Antique 1700s German Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Violin Bow GSB Coffin Case Up for auction is a antique 1700's Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Violin made in Germany. I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown ... morein pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. Antique German Copy Stradivarius Violin This is an antique German made copy of a Stradivarius violin. This is made of beautiful tiger maple. This is marked on the scroll end'Conservatory Violin' and has a label inside'Copy of Antonius Stradiuarius Made in Germany' There is a black paper on the handle with string numbers and guides as well as a copyright date of 1894 by Mr. Mrs. Frank T. Benjamin. There is also a number 940 written in. This comes with two bows that have lovely mother of pearl inlay in the handles. The hard coffin case is lined in purple fabric with clamps for the bows and a compartment that has an original empty violin string bag by'La Excellente' This also has a bridge made of wood that is marked'Dresden Germany' on it. A good antique Violin by Aug. Fried. Glass of Saxony, Germany. About 1880. A curvy, Tyrolese style, Stradivarius model. In original condition. Including the varnish. Back and sides of vibrant curl and rich color. There is a crack on the left lower top below the'f' hole that may need attention(pic 6) Will likely need new strings. The old hard case is very distressed but solid and there is a usable Bow whose hair is thinning. The length of back not including the neck button is 14 3/16 inches. Grafted Scroll(Picture 8) Back plate is made of a single piece of Tiger Maple. The back has a loss of color. But the finish is still very smooth. With Medium Spruce Top Plate with varnish crazing. Very tight seams with no issues. Sound post is firmly in place.Original finish with a nice light orange color with minor surface scratches. The body is 14 1/4" 362mm) and the width is 8 1/4" 210mm) Total length is 23.1/4" This fine instrument has new strings, bridge, tailpiece, chinrest and is ready for play. No bow is included. Antique German Stradivarius Copy 4/4 Adult String Violin 1700s Vintage w/ Case
Antique Violin This auction is for a really nice and very well made antique violin that was made in Germany. The violin has an inner label that identifies it as a copy of a Stradivarius and it has the date that starts with 1700 but the rest of the date was never filled in. It’s very well made and a great looking piece with patina and wear from years of use. It measures about 23" long and the body only measures about 14" long. It’s a full 4/4. Adult size and guaranteed old. I see no damage, but it doesn’t have a bridge and needs a little work. Includes old hard case. Up for sale is an antique 4/4 VIOLIN bearing the following label: Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis(2 nd line) Faciebot Anno 17(after the 17 is a hand written two-digit number for the date of manufacture. I can’t read these numbers at all) 3 rd line) Made in Germany. It is in excellent playing shape. The strings on it are not the best. And it would benefit greatly from a professional string set. The black tuning pegs are two of each. The upper pegs are slightly smaller than the lower pegs. The upper pegs also have a small inset white dot. I have tried to research this but short of paying to have this appraised. I am listing this violin as"in the school of Stradivarius" The violin measures 23 3/4 inches long. The body of the violin. From lower edge to upper edge(measuring the back) is 14 ½ inches with 8 inches across the lower ... morebell, 6 5/8 inches across the upper belly and 4 3/8 in the“waist” The Stradivarius violin was copied in France and in Germany throughout the 1800’s and into the early 1900’s. Some copies were very exact and even professionals used these violins. I have a beautiful vintage bow that is part of this violin. Bow& case lot. It is full length(29.25 inches) As I know very little about violins and bows(my husband’s collection) you will have to judge by the pictures. The violin is really very nice and sounds very nice. The back wood and side wood is flamed maple with a spruce top. Ebony end peg. Tail piece and fret board. The chin rest is Bakelite. There are some edge rubs and nicks and a repaired crack. There is a label inside that has a double line rectangle border and inside the border says: Rep by(2 nd line) W Bruggmann(3 rd line) Anno SS 1912. Having professional repairs seems to me that this was a cherished instrument and valuable enough to warrant the repair cost. The BOW is vintage and is marked only with the country Czechoslovakia. She played it from the time she was a 6 years old until she passed away last year. she was 68 years old. I do not have a great deal of knowledge about this so I have taken many pictures of it and it's case. they are in wonderful used condition. I comes with strings, tuning harp, original key, two bows, and two things of rosen. My mother last played this in an orchestra in MO. She was very proud of this! I have since returned it to working order by replacing the strings, bridge, and chin rest, as well as purchasing a fiberglass bow by Glasser- over $300 in repairs. I believe this to indicate that it is a pre-1957 Stradivarius copy(no date is inked in) Multiple mild abrasions exist on the front of the body. Which is an easy repair for capable hands. This violin was professionally owned. By a local musician who performed Irish music in the casinos of Atlantic City. NJ for many years. This violin has no makers label. And has seen much use. The body measures approx. 14 inches from the bottom of the neck heel to the body bottom. The lower bout is approx. 8 inch across. And the top bout is approx. 6 3/8 inch a cross. The total instrument measures approx. 23 1/2 in ch from tip of scroll head-stoc k to body bottom. Figured Maple back and sides and rear of neck. I noted no cracks or repairs on the neck. Beautifully Restored 80 Year Old Stradivarius -Antique Vintage Fine Violin
