Highly flamed one-piece maple back. Flame maple sides and neck. Spruce top. No visible cracks or damage, a couple minor varnish scratches, but otherwise in excellent original condition. It is interesting to note that Wurlitzer music of Boston has a similar instrument for $1795. Chicago Stringed Instruments has one in their $2000- $5000 section. Also, J. R. Judd Violins has one in their $2000- $5000 section. So it appears that these violins are of quality, and that there are a few out there. There is a bridge, soundpost and tailpiece in the case, but no strings. There is also a cheap wood bow included. length of back is about 357mm. Old German violin by E.R. Pfretzshner, great sound, 4/4
Up for sale is the handmade copy of the Antonius Stradivarius violin made by E.R. Pfretzschner in 1953 in West Germany. That is what the label inside says. Another label on the other side bares the mark of distigtion. It is my understanding that this is the higher quality instrument by the maker as marked. Violin has 4/4 size and in very good condition. It has a very small repared crack under the chin rest( see picture) that does not effect the playing and also has some scratches on the upper deck that can be easily touched up if needed. Nut looks new so is the bridge and the tail piece. The G.D,A strings are Pirastro brand new, the E string is old one and can be relaced if desired. I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown ... morein pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. antique German Strad copy violin fiddle
This is a turn of the 20th Century Strad copy from Germany. I would love to charge more money for this violin than I am asking. But I think prospective buyers would be resistant. I don't know. I say this because this violin has gone through a few bumps in life and perhaps a buyer would be put off by that. However, it also has a wonderful, big tone, and easy playability, hence my contention that whoever buys this instrument is going to get the deal of a lifetime. Here's why: When this poor old thing arrived at the fiddle hospital. It had a mangled scroll and neck beyond repair, some cracked rib areas, cosmetic damage, and a tired, thin tone. Rather than mess around with the neck, we replaced it with a high quality, nicely figured maple neck. Check out the scroll. It's a beauty. Next. We took the violin apart, re-graduated the top ... moreplate and back to proper thicknesses, installed a high quality spruce bass bar, high quality spruce sound post, new willow upper and lower blocks, and a small rib graft across the end button hole. It has four corner blocks as well. The neck setting was perfect, the neck angle and centering are just right. Notice the nicely fitted ebony crown on the heel. The spruce top on this violin is well-selected wood with a good straight. Medium grain. The back is modestly figured maple. There is some damage to the purfling here and there(but not much) and the fiddle, as I mentioned, has the usual bumps, nicks and booboos that can accumulate over time. There are no major cracks or structural liabilities to worry about. This violin is ready to go! Up for sale is a very nice vintage full size violin. I believe this is a german strat copy but it is a very nice violin and it sounds amazing. It is even all across the strings and it has a new set of prim strings on it. It has plenty of volume in my opinion and well I cant describe its sound other than it has a beutiful well matured voice that can only come from an aged instrument. It has no issues or cracks that I can see it. It has a nice dark finish to the wood. The violin came from Portugal from a reputable violin dealer. It has no label inside but I feel like it is probably german from around the turn of the century. The violins of the famous family of Friedrich August Glass are unique and can be easily identified by anyone familiar with them. I have had the good fortune of owning many. From all generations of the family, and have never found a genuine Glass violin that does not sound great. The attributes that are consistent on all Glass violins include original treatment to the lower f hole wing, a narrow, often rather tall button, excellent woods, especially well-figured spruce, a yellow brown varnish of a very resilient and transparent quality, a broad belly and bold scroll. From William Henley's Universal Dictionary of Violin and Bow Makers, This example is in particularly good condition. Only four small repairs. One at the saddle on the bass side, another below the bass side f hole, one at the bottom of the treble bout and a wing crack. All the repairs are old, well-done and stable. There are no damages to the ribs or back and the varnish is the fine original oil varnish that was found on the best examples. The violin has be expertly set up with new. Fitted, ebony pegs, new sound post, and a new custom fitted and carved bridge. This violin has been completely checked and is ready for immediate performance. German violin (1/2) violon geige fiddle
I am offering this 1/2 sized violin for sale. I know nothing of its history but it is a German factory-made Helmke violin in like new condition. It has been upgraded with a Wittner tailpiece and good strings. It is lined and blocked in all 4 corners and produces good tone. There are no cracks. Separations, loose joints of any kind, not even scratching from the fine tuners. It comes with a backpack-style case, shoulder rest, and a newer octagonal A. Breton bow with good hair and no warping that is a step up from the beginner level. I do not believe it to be older than a decade or so. This instrument is set up and ready to go for a beginning student aged 7-9.

