I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown ... morein pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. The plastic on the tip is cracked. The violin is used with scratches. Scuffs and nicks. The machine head tuners appear to be in good shape. Fingerboard has some wear. The tailpiece, chin rest and bridge each appear to be in good shape with some wear. There are no discernible cracks, aside from some old separation at some edges that have been long since glued. There is no sound post in place. Any cosmetic wear should be evident in the photos provided. In original condition, will need attention/ restoration and setting up. Some rough edges on sides of lower right top and upper left top. Some warping and issue at the bottom side where the tailpin goes in and will need a new pin. Sound pegs don't completely match and look to have been adjusted. Needs strings. C omes in an old wooden case. Which is a little worse for wear but still very stron g. Also included is an octagonal Bow. 29 1/8 ins, which has no hair. Antique Robert Glier Violin Pernambuco Bow Auburt Bridge GSB Wood Coffin Case Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a antique 1800's Robert Glier Violin. Pernambuco wood bow, and GSB coffin case. I believe its full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/8" wide at widest point. I was told its from 1894 and the case is pat 1888 so that seems to be probable. It is missing one string and probably needs a little TLC it has not been played in years. The wood has some age wear and patina the back has a nice tiger stripe grain it seems to have good sound and be of good quality but I'll leave that to the experts to decide. The inside sticker is marked Robert Glier manufacturer no 1831. Cincinnati 1894. The bow is a pernambuco wood looks similar to high dollar names I've seen on ebay like WE Hill and sons ... morebut its not marked, it has tape on one spot not sure if this is holding it together or if it was just put there to cushion the hold. Millant- Paris# Mint condition# rare find Certified by the world famous bow maker and Honorary Expert prés la Cour d´Appel de Paris: Bernard Millant Nicolas Rémy Maire( Mirecourt. 1800- Paris, 1878) was an illustrious French bow maker. He trained in the Lafleur workshop and served his apprenticeship in the workshop of Pajeot in Mirecourt. Maire's style remained close to that of Pajeot.He opened his own workshop in Mirecourt in 1826 and left in 1853 to work in Paris. As well as his own production. He worked for Gand. Jean Baptiste Vuillaume and Georges Chanot. He was influenced by Dominique Peccatte during the 1850s. His bows being very similar to those of Peccatte from this period. Darker wood on front could be cherry on back looks like burlwood. The double pin striping is wonderful lighter on front and darker on back(usuing oposite woods) I bought the violin years ago and had it referbished. Two cracks on front were repaired(left side) I had it fitted with thomastik dominant strings and the red wood pegs chin and tail pieces. I believe this is around early 1900's Germany. A RARE GUSETO German made Violin, with New strings added. As you may know the old violins have that rich warm mellow tone that only comes from years of aging wood. And this is a rare violin as well. HAS CASE& BOW PROBLEMS& CONDITION This is well used Violin and is experienced. The binding around the top side& bottom side has some binding broken off sections. I count 4 areas on the top edge. The largest about 1 inch, Two sections on the bottom the largest about 2 inches. I don't see any cracking of the body in those area's, just the edge binding chipped away. I don't see any cracking in the main body. There is a crack on the head stock tuning key area. It looks like there may of been a professional repair made in this area. NOT SURE. Up for sale is an antique 4/4 VIOLIN bearing the following label: Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis(2 nd line) Faciebot Anno 17(after the 17 is a hand written two-digit number for the date of manufacture. I can’t read these numbers at all) 3 rd line) Made in Germany. It is in excellent playing shape. The strings on it are not the best. And it would benefit greatly from a professional string set. The black tuning pegs are two of each. The upper pegs are slightly smaller than the lower pegs. The upper pegs also have a small inset white dot. I have tried to research this but short of paying to have this appraised. I am listing this violin as"in the school of Stradivarius" The violin measures 23 3/4 inches long. The body of the violin. From lower edge to upper edge(measuring the back) is 14 ½ inches with 8 inches across the lower ... morebell, 6 5/8 inches across the upper belly and 4 3/8 in the“waist” The Stradivarius violin was copied in France and in Germany throughout the 1800’s and into the early 1900’s. Some copies were very exact and even professionals used these violins. I have a beautiful vintage bow that is part of this violin. Bow& case lot. It is full length(29.25 inches) As I know very little about violins and bows(my husband’s collection) you will have to judge by the pictures. The violin is really very nice and sounds very nice. The back wood and side wood is flamed maple with a spruce top. Ebony end peg. Tail piece and fret board. The chin rest is Bakelite. There are some edge rubs and nicks and a repaired crack. There is a label inside that has a double line rectangle border and inside the border says: Rep by(2 nd line) W Bruggmann(3 rd line) Anno SS 1912. Having professional repairs seems to me that this was a cherished instrument and valuable enough to warrant the repair cost. The BOW is vintage and is marked only with the country Czechoslovakia. Old Antique Miniature Wooden & Inlaid Mother of Pearl 2 3/8" Violin & Bow
What a tiny treasure! The violin itself has inlaid mother of pearl around the edges. The back is inlaid beautifully with a flower& bird pattern. The bow has the original string& is in excellent condition. However. The violin needs some TLC to reglue the bridge back in place& tie the strings back. Someone with extreme patience& knowledge of the violin should do this. I have made no attempt to do this& is sold as is. The wooden box has a groove in it to put your nail& slide the case open. The inside is lined with red tissue paper. On the inside of the box lid is some pencil writing of numbers. Not sure what country of origin this came from. Hi. Up for auction is a Fine Vintage Antique Signed Violin Bow Marked/Stamped DODD. I know nothing on Bows/Instruments. I have not cleaned the bow and looks to be in good condition I believe the Frog is ebony and is inlaid with mother of pearl. I am not sure what wood the bow is made out of I believe any metal on here is silver but i would hate to scratch into it to test it. It is around 67 CM long or 26 inches. The Bow with what string on it is around 49.4 Grams. Looks like this will need cleaned and Restrung. This was my mothers violin. She passed away and left it to me. I do not play, so I have decided to pass it on to someone who will enjoy it as much as she did. She played it from the time she was a 6 years old until she passed away last year. she was 68 years old. I do not have a great deal of knowledge about this so I have taken many pictures of it and it's case. they are in wonderful used condition. I comes with strings, tuning harp, original key, two bows, and two things of rosen. My mother last played this in an orchestra in MO. She was very proud of this! The inside of this reads made in the U.S.A. I have tried to find another and I can not find one made in the U.S.A. only other countries. I HOPE SOMEONE OUT THERE WILL ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS SHE DID. Vintage "Vuillaume A Paris" ? Stamped Violin bow. 29 Inches. Antique.
