I believe the sound post is missing. This looks to be a good quality made violin. It measures 23" overall and has a 14" body. Measuring 6 5/8" at the upper bout and 8" at the lower. The spruce top has medium to wide grain and is straight and consistent throughout. The wood on this violin was well selected. The color, a deep mahogany red, complements the violin well. There is highlighting on the scroll, often a French technique, perhaps copied here. This is no factory fiddle. It is hand made and is a one-of-a-kind. Both in appearance and sound. The width at the nut is 22mm, a smidgen narrow if you are a big guy, but just right for a petite woman, someone with small hands or a child. The button has been repaired rather nicely, and you can see that there is a well-fitted ebony crown securely in place. This instrument has no cracks or repairs outstanding and is outfitted ... morewith: a quality ebony fingerboard. Properly planed and dressed a Wittner carbon fiber tailpiece new Dominant strings an ebony Guarneri-style chin rest new ebony nut new bridge new sound post ebony pegs. Very nice. Vintage violin made in Germany. Tag on the inside reads: Joh. Bapt. Schweitzer fecit at forman hierenym amati pestini 1813 made in Germany. Solid spruce top, maple one piece back, maple sides. There are two pins on back by the tail and one pin on the back by the neck joint. There are some minor scratches/wear marks which are normal for an instrument this age. No cracks in wood but one slight separation by the tailpiece anchor(see picture 12) Very open and woody sound-plays very smooth all the way up the neck. antique German Strad copy violin fiddle
This is a turn of the 20th Century Strad copy from Germany. I would love to charge more money for this violin than I am asking. But I think prospective buyers would be resistant. I don't know. I say this because this violin has gone through a few bumps in life and perhaps a buyer would be put off by that. However, it also has a wonderful, big tone, and easy playability, hence my contention that whoever buys this instrument is going to get the deal of a lifetime. Here's why: When this poor old thing arrived at the fiddle hospital. It had a mangled scroll and neck beyond repair, some cracked rib areas, cosmetic damage, and a tired, thin tone. Rather than mess around with the neck, we replaced it with a high quality, nicely figured maple neck. Check out the scroll. It's a beauty. Next. We took the violin apart, re-graduated the top ... moreplate and back to proper thicknesses, installed a high quality spruce bass bar, high quality spruce sound post, new willow upper and lower blocks, and a small rib graft across the end button hole. It has four corner blocks as well. The neck setting was perfect, the neck angle and centering are just right. Notice the nicely fitted ebony crown on the heel. The spruce top on this violin is well-selected wood with a good straight. Medium grain. The back is modestly figured maple. There is some damage to the purfling here and there(but not much) and the fiddle, as I mentioned, has the usual bumps, nicks and booboos that can accumulate over time. There are no major cracks or structural liabilities to worry about. This violin is ready to go! It's sort of a cherry color. The 4 strings are still intact and not broken. The violin does have some small scratches/knicks but they aren't bad and it's still in good condition. Inside the violin, you can see the label that says, W. Wilkanowski Violin Maker 1942#200. It comes inside a black case that has a purple lining. OLD ANTIQUE JEROME THIBOUVILLE-LAMY VIOLIN FIDDLE FRANCE NICE!
