I take great pride in describing things fairly and shipping them very quickly. item as advertised every time. there is a split down the middle of the back of the instrument. there are some marks on this but nothing of great concern. there is no cracking or splitting in the wood all of the patina or the face of the instrument is in great shape. No defects in the details or painted on detail. 1917 easy method mandolin guitar. The Liberty model Felix Schmidt. manufactured in Chicago Illinois. there are 2 very small holes in the instrument. I think that is from where a music stand must go. please see pictures for all detail. I have given this a pretty thorough cleaning however I would have gotten around the pegs a little better if there were no strings. please inspect the pictures carefully. VINTAGE MANDOLIN/HARP 1915
This is a very old item. The date on it is 1915. It is still intact and can be played. It is however out of tune and I have no idea how you'd go about tuning it. It's with all the original pieces. There visible signs of wear on it such as nicks and scratches. Would probably work better for a display item than an actual instrument!

This auction is for the MANDOLIN you see here. I thought it was a dulcimer. But it says Mandolin Harp, as you can see by the paper in the center. Has patent dates of 1894, 1899 and 1900. In very nice condition, but it does appear to be missing 3 strings(picture#10) and there is a crack in one of the pieces of wood(picture#6) Not sure how complete it is, it comes exactly as you see it here. 19.5" long, 15-3/8" wide at the bottom. You will see in the last picture the number"5397" stamped into the wood on the back. Not sure what that number represents. I WILL SHIP INTERNATIONALLY. The wooden back has some issues. Warpage, cracks etc. as clearly shown in photos. There are 46 tuning posts but only 44 strings. Two strings are missing. Patented May 29. 1894. This Harp has been hanging on the wall of a residence for 50 years. It says on the label. Guitar Columbia Zeffor Mandolin Harp. Trade Mark 436199, Finest Quality Made in Saxon. It's size is 15" wide by 19" I tried counting the strings 72? There are 2 splits in the wood. They didn't show in the photos well, but look closely at the decal of the children, the splits are visible there.

Hard to find piece with grand piano-shaped top measures 20.25" long x 11.25" wide. 22 strings, which appear to be original, attached to metal tuning pegs(also original) Label from American Harp is still attached and visible through the sound hole. The letter"P" is printed above the logo. The applied paper at the base with the note letters and numbers is flaking off in places(see photo) There is also a vertial crack in the wood originating at the sound hole and going down through the number 11. The Mandolin harp made in Saxony, Germany
A Dornis& Leonhardt mandolin harp probably made in the 1920s' It was made in Saxony. Germany. There is a crack down the middle of the wooden case and a couple of strings are missing. The strings still play but I don't know if the harp can be fixed to be playable again. It would be a unique piece of art to hang on a wall or part of an antique musical collection.

This is an antique Mandolin Harp. I can not find a makers name any where on the instrument. It has a paten date of 1894. There are 4 missing strings. The finnish is heavily checked. There are no noticeable cracks in the wood. It measures 20 inches by 13 inches. There is a small amount of separation of the back board from the side where the wood has warped slightly(see last pictures) It shows minor scratches from use. Overall I would say that it is in good condition. It comes with it's original box and key. There is also some music and a music stand that can be inserted into the instrument near the top. Rare Good Condition Playable Antique Mandolin Harp Lap Harp Fretless Zither
This rare antique instrument is a Mandolin Harp made by the Bell Harp Company of Cedarhurst. N.Y. The condition of this instrument is outstanding for it's age, and it was well cared for over the years. The wood has no cracks and appears to be glued together well yet. The gloss finish shows no cracks, chips, or crazing. The only marks appear to be from actual use. It has 5 chords on the left-hand side which are strummed individually, depending on the key of the song, as the melody is picked out on the right-hand side. There is one string that is broken(see close-up picture) but with the string replaced it is still playable! It comes in it's original box with the original paperwork included. There is the original instruction book on how to play it with the numbered system printed on the instrument, and three song books which ... moreappear to have been purchased later. The large Zither book is printed in English and German. Also included are the tuning wrench, a hammer-like thing(don't know what it's called) which is used to play it, and some papers and notes by the original purchaser. These types of instruments came in many different styles and are all called by different names such as a American Zither. Fretless Zither, Chorded Zither, Lap Harp, etc. These were sold door to door around the early 1900s as parlor instruments, but when the phonograph became more popular and less expensive shortly after, they ceased to be in vogue and manufacturing stopped. It could have been made from anytime around the 1890s to the early 1930s. There is a number on the back, but I could find nothing about the company on the internet. 20" Antique Mandolin Harp Played by My Dad and His Sisters Early 1920's
It is my understanding that the harp has been in our family for approx. 90 years and was either played by my Grandmother in later life or by my Dad and his two sisters in the 1920's era. It's 20 inches tall and 13 inches wide at the base and has 46 strings(all in perfect working order) probably just needs a good tune-up. There is some wear along the sides and edges but the beautiful graphics look to be intact. I can't quite make out the center sound box decal- looks like International Conservatory something or other. Antique Appalachian Instrument, Mandolin Harp, Lap Harp, in Playable Condition
This rare antique instrument is called a Mandolin Harp made by the Bell Harp Company of Cedarhurst. N.Y. There is a number on the back. But I could find nothing about the company on the internet. The condition of this instrument is outstanding for it's age. And it was well cared for over the years. The wood has no cracks and appears to be glued together very well yet. The gloss finish shows no cracks, chips, or crazing. The only marks appear to be from actual use. It has 5 chords on the left-hand side which are strummed individually, depending on the key of the song, as the melody is picked out on the right-hand side. There is one string that is broken(see close-up pictures) but with the string replaced it is still playable! It comes in it's original box with the original paperwork included. There is the original instruction ... morebook on how to play it with the numbered system printed on the instrument, and three song books which appear to have been purchased later. The large Zither book is printed in English and German. Also included are the tuning wrench, a hammer-like thing(don't know what it's called) and some papers and notes by the original purchaser which appear to be notes on lessons. According to my research these types of instruments came in many different styles and are all called by different names such as a American Zither. Fretless Zither, Chorded Zither, Lap Harp, etc. Many were sold door to door around the late 1800s to early 1900s as parlor instruments, but when the phonograph became more popular and less expensive, they ceased to be in vogue and manufacturing stopped. It could have been made from anytime around the 1890s to the early 1930s. Please ask any questions before purchasing and I will answer to the best of my ability but I am not an instrument expert.