Vintage or antique violin bow and extra part. Bow appears to be stamped"Vuillaume A Paris. It is a worn stamp but"Paris" is clearly stamped at the end. See my photos and determine for yourself. Bow measures about 29 inches long. There is a groove in the wood in which the frog fits. The small octagonal metal piece on the end of the adjustment know is missing. There is a tiny chip at the tip of the bow. The bone insert on the bottom of the frog does not fit all the way to the metal piece on the end- there is a small piece of wood in the gap- and the metal piece on the end has a small round hole in it. There is also a small worn spot on the right side of the end of the bow. Bone piece on the bottom of the tip is missing some of the surface. Bow needs to be re-haired. Bow has a dark old finish. There is string wrapped between the ... moreback of the bow and the adjustment knob. Bow is made from a heavy tropical wood. Please inspect my photos for condition and other details. Also included in this lot is the horn piece(I forget what you call these) with the decorative metal inset spots(silver? Check out my! I am also selling a few more old bows. Old pre-ban tortoise shell frog with gold screw. Gold wire. Wire is 14' long, 4 grams. The broken piece is the part the knurl covers and is missing. I don't know the maker. It is restorable to someone who knows how. The jewler I took it to to test the gold(it is real gold) said he could restore it if he had another piece of shell to match which I don't have. Purchased by my father about 40 years ago from the last Albert Nurnberger before he died in Southern Oregon but he said at that time that he did not make it. Cleaning out dad's old shop so more violin stuff to come.

There is a Repaired Hairline in it's top on the left side of the tailpiece, and between the chin rest& the tailpiece, and there is a closeup photo of that area in this auction. This Violin, is an Easy Player with a Great Tone& Sound to it, it also has Great Volume to it. The label on the inside of this Violin Reads Antonius Stradivarius Cremonae Faciebat Anno 1749. It has Inlaid Purfling all around it's outter edge. It also has a New Set of Strings on it. Antique Violin Made by Robert Crawford. New York State, 4/4, with Case& Bow I purchased this wonderful violin years ago from a local estate in Western New York State. I couldn't find out much about Robert Crawford. Apparently this guy was fairly obscure. According to what little I found online a few years ago, he established a shop in Spring Brook NY in 1884 from which he made Strad copies and did repair work. This was according to The Violin Makers of the US by Thomas J Wenberg. The violin measures slightly over 23-1/2" long with the end peg inserted. The pegs have mother of pearl in the ends. The bow has mother of pearl inserts. The violin finish has scratches and wear, I don't see any cracks. The top nut is missing, a dowl is loose inside, a piece of mother of pearl is missing on the end peg. Tail piece has a corner gone(see ... morephoto) The case is in decent condition for the age. Antique HOPF VIOLIN With Bow And Case
23" Long 7.5. Wide. This violin dates approximately from the late 19th century. Came from the attic of an extremely old estate. Exceptional piece of craftsmanship which is rarely seen today. Antique 4/4 Acoustic Violin with Bow and Original Case-Made in Nippon 1914-1921
Not being a musician. This description is aided by internet research. First the Made in Nippon labeling appears to imply different dates depending upon what is being dated, porcelain, musical instruments, or etc. The specific dating comes from research that indicates if a violin has a Made in Nippon label then it was made between 1914-1921.That is consistent with the known ownership and limited use of this violin, Clearly visible through an fhole is the label Trademark(small logo) Made in Nippon on a rectangular piece of paper. This violin measures 23.5 x 8.5 x 1.40 inches. Photo1 shows the violin that is a beautiful copy of an Antonius Stradivarius violin. It appears to be factory made. The seams are very tight. And there are no visible splits,chips, gouges or cracks in the wood. The wood on the back as seen in Photo 6 looks like a maple ... moreand the wood on the front could be birch, however, not knowing what woods were available to the manufacturer at that time prohibits preciseness. The purfling is beautifully done and the finish is in really good shape except where worn with use. Near the neck there are spots(in a 1 x 1.5 inch area) where the finish is worn through in a spotty pattern. Photo 2 shows the scroll. Peg box and pegs all of which are in excellent condition, although this violin needs to be restrung before it can be played. Photo 3 is meant to show that the wood for the fingerboard is a darker more closely grained wood. The finish on the fingerboard is either different(such as a lightly rubbed finish) or worn off.The neck in the back is lighter and may be a reflection of worn finish. Photo 4 shows the bridge(which is not original) and the fine tuners. I have no way of knowing whether or not all of the tuners are present or are in good shape. Photo 5 shows the chin rest that has been added. It is stamped made in Germany and is consistent with the age of the violin(according to other German chin rests of that time) Also visible is the end button in excellent shape.
