Antique Violin Joh. Bap. Schweitzer VINTAGE made in Germany Fiddle
Very nice. Vintage violin made in Germany. Tag on the inside reads: Joh. Bapt. Schweitzer fecit at forman hierenym amati pestini 1813 made in Germany. Solid spruce top, maple one piece back, maple sides. There are two pins on back by the tail and one pin on the back by the neck joint. There are some minor scratches/wear marks which are normal for an instrument this age. No cracks in wood but one slight separation by the tailpiece anchor(see picture 12) Very open and woody sound-plays very smooth all the way up the neck. One slight ding on top left wing(see picture 8) Great sounding/playing violin. Ready for performance. Will ship fully insured to its new home in a featherweight case. Email questions. 4/4 Professional Song Violin Handmade Single Back Dark Brown Vintage Antique
For sale is a professional size 4/4 violin made by Song. It is completely handmade and a single-back piece(most beginner violins and lower quality violins are made with two pieces glued together and the seam is visible; this violin is made entirely from one piece and so there is no seam) This is a very unusual and rare color. Which is somewhat difficult to capture in pictures with the flash. In some light it looks so dark as to be nearly black, but when light is shined on it you can see it's a rich, dark brown color. It has a certain degree of lenticularity, meaning the lines of the wood look like they shift when the light shifts, similar to how Tiger's Eye looks under moving light(in fact, it looks very much like a dark Tiger's Eye) Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what material this is made of, although I do know it's ... morenot common, so my loss is your gain. It plays very well. The violin also comes with a locking case(which has a humidity gauge) Two horsehair bows(one of which needs restrung) the strap, and chin rest. A FANTASTIC antique or vintage violin measuring 23 1/2" long by approximately 8" wide. The wood has BEAUTIFUL tiger striping. In wonderful condition with no structural flaws found. From a recent estate and is in a shipping box having come from a violin restorer, apparently having been"overhauled" It comes with a metal vilion case measuring 31" long. Beautiful flamed Maple 2 piece back. As well as flamed ribs, neck and scroll. To find a violin of this quality is difficult. Most violins found do not have the quality of maple found in this piece. Throughout its restoration. Great care was taken to make sure all internal blocking was sound. Amazingly there are very few surface dings or scuffs for its age. Again. It's sort of a cherry color. The 4 strings are still intact and not broken. The violin does have some small scratches/knicks but they aren't bad and it's still in good condition. Inside the violin, you can see the label that says, W. Wilkanowski Violin Maker 1942#200. It comes inside a black case that has a purple lining. The case itself is in rough shape, with the leather coming off the handle, the metal parts are rusted and the edges are worn. See pictures. This is very nice. Double purfled, 4/4 violin. It has has a well flamed two piece back and beautiful, hand applied varnish. I don't know if it's been re-done or not, looks to have been played a good deal. Well built, it is fully blocked and lined. The fingerboard has been shimmed. There appears to be an old saddle crack repair that didn't show in the pictures. I see no other issues, but as with any violin of this age, there may be repairs that I am unaware of. Please see pictures. All in all, in remarkable shape. It measures 23 1/4" long, with a 14" back and 8" lower bout. The sale includes an old"junker" case and two bows that need rehairing. Old Vintage Karl Herrmann Andreas Morelli 4/4 violin circa 1920-30s Antique Rare
This violin was recently purchased from an estate sale and is in very nice condition for its age. I want to first state that I am not an expert on violins. So please study the pictures and ask any questions before bidding. I will do my absolute best to describe the violin as accurately as I can. From the research I have found. This violin came from the workshop of Karl Herrmann of Markneukirchen, Germany. Under the name Andreas Morelli, he made violins in the early 1900's. From what I read 1920's-1930's. It was said the violins he produced were of very good quality. Today they are sought after by many and are quite valuable. I took pictures of the label. Best I could. States Andreas Morelli, hand made Reproduction.A signature that I cannot make out.1750. As for the body. It has its share of nicks and dings, but does not look to ... morebe repaired anywhere that I can see. As you can see it has one very small crack on the left f-hole. I tried to picture it the best I could as well. that is the only crack that I can find anywhere on this violin. The varnish is original and a beautiful shade of red/orange. I wanted to show pictures of it and the beautiful