It has lovely tiger maple back. Sides, neck, and scroll. It has ebony tuners, fingerboard, chin rest, and tail piece. It is in very good used condition for its age with some moderate age appropriate wear. Some hairlines to the fingerboard, and minor separation to the bottom as shown. I believe the sound post is missing. This looks to be a good quality made violin. It measures 23" overall and has a 14" body. Measuring 6 5/8" at the upper bout and 8" at the lower. antique French 4/4 violin HENRY THOUVENEL excl playing cond no res This is a fantastic 19th century French violin with fantastic sound suitable for advanced and professional player. The stamp inside the violin says: THOUVENEL HENRY and TH in a circle. The back of the violin is made of one piece of super attractive tiger maple. And has no repairs or cracks. There iS A STamp near the button that says: POND& CO. ALBANY. I guess from the dealer in US who sold it. The sides and the scroll have the matching wood and except a dent. Or scratch from the old case have no damage( see the pic. The fingerboard has a piece of wood like a shim under it. I guess to make it higher. The top has some repairs; a long repair going through half of the violin under the bridge. I looked inside and can see a patch under the bridge. there are 2 other minor repairs( ... moreyou can see all in the pictures. And please ask for more pictures if you wish) The varnish has an orange yellow color with nice patina and all original with some shadings in the middle because of the repair. All repairs are strong and the seams tight. Needs new strings and may be a new bridge. Althoughthe old bridge works. The length of the body is 14 inches. No case. No bow.

Unusual Antique Handmade Frank Goodin 4/4 Violin W/ Bow and Wooden Case 1908. Bow is unmarked. Measures 29" long and has some wear. There are scratches and scuffs and the hair is somewhat worn. The plastic on the tip is cracked. The violin is used with scratches. Scuffs and nicks. The machine head tuners appear to be in good shape. Fingerboard has some wear. The tailpiece, chin rest and bridge each appear to be in good shape with some wear. There are no discernible cracks, aside from some old separation at some edges that have been long since glued. There is no sound post in place. Any cosmetic wear should be evident in the photos provided. The length of the violin is approx 23.5" and the body is about 14" The case has some wear but no foul odors and the latches work. 4/4 Professional Song Violin Handmade Single Back Dark Brown Vintage Antique
For sale is a professional size 4/4 violin made by Song. It is completely handmade and a single-back piece(most beginner violins and lower quality violins are made with two pieces glued together and the seam is visible; this violin is made entirely from one piece and so there is no seam) This is a very unusual and rare color. Which is somewhat difficult to capture in pictures with the flash. In some light it looks so dark as to be nearly black, but when light is shined on it you can see it's a rich, dark brown color. It has a certain degree of lenticularity, meaning the lines of the wood look like they shift when the light shifts, similar to how Tiger's Eye looks under moving light(in fact, it looks very much like a dark Tiger's Eye) Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what material this is made of, although I do know it's ... morenot common, so my loss is your gain. It plays very well. The violin also comes with a locking case(which has a humidity gauge) Two horsehair bows(one of which needs restrung) the strap, and chin rest. I just acquired 4 vintage violins from a elderly woman of 87 years. She told me that her late husbands family was musical and these came from an uncle. My guess is that its a very nice copy. This violin as well as all of the others has not been out of the case for over 30 years. It will need to be professionally set up and restrung. The body is 14" long and is 8" at the widest point. This violin appears to be in excellent condition. There are no cracks or repairs. The sound post is intact. You are bidding on a 1942 vintage/antique 4 string violin/fiddle by William Wilkanowski. 200. The violin itself is in very good condition and the wood is still shiny and good color. It's sort of a cherry color. The 4 strings are still intact and not broken. The violin does have some small scratches/knicks but they aren't bad and it's still in good condition. Inside the violin, you can see the label that says, W. Wilkanowski Violin Maker 1942#200. It comes inside a black case that has a purple lining. The case itself is in rough shape, with the leather coming off the handle, the metal parts are rusted and the edges are worn. See pictures. This is to be expected, given its age and how long its been sitting in storage. Antique 4/4 "Giovan Paulo Maggini", Old violin case, Two Vintage bows
This is very nice. Double purfled, 4/4 violin. It has has a well flamed two piece back and beautiful, hand applied varnish. I don't know if it's been re-done or not, looks to have been played a good deal. Well built, it is fully blocked and lined. The fingerboard has been shimmed. There appears to be an old saddle crack repair that didn't show in the pictures. I see no other issues, but as with any violin of this age, there may be repairs that I am unaware of. Please see pictures. All in all, in remarkable shape. It measures 23 1/4" long, with a 14" back and 8" lower bout. The sale includes an old"junker" case and two bows that need rehairing. The violin has an inner label that identifies it as a copy of a Stradivarius and it has the date that starts with 1700 but the rest of the date was never filled in. Old Vintage Karl Herrmann Andreas Morelli 4/4 violin circa 1920-30s Antique Rare