This is a beautiful old Full size Maggini violin.Labeled as"Copy Of Giovan Paulo Maggini. Made In Germany" There is also wrinting in pencil above the label that states" Repaired by Lee& Annie 7-10-1996 I do not know the exact age but it is quite old. The violin exibits a nice burnt orange varnish over an amber ground with Chetsnut highlights.the top and bottom plates have wonderful arching.The top plate has several well repaired hairline cracks, which can be seen in the pictures.all are stable and nonmoving. the the double purfling is expertly laid in and the f-holes are well done.the back plate has no cracks or damage.it is a highly flamed 2 piece with lots of playing wear to the varnish.the sides,neck and pegbox are highly flamed as well.the violin has a great look and a nice patina that I believe is legit play wear. ... morethe neck is strong and graceful, the angl is very comfortable, making playing a breeze.The scroll is deep cut and pleasing to the eye.the pegbox appears to be grafted, there is an old repair where the scroll has broken at the d string peg hole, but it is very tight and stable. the ebony pegs are well fit and do not slip nor freeze.the fingerboard shows no signs of string grooves and is nicely scooped.the bridge looks to be newer and fits well.the string height has a slightly lower action for faster response and ease of play. the strings are older but still have some life left in them.If you are looking for wondeful old violin with the rich sound that only be earned with maturity, and you do not want the repair problems that some times comes with older violins, this one is for you.while she has had some repairs in her lifetime she is ready to be played right out of the case! Kayser German violin made for Wm. Smith & Son, needs repair, 4/4 size fiddle
This is a full 4/4 size violin. Complete, sound post is standing, but it has a crack to the right of the tailpiece, which extends from the purfling to about 3/4" beyond the end of the tailpiece. The last inch or so of the crack is not separated, but there is a line visible in that area. It has real purfling. The label inside says: TON-KLAR The Kayser Made in Germany expressly for William Lewis and Son Chicago. IL No. 134. There is a smaller label under the right F hole with the number 72370. The first 7 is raised slightly above the rest of the numbers. It comes with an old wooden coffin case which needs cleaning. And needs a latch replaced. The back is a nicely flamed one piece with no soundpost cracks, there is one small crack pictured by the chinrest area. There are some top cracks, but none in the soundpost area. One picture shows an open crack under the chinrest. The bows are unmarked. It is playable but would benefit from some repairs and strings. Sold as is for parts or repair, no returns. Old 4/4 German Violin Copy Of Italian Maker Amati!
An old 4/4 size German violin made on an Amati pattern in the late 19th or early 20th century. The original label reads"Nicolaus Amatus Cremonen Hieronymi Filiae Antonij Nepos Fecit 1677" The last two numbers of the date are handwritten. Overall length of the violin is about 23 1/4" Corpus 14 1/16" Upper bout 6 5/8" Middle bout 4 1/2" Lower bout 8 3/16" Stop 5 1/4. The table is made of two pieces of good quality fine grain spruce. Flamed two piece maple back. Ribs, neck and scroll. Original reddish varnish on a yellow ground. The instrument has survived in quite good condition with only miner signs of use. I don't see any cracks or any evidence of repairs. To me the tone seems even and not to bright or dark. Fiddly kind of tone. It is in perfect condition, no major issues, normal cosmetic issues for an older used instrument(random scratches, but they seem to make it more beautiful) bridge is intact, everythig included- string, tuners, etc. I will also include the bow which is made of wood and says L Bausch on it. I had this violin that I bought from my Uncle years ago.finally I took it to a renown luthier last year who builds some beautiful violins and paid him about $250 total for the work he did to cut a new nut. Re-brace the inside on the violin,not a bridge pin.small chips of wood glued) and sell me and strung the Honduran horse hair bow, a new bridge, chin thing, tali piece.I have the original tail piece, chin thing. Fine German Violin by Holm Viertel (Warm/Dark Tone)
The name“Aix-la-Chapelle” on the label. Is the French name of the German city of Aachen. This is a fine German violin with the desirable warm/dark tone that many violinists and fiddlers are looking for. It is set up with D’Addario Zyex strings. The only repair is a short wing crack. A very good German violin bow stamped Gotthard Schuster
Gotthard Schuster(b. 1903) initially studied bowmaking under Emanuel Schuster in Shönbach. In 1928 he passed his Master Craftsman examination and in 1928 opened his own workshop. In the same town. He moved to Bubenreuth in 1946. This particular bow has truly extraordinary playing properties- exceptionally good articulation and response to subtlety. Greatly aided by a very firm stick that allows for pressure and big tone. All professional violinists who have tried this bow have commented on the ease of execution it allows to the most difficult passages. This bow would be an asset to a demanding violinist. I believe it is original to the piece. Although I can not find any markings on it. Needs new hairs, 29" long and 60 grams in weight. Partially octagonal,and round, and maybe silver mounts? Appears to be a good sturdy pernambuco. Still has very good camber and is fairly straight. Would make some owner of a Lowendall violin a great bow or present. Antique Bohemia or French Violin 200+ plus Old German violin
It is a lot for two violins. Normal 0 0 2 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 First is a good'antique' sounding violin. Probably by 18 century Prague master as shown on the hole behind A peg. The sound quality not avaialble from new isntruments. It is a very flat model. Local luthier claim it is very very old as the rim/edge of wood has got rotten due to age. The varnish is yellowish brown. Body length 352-352mm. Numerous stable repairs well done. No current open cracks. The sound characteres are very rich warm and loud. The second violin seems to be german/austrian origin. Around 100 years old, 357mm length, golden and reddish varnish. with a catalogue number engraved near the back button. General Stradi model, immdeiate playable once set up. Actual postage needs to be calculated based on specific location)