Here's a nice old violin from maker Jerome Thibouville-Lamy. This is a Stradivarius copy. The inside tag reads Antonius Straduarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1721. There is the AS symbol and then there is a violin with rays and under that it says Made In France. I've seen the lyre surrounded by an aura with JTL underneath. Which is the sign for the JTL"Sarasate" instruments, but this is different. I know this is attributed to JTL. I had one professional shop look at this a few years back and I was told that this was several grades above the Medio Fino violins from JTL. Probably from early 1900's. I also recently spent the money and had this professionally restored. It is ready to play! A new bridge was made, the neck was adjusted to be at the right height. Soundpost also adjusted and set. Correct set-up worth the price ... morealone! There are a few old repaired cracks, solid, which do not affect playability. There is a small repaired crack on the back towards the left side, and there is another repaired crack that extends from the top of the right side f-hole. These can be seen in the pics. These are not critical, only cosmetic, and do not affect playability. Lower bout is about 8 1/8" Upper bout is about 6 5/8" Length of back is about 14" up to the button. Total length is about 23 3/8" Comes in an old hardshell case. Nice 2 piece back. This is a great sounding violin that I have had for many years that is ready to make beautiful music. Old Vintage Antique? Violin 4/4 size no label w/ case, flamed back fiddle
This is an old. Full-size violin/fiddle with no label in a very old case. I love the deep red/brown finish on this one! Her tone is as deep and mellow as her finish. I don't know much about this and I can't even remember where I picked her up- an antique store in Virginia or Illinois, maybe. Anyway, she has personality and she's not built perfect enough to have been factory made. I also don't think she was made by a famous luthier. That being said, she's playable and complete with strings, bridge(it needs to be trimmed- the strings set a little high) unmatched pegs, soundpost(may need to be adjusted for better sound) etc. I think a new set of quality strings and a few tweaks to the bridge and soundpost and this one would really purr. Beautiful antique Caspar da Salo in Brescia 1570 violin/fiddle 4/4
We purchased this antique(circa 1900) Caspar da Salo1570 violin/fiddle from a violin maker/restorer who specializes in high quality violins from Germany. Italy, and France. It may need some tuning but it is in excellent condition. There are no cracks(repaired or otherwise) or open seams, and the wood is in perfect condition. There is no warping of the neck or any other area. I do not know the type of wood used for the body or pegs, but these violins were built in Germany based on the Italian Caspar da Sola model and are considered very fine violins. The label inside the body reads Casper Da Salo in Brescia 1570 made in Germany. Comes with hard case of synthetic leather-has some scrape marks and dents(see picture) fiberglass and horsehair bow in excellent condition, two tuning forks, several pieces of amber, and 4 tone music tuner.

I have come up with ziltch while trying to research this critter. Body is 14" about 22" overall. Fingerboard is about 9 3/4" to the"nut" fret. Has 3 bone feet with one a replacement. No sound post found. Has a tunnel under the fingerboard(sympathetic string pathway? Has some cracks on shoulders(pictures) No bridge there now. Seems straight forward to get back into service. Has zither type peg tuners. Has a metal tail piece. I mostly have it to get the dimentions measured so I can make a copy someday. Last shot at this item.

Description Antique Singer Sewing Machine Model 12. New Family Gilt and Mother of Pearl 1881 Fiddle Base Treadle What a gorgeous little Singer model#12. Born June 6th of 1881. It has all its mother of pearl inlay and most but not all of its guilt intact. What a great show piece. This is a working treadle with the original owner’s manual in delicate condition. A few needles,its boat shuttles, bobbin, and many attachments included. The hand wheel turns freely. The needle goes up and down smoothly. Both its boat shuttles are in good operating condition. It does make stitches. The base attachment hinges are present but not attached to their rivets. The drawers and lift extention are also in fantastic condition. Although not mint the treadle head is way above average for its 130+ years of age. The treadle cabinet is solid walnut(no veneer) It ... moreis intact. With no wormwood or other structural damage. There are only a few water marks a few edge dings, and a little darkening behind the machine from oiling and a couple other small mars. There is a water spot from someones glass as shown on both the coffin top and table top. The drawers and lift extention are also in wonderful condition. It displays well. The original rectangular coffin top also is in solid condition with only a small chip missing from the logo and on top rim. And a stain or two on top and a check in the top wood. The lock and lid hooks are present and intact. The treadle base still has much of the guilt showing on its emblems. It moves freely, and sports a wood pitman arm which functions well but is not perfect. This will make a great addition to any collection. Normal 0 Simson and Frey Violin 4/4 Antique The label reads: Simson and Frey“Master violin” Copy of Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Anno 1714 Made in New York. USA(Also the number 3711 is written by hand in pencil on the label) Simson and Frey were importers and dealers of instruments based out of New York. They were single import company for the US and Canada for a lot manufacturers from Europe. Henrich Roth teamed with Max Scherl to buy the Simson& Frey in the early 1930s. They renamed it Scherl& Roth and in 1938. The company moved from New York to Cleveland, Ohio. This violin probably dates to the 1920s since it has the New York Label. It’s more than likely based on the type of Stradivarius that sits in the Met. They have 3 in the their collection dated from 1714. 