For Sale is a beautiful Stradivarius handcrafted in West Germany. This violin was imported and sold by the Jackson Guldan Violin Co. in the early 1900's. The quality in this violin is extremely high. Beautiful flamed Maple as well as a tightly grained Spruce soundwood topsheet. This violin has been recently restored and refinished by Appalachian Luthiers. We are a small shop with roots that run deep in the mountains of Virginia. As a second generation luthier we now have two shops in our family. This violin was restored in our Haines. AK violin shop. When I started this project I inspected all the internal blocking and seams. The seams are perfect and there are NO repaired cracks, splits, or seperations. The finish of the violin was buffed in 3 seperate stages and a hand buffed finish was applied. The original Shellac remains on this ... moreviolin as do the scratches and minor dings that give this violin a time earned beautiful finish. The fittings were replaced with rosewood tailpiece and chinrest as well as a custom bridge. Nickel wound steel strings with brass rings complete the sound of this fine piece. This violin’s densely matched flamed Maple backplate is complemented by a tightly grained Spruce soundwood top. The result is a clear pronounced sound that is very responsive throughout its range. Mellow and defined on the“G” and“D” and bold and strong across the“A” while the“E” is extremely bright and accurate. It takes years for the soundwood in these classic violins to age and give you the mellow tones that a violinist is looking for. I believe this violin is there. It had no strings or bridge and the neck had come apart from the body. There is a tiny chip on the chin rest which does not affect the use. Inside is an old paper label, signed"Copy of Antonius Stradiuarius( yes that's with a u) Made in Austria" I carried it to my music store and asked them to repair it. I'm including the bill so you can see what has been done. The fiddle is very popular here in Southeast Missouri so I had a new set of Prelude strings put on it and a new bridge which is cut lower for fiddle playing. There is a new fine tuner on the E-string. It has all been cleaned and oiled. Pe gs were set and glued in the neck to hold it securely in place. I've played it and it ... morehas a ver y beautiful tone. If it wasn't so small. I'd keep it as I lo ve the tone of this fiddle. The body of this fiddle measures 12.25" x 7" across the widest part of the bottom. Overall length is 20.25" The old case is in very good condition for its age and all the latches hold securely. They both measure approx. 25"L and there are scratches and scuffs and the hair is totally worn. One of the frogs is missing its inlay and may need a repair. The other bow is a German made"Maistro" The violin is used with scratches. Scuffs and nicks. The fingerboard has become completely detached from the violin and needs to be repaired. There is a large crack running up the sound board from the bottom edge to just above the f hole. The tuning pegs appear to be in pretty good shape. The tailpiece, chin rest and bridge each appear to be in fair shape with wear. The sound post has fallen out of place and is loose in the violin. Any cosmetic wear should be evident in the photos provided. You are bidding on a vintage 4/4 violin. The overall length is 23" The body length is 14" and 8" wide at the widest point. The bows included are both marked"Japan" but do not have hair. They are not in good shape.This violin has its bridge but it is not attached and needs new strings, see photos for details. The back appears to be carved from two pieces of wood that were butted together. It looks like it was a nice instrument when it was new. This is an antique violin that was given to me by an old friend. It was his grand fathers. I am not familiar with instruments and I really have no idea about this one. All I can say is that it has a label inside of it that reads" Antonius Straduvarius Cremonenfis Faciebat Anno 1716" I also know that Stradivarius violins are extremely rare and expensive. I dont know if i have a real or fake one. take a good look in the pics. i am not hiding anything. if you look closely at the 2 pics that show the inside of the violin you can see the label that I am talking about. 1) ANTIQUE STUDENT STRADIVARIUS COPY with A Case But No Bow. Do not know the country of origin. Date of manufacture, or whether it was handmade or mass produced assembly line style. It has two tags glued on the inside. One reads" REGRADUATED& CONDITIONED BY W.H. BROWN. WOODSTOCK, ONT. 1948" So, from that I assume that the violin was made a good number of years before 1948. The other tag, which appears to be much older, reads as follows" Antonius Stradivarius Cremonenfis/ Faciebat Anno 1716-and following that are the initials" AS" topped off with a cross that extends down between the two letters. These, the cross and initials, are encircled by two circles. NOTE: This does not make it an actual Stradivarius. Many early and cheaper copies were made with this same tag attatched to the inside. It plays well I had a local musician string tune and play it. He says it sounds awsome. This violin is from an estate collection. Untouched for many many years. It has no label, so we believe that it may be a c.1900 German Stradivarius copy(not 100% sure, see images) It measures 23 1/8" long overall, with 8 1/4" x 14" long back(not including button) It features beautiful flamed grain wood, with nicely formed f-holes with tiny"nicks. The scroll is finely hand carved, and the purfling is nicely inlayed. Ebony finger board. It displays beautifully, and likely will be a fine player. Case indluded. No bow. Condition: As-found/ not played in many years. Old/ uncleaned varnish. Sound post is in place. We see a tight crack at the saddle, what what my be an old glue repair. This is a rather old violin. I am not familiar with musical instruments and I really have no idea about this one. It has a label inside that reads'Antonius Straduvarius Cremonenfis Faciebat Anno 1716' There are two small hairline cracks on the top surface- bottom looks fine. It measures 23 1/2" long by 8" wide so guessing it is a full size. This instrument also has some unique carved wood design on the top end of the neck. Neck to body feels and looks very tight.