two piece back indoors and out. It just changes colors. It is just a beautiful violin. I purchased new string for it the old ones were in horrible shape. The bridge is an Aubert.I assumed it was original to the violin. It also has another tailpiece not pictured that comes with it. I will be listing the bows that came with the violin in other auctions. The case is included. Because I am not an expert. Please, understand that I am not selling this item as Concert Ready! Darker wood on front could be cherry on back looks like burlwood. The double pin striping is wonderful lighter on front and darker on back(usuing oposite woods) I bought the violin years ago and had it referbished. Two cracks on front were repaired(left side) I had it fitted with thomastik dominant strings and the red wood pegs chin and tail pieces. I believe this is around early 1900's Germany. A RARE GUSETO German made Violin, with New strings added. As you may know the old violins have that rich warm mellow tone that only comes from years of aging wood. And this is a rare violin as well. HAS CASE& BOW PROBLEMS& CONDITION This is well used Violin and is experienced. The binding around the top side& bottom side has some binding broken off sections. I count 4 areas on the top edge. The largest about 1 inch, Two sections on the bottom the largest about 2 inches. I don't see any cracking of the body in those area's, just the edge binding chipped away. I don't see any cracking in the main body. There is a crack on the head stock tuning key area. It looks like there may of been a professional repair made in this area. NOT SURE. Antique Vintage Joh Bapt Schweitzer 1813 Violin with Case
This is a beautiful Joh Bapt Schweitzer 1813 violin with case and bow. It was made in Germany and is in excellent condition for its age. There appear to no cracks on the top or bottom of the instrument and the f holes are perfect and right in line with the age of the instrument. There is a second label inside the violin which states"Repaired by H Albin Voigt Nazareth. PA" The label is very old and I reviewed the instrument and can't find any area of repair which would indicate that a luthier performed the repair many years ago. The violin is in excellent shape; and ready to play; after being refurbished from an experience luthier last summer; Gulp I paid ALOT to have that done! It is a violin I'm selling from my personal collection: Probably factory manufactured between 1900-1930. Label reads: Johann Christian Ficker Lauden und Geigenmacher in Neukirchen bey Adorf 1760 I do believe the label is post production and not original Here are the specifics: Measures 14.25 inches long Upper Bout: 6.4 inches Lower Bout: 8.0 inches 2 false corners I believe Tightly flamed maple back and a spruce top. Whats is super sweet about the violin. Is the beautiful double purfling inlaid knot type of designed into the back; my luthier said it was a skilled work and probably very time consuming. ... moreIt is a wonderful personal enhancement to the instrument no doubt! Wonderful(and expensive) Whitner fine tuning pegs; smooth as cream! no fine tuners to contend with in the tailpiece(except for the e) really helps bring out that seasoned tone! Old Vintage Antique? Violin 4/4 size no label w/ case, flamed back fiddle
This is an old. Full-size violin/fiddle with no label in a very old case. I love the deep red/brown finish on this one! Her tone is as deep and mellow as her finish. I don't know much about this and I can't even remember where I picked her up- an antique store in Virginia or Illinois, maybe. Anyway, she has personality and she's not built perfect enough to have been factory made. I also don't think she was made by a famous luthier. That being said, she's playable and complete with strings, bridge(it needs to be trimmed- the strings set a little high) unmatched pegs, soundpost(may need to be adjusted for better sound) etc. I think a new set of quality strings and a few tweaks to the bridge and soundpost and this one would really purr. We found it wrapped in a blanket in a closet where it has obviously been for years. We've never seen anything like it. And neither has anyone we've asked. This has obviously been used and cared for by it's previous owner and it shows some signs of use as shown. This is offered in it's"found condition" As shown. Needs restoration and repair. Sold As-Is. Body is solid. I see no cracks or splits. Aluminum appears to have been cast AND hand wrought as well. And is a heavy gauge metal. Needs cleaning and polishing. I really do not know anything about violins but this was from an old estate and it seemed like someone would want it. Clearly it has a broken bridge and some other issues. But no bad breaks or cracks on the body. One small crack in the wood on the edge/side as pictured at the end. Fantastic carved head. Old Antique Vintage Fullsize Violin with a Louis Lowendall Label Inside