This violin was recently purchased from an estate sale and is in very nice condition for its age. I want to first state that I am not an expert on violins. So please study the pictures and ask any questions before bidding. I will do my absolute best to describe the violin as accurately as I can. From the research I have found. This violin came from the workshop of Karl Herrmann of Markneukirchen, Germany. Under the name Andreas Morelli, he made violins in the early 1900's. From what I read 1920's-1930's. It was said the violins he produced were of very good quality. Today they are sought after by many and are quite valuable. I took pictures of the label. Best I could. States Andreas Morelli, hand made Reproduction.A signature that I cannot make out.1750. As for the body. It has its share of nicks and dings, but does not look to ... morebe repaired anywhere that I can see. As you can see it has one very small crack on the left f-hole. I tried to picture it the best I could as well. that is the only crack that I can find anywhere on this violin. The varnish is original and a beautiful shade of red/orange. I wanted to show pictures of it and the beautiful two piece back indoors and out. It just changes colors. It is just a beautiful violin. I purchased new string for it the old ones were in horrible shape. The bridge is an Aubert.I assumed it was original to the violin. It also has another tailpiece not pictured that comes with it. I will be listing the bows that came with the violin in other auctions. The case is included. Because I am not an expert. Please, understand that I am not selling this item as Concert Ready! Darker wood on front could be cherry on back looks like burlwood. It looks perfect. As can be seen in the pictures the wood condition is perfect, except(naturally) for some age marks. Excellent selection of wood and it was probably made by a master luthier. The design is that of italian masters. Label says Bernadus Calcannus Fecit Genoa Anno 1782Varnish is shiny and there are no scratches nor any other damages except for some age marks. No line cracks. This is a 4/4 size violin. Strings are new, bridge is new. Pegs are probably the original. This violin will be suitable for a collector of old violins or professional player. Old Vintage Antique? Violin 4/4 size no label w/ case, flamed back fiddle
This is an old. Full-size violin/fiddle with no label in a very old case. I love the deep red/brown finish on this one! Her tone is as deep and mellow as her finish. I don't know much about this and I can't even remember where I picked her up- an antique store in Virginia or Illinois, maybe. Anyway, she has personality and she's not built perfect enough to have been factory made. I also don't think she was made by a famous luthier. That being said, she's playable and complete with strings, bridge(it needs to be trimmed- the strings set a little high) unmatched pegs, soundpost(may need to be adjusted for better sound) etc. I think a new set of quality strings and a few tweaks to the bridge and soundpost and this one would really purr. Up for sale is an antique 4/4 VIOLIN bearing the following label: Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis(2 nd line) Faciebot Anno 17(after the 17 is a hand written two-digit number for the date of manufacture. I can’t read these numbers at all) 3 rd line) Made in Germany. It is in excellent playing shape. The strings on it are not the best. And it would benefit greatly from a professional string set. The black tuning pegs are two of each. The upper pegs are slightly smaller than the lower pegs. The upper pegs also have a small inset white dot. I have tried to research this but short of paying to have this appraised. I am listing this violin as"in the school of Stradivarius" The violin measures 23 3/4 inches long. The body of the violin. From lower edge to upper edge(measuring the back) is 14 ½ inches with 8 inches across the lower ... morebell, 6 5/8 inches across the upper belly and 4 3/8 in the“waist” The Stradivarius violin was copied in France and in Germany throughout the 1800’s and into the early 1900’s. Some copies were very exact and even professionals used these violins. I have a beautiful vintage bow that is part of this violin. Bow& case lot. It is full length(29.25 inches) As I know very little about violins and bows(my husband’s collection) you will have to judge by the pictures. The violin is really very nice and sounds very nice. The back wood and side wood is flamed maple with a spruce top. Ebony end peg. Tail piece and fret board. The chin rest is Bakelite. There are some edge rubs and nicks and a repaired crack. There is a label inside that has a double line rectangle border and inside the border says: Rep by(2 nd line) W Bruggmann(3 rd line) Anno SS 1912. Having professional repairs seems to me that this was a cherished instrument and valuable enough to warrant the repair cost. The BOW is vintage and is marked only with the country Czechoslovakia. Beautiful antique Caspar da Salo in Brescia 1570 violin/fiddle 4/4
We purchased this antique(circa 1900) Caspar da Salo1570 violin/fiddle from a violin maker/restorer who specializes in high quality violins from Germany. Italy, and France. It may need some tuning but it is in excellent condition. There are no cracks(repaired or otherwise) or open seams, and the wood is in perfect condition. There is no warping of the neck or any other area. I do not know the type of wood used for the body or pegs, but these violins were built in Germany based on the Italian Caspar da Sola model and are considered very fine violins. The label inside the body reads Casper Da Salo in Brescia 1570 made in Germany. Comes with hard case of synthetic leather-has some scrape marks and dents(see picture) fiberglass and horsehair bow in excellent condition, two tuning forks, several pieces of amber, and 4 tone music tuner.

Antique Violin 4/4 Size. NIneteenth Century. No label. Double Purfling.