The instrument is made of wood with 45 metal tuning pegs and steel strings, 19 x 13 x 1 1/2 inches approximate size. Details on the top of the instrument are a decal and paper. Also included with the Bell Harp instrument are sheet music holder(inserts into holes on the edge of the top) finger picks, steel tuner, original company postcard, and three music books- Instructor for the mandolin-guitar method, Leisure Hours series 21, and Leisure Hours series 22(collections of standard ... moreand up-to-date songs and melodies arranged for all numerical instruments) Copyright on the last page of the Series 22 music book says' Copyright 1935 by Treasure Chest Publications, Inc. published by Zither Music Co. No other dates were found on the instrument or the music books. Instrument, music books, and other supplies are included in it's original box. Condition: After a number of moves. Including East coast to Pacific northwest, the wooden back of the instrument has popped off. Probably due to differences in humidity. No parts are missing but the back needs to be glued back onto the instrument. Several of the steel strings are loose and 1 brass pin that holds the string in place needs to be straightened. Not shown in the photos but included with the instrument- a wooden bar that attaches to the end of the instrument covering the brass pins that anchor the steel strings. Overall there is little wear on the instrument.

The one book is a very old Catalogue of Music that you could order from in the late 1800's American Mandolin Harp. It measures 9 1/4" x 6" It is great to see if you can recognize some of the music. The harp has 45 attached pegs and 44coiled original strings. It is missing the last and smallest string. It has a yellow band which includes intricate letters. Numbers and musical notes. There is a folk art design around the center. It is worn and extremely dusty in the center. Would prefer the buyer to clean as we are not experts in this field. The back has the number 5502 stamped on the bottom. The long straight side is 19.25" long. Base 12.25" Top 6.25" drastic straight slant which slopes into a curve 13" wide at the widest point. Harp mandola/mandolin. Very distinctive, great sound, Handmade craftsmanship! Click picture to enlarge Here is a very distinctive instrument. A Harp mandola. I seem to recall that it was made in Sweden. It was made within the last 8 years. You might wonder about the harp part. As in were are the harp strings? Well as you can see, the body extends, on the bass side, over the finger board. This means it has a very large sound chamber. Antique harp mandolins imitated the Harp guitars of that era with an arched sound box extension above the bass side fingerboard. Just look up Dyer mandolin on google and you will see what I mean. In this instance the builder brought that extension right onto the fingerboard. On the back, you will see, the neck has kept its original comfortable thickness and so appears recessed. Dimensions arrr 37.5 x 12 x 1.75 ... moreinches The quality is excellent. And carries forward that modern Swedish simplicity of design. The body appears to be rosewood while the top is spruce. The upper chamber continues to be spruce until the last quarter, which is rosewood. You will note that the treble side has a low slung cut-away that allows full and easy access to the upper positions. The sound hole is a lovely design pierced through and carved so that it seems like a net or spider's web over the sound hole. There is no binding or strap buttons. There is no damage, but please keep in mind that it is a used instrument and so will show signs of use, thought it has been well cared for. There is no case. This auction is for the mandola only. Please study the photos. As they say. A picture is worth a thousand words. I am an amateur musician and collector. I only sell playable. Well made vintage instruments. For your consideration is an Antique Zither with case and book dating 1884. I do not know the maker of this instrument and I am sure it will need new strings and tuning. Has the harp section and a guitar section. Wood looks good. Some scuff from wear over the guitar section from use. Has a metal finger pick found in the box is included. The musical book shows instructions and is written in English and I believe German. But I really am not sure. The book is tattered as you can see. The harp has great patina and crazing. It was my Aunt Agnes Brady's Harp who passed away in 1988. She was a grade school teacher in Nanicoke. PA from ~ 1930 to 1970. She used the harp in her classroom. Most of the children, she taught were the sons and daughters of Coal Miners. My father was one of her students. The Coal Miners of Northeast of Pennsylvania fueled the Industrial Revolution of the United States with their deep mining of anthracite coal. He brother(my grandfather) worked in the coal mines for $.50 a day. He took a higher paying job at $1.00 a day. He dug small tunnels to look for the next vein of coal. THERE IS A TAG ON INSIDE THAT IS LEDGEABLE, IF YOU LOOK HARD. ALL THE STRINGS ARE THERE ACCEPT ONE. ROUGH SHAPE ON EXTERIOR. ALL OCTIVES& NUMBERS ARE LEDGEABLE. SOME SCREWS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE BACK PLATE.