This is an old fullsize violin with inlaid purfling. It has had some repairs done to it over the last 100 years or so including about 8 repaired cracks on the front(none above the soundpost) and one repaired crack along the left edge of the back which should be visible in the second photo. There looks to have been a button repair or neck reset at some point in time. But neck angle looks to be about right. I don't see any open seems, but I do see some glue that will need to be cleaned up from the last time the top was reattached. The label inside reads manufactured in Berlin special copy of Antonious Straduarius. To the right of the wording on the label is the trademark"L" inside of a wreath. To the left of the wording is an emblem with"L. L. below the emblem. I have a friend who plays on a Louis Lowendall and the label ... morein his violin looks just like this one except that Lowendall autographed the label and his is dated 1901 on the label. I have been told that this violin was made about 10 years after his, but I am not an expert in these matters. The violin is set up and playable at this time, but is being sold for restoration. It has new rosewood tuning pegs, chinrest, tail piece as well as new strings, bridge and soundpost. It has a nicely flamed two piece back and the spruce front is finely grained, but again it could use some finishing touches which is why it is being sold as a restoration project. The nicely figured 2 pc curly maple back measures 14 by 8 1/4 inches. The violin is lined and has 4 corner blocks. There are no bassbar cracks on the violin and the neck is solid. The violin has a soundpost repair on the back that had been professionaly done. Repairs: 5 inch long closed center seam opening on the back plate. 3.5 inch long closed center seam opening on the top. 3 inch closed hair line going upwards from the top of the right"F"hole. short right"F" hole hair line- from lower eye to the purfling. tiny piece missing on the lower left"F" hole/ lower eye. Small bulge to the lower rib in the area of the chin rest- there is no opening. Everything is tight and stable. THERE ARE NO ISSUES IN THE AREAS OF THE SOUND POST OR THE BASS ... moreBAR! Hi. Up for auction is a Fine Vintage Antique Signed Violin Bow Marked/Stamped DODD. I know nothing on Bows/Instruments. I have not cleaned the bow and looks to be in good condition I believe the Frog is ebony and is inlaid with mother of pearl. I am not sure what wood the bow is made out of I believe any metal on here is silver but i would hate to scratch into it to test it. It is around 67 CM long or 26 inches. The Bow with what string on it is around 49.4 Grams. Looks like this will need cleaned and Restrung. Vintage Antique Violin HOPF CF CP 1920's Viola
Up for sale is an antique violin. This was found in an attic. It reads"HOPF" on the back with a crown above it. The inside has an inscription which appears to read"HOPF CF" But I am not 100% sure. The approx. date would be the 1920's. It measures approx. 23 1/2" long. This belonged to a wealthy family of the time. I do not play the violin and cannot speak to condition beyond what I see. Please use the pics to access condition. As it sits, it is not playable. Some of the pieces are loose or have come off completely. You get what you see in the pics. For sale is a beautifully restored 49 year old E.R. Pfretzschner Violin. This violin was originally handcrafted in West Germany. With a hand carved scroll. Internal blocking and properly offset soundpost, this violin was imported and originally set up by the Roth Shop of Cleveland Ohio. If you have ever played a Scherl and Roth violin, the first you notice is the quality of thier patented Rosewood tuning pegs. Simply the best tuning pegs I have ever played. With the brass screws that adjust the tension placed on strings, tuning and staying in tune is easy. This violin has been recently restored and refinished by Appalachian Luthiers. When I started ... morethis project I inspected all the internal blocking and seams. The seams are perfect and there are NO repaired cracks, splits, or seperations. The finish of the violin was buffed in 3 seperate stages and a hand buffed finish was applied. The original Shellac remains on this violin as do the scratches and minor dings that give this violin a time earned beautiful finish. The fittings were replaced with ebony tailpiece and chinrest as well as a custom bridge. Nickel wound steel strings with brass rings complete the sound of this fine piece. This violin’s densely matched flamed Maple backplate is complemented by a tightly grained Spruce soundwood top. The result is a clear pronounced sound that is very responsive throughout its range. Mellow and defined on the“G” and“D” and bold and strong across the“A” while the“E” is extremely bright and accurate. It takes years for the soundwood in these classic violins to age and give you the mellow tones that a violinist is looking for. I believe this violin is there. Vintage "Vuillaume A Paris" ? Stamped Violin bow. 29 Inches. Antique.