1694 and 1693. Condition: The violin is in good playing condition. ... moreThere is a“sound post" crack in the back that has been repaired(glued closed. With no sign of glue on the back. see the photo of lower back bout. The remnants of the crack can be seen just left of the center in the upper portion of that photo. Its a zig zag shape. There is also a small(approx 0.12 inch) ding on the upper right side of the back(see photo) No other cracks or open seams. The all original varnish shows some minor scratches. Wear and marks due to age. Welcome to my auction for a beautiful vintage singer sewing machine model no 12.the much sought after fiddle base new family. ~ serial number 4861722/ 1155922~ This machine is in working order.Its quite stiff and definitely needs oiling but everything moves as it should including the bobbin winder and stitch adjustment knob.The bullet shuttle is included and in good condition also comes with 2 bobbins. As you can see by the photos the decals are missing in places but overall fairly complete especially considering its age.I often see singers half the age of this in similar condition. It looks like it has been well oiled over the years and has a layer of dry oil build up over most of the machine-the orangey yellowish tinge over most of the base-see pics.this scratches off with a fingernail however I have left it Im sure you could remove this ... morewith kerosene or similar but I haven't tried for fear of damaging the decals. Antique coin silver ladle from an estate. It is marked on the back B G Lion. W, Head or Profile. I believe this is manufactured by Jacob woods and retailed by Baldwin Gardner. From my research I came up with a date of 1834- 1839. It does have a monogram. Its approximately 7" in length. The bowl is approximately 2 9/16" wide. Total weight is 87.3 grams. I have not attempted to clean or polish this piece.

ANTIQUE STERLING SLVR IRISH FIDDLE SPOON ARMORIAL HOUND & HARE 1839 WALSH DUBLIN
This teaspoon is in the fiddle pattern with the pip to the back. It has a hand engraved crest or armorial of a hound chasing a hare to the front of the handle. The crest is rubbed and a bit hard to make out but we are very sure that is what it is. The dog looks like a greyhound. The owner's initials(JB) are engraved to the drop at the back of the spoon. Please see photos. It is 5 3/4" long and weighs.8 oz. on our postal scale. It is fully hallmarked to the back of the stem with the Irish harp. Hibernia, the queen's head duty mark and the maker’s mark for Peter Walsh, active in the early 19th Century in Dublin. It has the date mark“T” for 1839. As you can see by the lable it is called a Phono Fiddle and it is unusual to find them complete with it's horn and bow. I found it amazing how much sound is sent through the resonator to the horn. Antique Violin! American handmade full size fiddle from 1911 SEE IT! HEAR IT! VIDEO! This is a full size violin. It is American made in 1911. Inside is written. In pencil on the wood: F. Dolan, Evinsville, Indiana, U.S.A 12/29/11 Made at the Violin Hospital" This Luthier wanted his violins to stand out. This one certainly does. The carving of the tone plates is very unusual in that it starts from a flat, almost concave plane with a gradual rise to an medium arch. The sides are not parallel, as can be seen in the photos. The violin is not warped nor misshapen through accident. The violin is very well carved from curly maple and the top is spruce. There is no missing wood and the violin is in excellent playing condition as the video demonstrates. There have been repairs to the top. These can be clearly seen in the photos. On the treble ... moreside of the top is a long crack repaired from the upper bout to the top of the F hole and then 2 parallel repaired cracks from the bottom of that same F hole into the lower bout. These are the only repairs I can see. There are of course marks and scratches typical of a well used violin that is 101 years old. Please judge for yourselves as to its sound. It certainly has good resonance. Oh yes, the purfiling is true inlay on the top, but the backplate appears to have it carved in. This Auction is for the violin only. This violin is for sale elsewhere so the auction could end early. The Auction is open to bidders with good histories. No bids will be accepted from first time bidders. Another Wonderful Antique Silver spoon offered for bids here. This one is an early American fiddle back"Pure Coin" silver spoon by E. Jaccard& Co. of St. Louis. Missouri. This silversmith was active from 1852- 1864. It is a large serving type spoon measuring aprox 8.5" long and 1.75" wide at the bowl. Weight is 47 grams. Handle is personalized with what looks to be: DT and CB. Couple of very minor dings in the bowl area but nothing bad at all. Can be easily straightened if desired. Vintage antique Stainer violin / fiddle w/ GEARED TUNERS & case! Ready to play!
