other instruments to compare it with. This model would sell for around £1500 in my local violin shop- I'm offering it with a very modest start price less than a third of its retail value. A Rare Certified Superb French Violin Bow 4X4 Perfect Pernumbuco
I hereby certify that the Violin Bow described below was made in my opinion in France. It is unsigned however the workmanship is very fine and the finish is absolutely flawless. Clearly the work of a Master Archetier of the highest level. My best guess is that it was made by Émile Auguste Ouchard, but without a stamp I can't certify that it is his work. The Frog and Screw Stem were made in my workshop here in Somerset Mass. in 2011. As the original frog was damaged and I felt it was better to replace it. This one is made of the finest Ebony and Sterling Silver hand finished to perfection. The stick is octagonal and has a length of 74.3cm and 60.3 grams. It is of a dark brown Pernambuco of excellent quality. The frog has two unique raised silver Fleur-de-Lis emblems on each side of the hand finished ebony frog. The bow is extremely ... morefirm with plenty of bounce. We have left it without hair as the buyer should determine what combination of hair best suits their playing style with their own archetier/luthier. Should you choose to have us re-hair it for you. Up for bids is another one of my old violins from my"French" collection. It has and unusual label inside that simply has a Harp and the initials JTL underneath it. I researched this name and it is JT Lamy that goes by those initials. It has a beautifully flamed two piece tiger maple back and sides. The top is finely grained spruce.no cracks or repairs that I can see. It has inlaid purfling. Measures 23.5 inches in overall length. In my opinion it has a very nice smooth tone. Very pretty old violin. Sorry no case or bow for this one. It is in very good shape so I would think it is probably a copy although the label doesn't state that. This is a lovely old 4/4 violin. The label inside reads: Fait dans l'Atelier de P. BLANCHARD Lyon 1898(last two numbers are in writting) This is a full sized violin. It measures: 586 x 360 x 164 x 111 x 204 mm. REPAIRS: long repaired crack going from apr. middle of the right"F" hole to the edge- 5 inch long repaired saddle hair line- under the tail piece. 1.5 inch long repaired hair line on the left lower bout. repaired lower left rib at the edge/ corner. I DO NOT SEE OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VIOLIN. And all the past repairs are holding. I looked to check things inside. And all is fine: All the linings are in place; all corner blocks are there; the bass bar is firmly attached and the sound post is in place. There are some minor dings. Scratches, and scuffin all over, and some varnish ware. THIS VIOLIN IS CLEARLY SHOWN IN DETAIL ... moreON THE PICTURES- NO SURPRISES. Violin is setup. And it is in playing condition. This violin comes out of luthiers estate and I am commissioned by family to auctioned it off. We did not find any papers relevant to history of this instrument. There is no bow or the case.