Vintage or antique violin bow and extra part. Bow appears to be stamped"Vuillaume A Paris. It is a worn stamp but"Paris" is clearly stamped at the end. See my photos and determine for yourself. Bow measures about 29 inches long. There is a groove in the wood in which the frog fits. The small octagonal metal piece on the end of the adjustment know is missing. There is a tiny chip at the tip of the bow. The bone insert on the bottom of the frog does not fit all the way to the metal piece on the end- there is a small piece of wood in the gap- and the metal piece on the end has a small round hole in it. There is also a small worn spot on the right side of the end of the bow. Bone piece on the bottom of the tip is missing some of the surface. Bow needs to be re-haired. Bow has a dark old finish. There is string wrapped between the ... moreback of the bow and the adjustment knob. Bow is made from a heavy tropical wood. Please inspect my photos for condition and other details. Antique/Vintage Compagnon Full Size 4/4 Violin Circa Early 20th Century
Wonderful antique/vintage Compagnon 4/4 violin from circa 1900 This great violin is now for sale as I no longer play due to the piano taking most my free time. From the research I have done it is an early 1900's model. It has the expected use wear and some marks but is in overall very good condition. It does come with a very old Reliance case which is very worn and tatty but it does the job and I didn't think this lovely instrument would look right in a modern case. The bow is in a playable condition but it may need a refurb at some point. The violin has recently had a professional set up including new strings. The paper label bares the signature Herman Lowen dall Berlin. 1926 and in print says Reproduction of Antonious Stradivarious Cremona 1718(meaning that it was crafted in the style of Stradivari) The Label also bares the known Herman Lowendall initials contained in an upright oval. Also branded inside the violin is"Herman Lowendall- Berlin" in an oval, Please see the photos of the labels and the brand marks inside of the violin. Considering the age of this violin it is in very good condition with no cracks. Split seams or signs of repairs. The solid carved spruce top has moderately tight and even grain. The solid carved maple back, ribs and neck has a fairly tight”flame” pattern. The varnish color is a red-brown with amber highlights. This is a lovely old 4/4 violin. The label inside reads: Fait dans l'Atelier de P. BLANCHARD Lyon 1898(last two numbers are in writting) This is a full sized violin. It measures: 586 x 360 x 164 x 111 x 204 mm. REPAIRS: long repaired crack going from apr. middle of the right"F" hole to the edge- 5 inch long repaired saddle hair line- under the tail piece. 1.5 inch long repaired hair line on the left lower bout. repaired lower left rib at the edge/ corner. I DO NOT SEE OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VIOLIN. And all the past repairs are holding. I looked to check things inside. And all is fine: All the linings are in place; all corner blocks are there; the bass bar is firmly attached and the sound post is in place. There are some minor dings. Scratches, and scuffin all over, and some varnish ware. THIS VIOLIN IS CLEARLY SHOWN IN DETAIL ... moreON THE PICTURES- NO SURPRISES. Violin is setup. And it is in playing condition. Up for auction is a old antique handmade American 2 pc quilted maple back full size violin for restoration. The nicely figured 2 pc quilted maple back measures 14 3/16 by 7 15/16 inches. The violin is lined and has 4 corner blocks. There are no bassbar or soundpost cracks on the violin. The scroll and pegbox are in good shape and the neck is solid. The soundpost is loose inside the violin. The violin is not labelled but would be American made. The violin will need repaired on the treble F hole and there is a open seam in the endpin area(please check pic) The violin also has a interesting modified bassbarr.