Up for auction is a very interesting antique violin or fiddle in 4/4 size. It's totally playable. But a setup wouldn't hurt it any. It's a Stainer copy and I've been told that it was most likely manufactured in France or Germany in the late 1800's or early 1900's. As with other instruments built in the Stainer style, it has a bit more arch to the top and back. I've been playing old time fiddle tunes on it for the last year or so, but have recently upgraded to a Maggini style fiddle, so I've decided to let this one go. The condition of the finish is a little rough. With plenty of scratches and dings on both the front and back, but there are no open seams or cracks. Personally, I always liked the look of this instrument, and of course, you don't have to worry about a little scape. The fingerboard is in fine ... moreshape with no divots or grooves. The tailpiece is a modern replacement, as is the bridge. Probably my favorite feature of this instrument is the tuners. I've only seen a handful of fiddles with these old geared tuners. And I think this is the only particular one I've seen where the tuners are made from brass. The others I've seen appear to be steel or nickle. The tuner buttons appear to be bone, or ivory, but I think they are a synthetic material designed to simulate something like that, but I'm not sure. These tuners allow for easy tuning and hold well, especially considering their age. Tommy Jarrell, Frank George and many other traditional fiddlers use tuners like this. Not only do you not have to fight with cantankerous friction tuners, but they look pretty cool too. Included in the auction is what I beleive to be the original case. It's not a substantial case. But does have a great antique look to it. The main problem with the case is the missing handle. There are no bows included. As I've said, I've been playing this instrument for at least a year, and believe it to be solid and stable, but due to the age I'm selling it as-is. Shipping will

This is an excellent set of antique solid sterling forks in the fiddle thread pattern. Marked Young& Co, which consisted of Mrs. Nelson A Young and H.P. Buckley(1850-59) of New Orleans. Louisiana. There are also some pseudo hallmarks we don’t recognize. Some of the tines are slightly rounded. They’re in good condition. With only some light scratches from use over time. Some of the marks are faint, as is the mono, which I believe reads“Siren” They’re marked on the back in the French style. These forks are sturdy, weighing in at a respectable total of 12.85 troy ounces! They are 6 7/8” long. An excellent item for a collector of southern silver, or to brighten the table! Nice antique full size violin with case and 2 bows. Measures 23" overall. No label inside that I can see. The sound post is loose from inside but is in good condition. Violin is in nice. Undamaged condition(other than bad strings) with no repairs. The original finish on it has darkened with age. I have one other violin currently listed on ebay so please check my other auctions. 1905 Norwegian Hardanger Fiddle Violin Endre Sandland Folk Art Antique Telemark
This beautiful thing has been hanging on my wall for about twenty years and is labeled inside"Endre E Sandland.1905" on a paper label. There is also some text that I cannot make out. Probably a town name, etc. Total length is 24 1/2" with the length of the back at 14 1/8" Numerous crack repairs over the years, a couple of missing little pearl inlays on the fingerboard and the stenciling has faded a bit. It is complete and the neck geometry looks OK although the bridge seems a little low. It looked great on display, but I'm sure it needs to go to a shop to be made playable. I have no history as to its story, unfortunately. Its a long way from home, but I'm willing to sell internationally. A newer. Not great fitting viola case is included and will protect it during shipping.

This belonged to a gentleman who watched his Grandfather play it. The man is 74 years old now so we are sure this is over 100 years old. It is a HOPF VIolin or Fiddle. Im not sure which is correct.