Antique 4/4 size violin. Violin has no label. The body measures about 14 1/4 inches long. There is an interesting double line of purfling. I don' know the age of this violin. But I would guess it was made sometime in the 19the century. Violin has a couple old repairs. Above the chin rest you will see a 1 3/4 inch long by 1/8 inch wide strip of wood inset in the spruce. On the left side of the neck you will see a thin 2 1/4 inch long piece of wood applied to the surface. Both these mends are clearly shown in my photos. Also shown is a 2 1/4 inch line on the right side which has been filled at one time. Where the back of the violin joins the neck and on either side the back is pulling away from the body& neck and needs to be glued and clamped. On the underside of the scroll(under the peg nearest the end) there is a rectangular hole ... moremeasuring about 1/2 inch long by 1/4 inch wide on one end and 5/16 inch wide on the other. You can look in this hole and see the shaft of the end peg and daylight on the other side(This does not show in any of my photos) I don't know if this hole is original to the violin or if it was added later, or why it is there. This was my mothers violin. She passed away and left it to me. I do not play, so I have decided to pass it on to someone who will enjoy it as much as she did. She played it from the time she was a 6 years old until she passed away last year. she was 68 years old. I do not have a great deal of knowledge about this so I have taken many pictures of it and it's case. they are in wonderful used condition. I comes with strings, tuning harp, original key, two bows, and two things of rosen. My mother last played this in an orchestra in MO. She was very proud of this! Antique/Vintage Compagnon Full Size 4/4 Violin Circa Early 20th Century
Wonderful antique/vintage Compagnon 4/4 violin from circa 1900 This great violin is now for sale as I no longer play due to the piano taking most my free time. From the research I have done it is an early 1900's model. It has the expected use wear and some marks but is in overall very good condition. It does come with a very old Reliance case which is very worn and tatty but it does the job and I didn't think this lovely instrument would look right in a modern case. The bow is in a playable condition but it may need a refurb at some point. The violin has recently had a professional set up including new strings. I received this 3/4 antique violin from an auction in West Lyden. NY. I have since returned it to working order by replacing the strings, bridge, and chin rest, as well as purchasing a fiberglass bow by Glasser- over $300 in repairs. The ticket inside the body says"Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis. Faciebad anno 17. Made in Germany" and depicts the A/S cross logo. I believe this to indicate that it is a pre-1957 Stradivarius copy(no date is inked in) Multiple mild abrasions exist on the front of the body. Which is an easy repair for capable hands. Hello all.heres an estate sale find someone might be interested in. Its an old. Antique violin with case and bow that needs a little help. Its labeled"Giovan Paolo Maggini in Bresia 16/38" the 38 is in pencil) Germany. Its stamped MAGGINI at the base of the neck on the back and a small Germany stamp near the chin rest. Its in descent shape other than the neck, that is a bit pulled away from its body at the attach point.see pic. 4) The finished is checked and there are nicks and scratches, but no major cracks that I can see in the top or back! The case is in old, but usable shape and the vintage bow has half of its hairs pulled out. It is a Antonius Straduarius Cremonae 1716 copy very well made. It comes with a receipt of some sort that indicates that had been reconditioned probably in the 1950's or 60's. However even though most of it is in good condition with everything there it does show its age and there is as shown slight seperation of the backboard and the body easily reglued. It also not shown will come with its original wooden carrying case in very good condition the felt inside and compartments are like new.

The body measures approx. 14 inches from the bottom of the neck heel to the body bottom. The lower bout is approx. 8 inch across. And the top bout is approx. 6 3/8 inch a cross. The total instrument measures approx. 23 1/2 in ch from tip of scroll head-stoc k to body bottom. Figured Maple back and sides and rear of neck. I noted no cracks or repairs on the neck. Fresh from an old estate. This violin was hand made in the late 1700's. About 1810. It was discovered that by slightly lengthening the neck of a violin, that the tone would become louder and more balanced. To accomplish this. The neck was grafted in a way to save the original scroll, as it is by the hand of the ... moremaker. Only the better violins were worth this additional effort. So when you see a grafted neck, you know the violin was deemed worth the effort. ITEM MEASUREMENTS Violin measures about 24" long total length. The body measures 14 1/8" long. The upper bouts measure 6 1/4" wide and the lower bouts measure 7 3/4" wide. The bow by H. W Prell measures 29 3/4" long. And weighs 53.4 grams. The bow by Gotz measures 29 1/8" long and weighs 54.7 grams. THIS ITEMS CONDITION REPORT This is in good condition. With old repairs. There are no sound post or bass bar cracks. ITEM WEIGHT This weighs about 6 1/2 lbs. Before packing. SHIPPING INFORMATION I will be sending your item from San Diego. California 92116 USA. I normally send most items. Which can be packed in a box measuring up to 12 x 12 x 9, by USPS Priority Mail with full value insurance, and delivery confirmation. Larger items are usually sent by ground service. So we believe it to be a full sized 4/4 violin. Nice shape- no cracks or separated seams. There is one chip on the back side corner(see photos) Nice Authentic GSB wooden coffin case. Wood is in good condition and the interior has wear. The case is worth $50+/ alone. Bow- has nice red look to it. With pearl looking inlays.
