It has lovely tiger maple back. Sides, neck, and scroll. It has ebony tuners, fingerboard, chin rest, and tail piece. It is in very good used condition for its age with some moderate age appropriate wear. Some hairlines to the fingerboard, and minor separation to the bottom as shown. I believe the sound post is missing. This looks to be a good quality made violin. It measures 23" overall and has a 14" body. Measuring 6 5/8" at the upper bout and 8" at the lower. Antique Cello Italian / German fecit Parmae
This antique cello. Having been found within a Tennessee estate, is being sold with varing information obtained from viewing by a few regional luthiers. It's definately of considerable age and restorations with opinions from early to later part of the 1800's to possible late 1700's. The restorations appear to show period to modern with the bridge indicating work by William Moennig& Son of Philadephia. It's currently in playable condition having suprising volume with sweet vintage woody tones for it's smaller and unusual size. The two piece back measures 23" in length with lower bout measuring 14" across and upper at 11" The string length from bridge to nut is 22" which places it in the neighborhood of a half size or slightly less best can tell being a little bigger than a normal size guitar. Overall, ... morethe restortation repairs have it pretty much in good stable condition with some very nice French polishing. There are a couple other external places that I thought might need attention such as a small pea size piece of trim on bottom edge that can be replaced if desired and two, what I call flat surface splinters that are starting to lift that might, at some point, need a spot of glue but was told these are of no concern and to leave alone. Also, at the middle of the back two piece seam near where the soundpost is located, you can see that about a 3 1/2" section of the seam here is loose and if you push with your thumb, will move. This has developed over time probably due to the soundpost pressure and the fact that there were never any reinforcing along the seam in this area where the soundpost is placed as there is above and below it. Inside, there is whats left of an original label which is so old it looks like its grown into the wood that reads Joannes Baptista Guadagnini fecit Parmae- csr 17 G B G. What a few believe that I talked with is that this cello was made in the style of Guadagnini to meet the market demand of its time. Some features point to being German m

Abraham Prescott Cello OLD RARE Antique American string orchestral instrument
RARE 19TH Century Abraham Prescott Cello. Has full label inside which has the New Hampshire address. Indicating that this is one of Prescott's later cellos after he had perfected his instrument building technique. i could not get a good photo of the label since the lighting is too dark inside the instrument, but you can see it somewhat in the attached photo. Prescott died in 1855 making this instrument well over 150 years old. Great condition for its age with some signs of use. It certainly has had some restoration in its long history, but is currently set up and playable. at some point someone put a very unorthodox end pin on the instrument. The photos may make it look like it has a partial seam split in back, but that is just lighting and shadow. a small part of the seam may be ever so slightly misaligned, but it is still solid, together ... moreand playable. There is a slight crack on the front under the bridge. just barely starting. not bad and an easy fix. Local pick up is preferred, but I will ship it to any US location in the lower 48 states for $125.00, there is NO international shipping on this auction. I am also including a lightweight case for this cello. The case is thrown in for free to help protect it in shipping. The case was not original to this cello and is somewhat worn with some zippers that are difficult at times. Once again the case is just a free bonus to help protect the cello during shipping. Antique German Cello Bow 4/4, Silver Lined Frog and Winding, Stamped, Ready
An antique or old cello bow is being offered in this auction. It is full size. Measuring 28 inches long, and weighs 83 grams. It is ready for immediate play, showing very little use on a fresh rehair. The balance is perfect at 1/3. The ebony frog is fully lined with silver, and has mother of pearl dots and slide. The winding or lapping is silver, and it has a new leather grip. The button is silver and ebony. The bow has been thoroughly cleaned, and the varnish refreshed to it's original sheen. It is perfectly strait, and has good camber. The lined bone tip is in good shape with no cracks or chips. There are no cracks to the stick and frog. It is faintly stamped Corelli as far as I can tell above the frog, and Germany under. This is a quality piece that will surely be appreciated by the new owner. This Very Fine 4/4 Full Size French Cello is in excellent condition for its age. It appears to have had no sound post cracks and only a few repaired cracks on the top. It seems to be all originial(except for the bridge. Endpin, tailpiece, tuning pegs and strings) The cello is well set up and adjusted and is in excellent playing condition. The soud is powerfull and projects and carries extremely well. The bass strings are rich and sonorus and the upper strings have bright ringing top notes. It is easy to play and speaks very quickly. It measures: total length = 48 inches, back length = 29.75 inches, upper bout = 13 inches, lower bout = 16.75 inches, ribs = 4.75 inches and the string length from nut to bridge = 27.5 inches. Very Fine Old 3/4 Antique European Cello Circa 1870 In Excellent Playing Cond.
This very fine antique 3/4 size European cello is a remarkably well preserved instrument in superb playing condition which is quite rare to find in this size for it must surely have been made for a very fine young player. It has powerfully centered bass sonority and sweetly pentrating top notes. It is very easy to play and is the ideal instument for any young prodigy who deserves to play on a fine old instrument with the characteristics of a much larger full size cello. Though it is unlabeled. It is clearly the work of a fine maker and has all the characteristics and finess of other fine handcrafted cellos of the mid to late 19th century. The wood is beautifully flamed and matched. The varnish a rich deep honey golden color. The interesting dark markings in the wood of the neck and scroll were interior growth patterns of the wood which have ... moredarkened with age. I have been assured by my violin makerg(who was familiar with them on other fine instruments) that they are in no way detrimental to the structure and strength of the wood. They are in fact characteristics of 19th century woods from a number of European regions. ANTIQUE CELLO, 51" Tall, Beautiful Patina, Ready Play, Has Some Defects, Early
This is a very pretty antique Cello my wife purchased at an antique store 15 years ago. It was professionally set up and cleaned but sat in storage so long it got several scrapes and chips to it. The Cello is unlabeled and I do not actually know how old it is. The Cello is 51" tall total and the body is 29" tall. The cello has new strings. Bridge and tail piece. The patina is fabulous. See pics carefully as there are several problems. There is a split on lower bottom and lower front as well as side. 3/8" gouge on lower side and a 1.25" crack/ puncture on one side with scattered chips and scratches. That said it is still quite solid. Nice scroll and tightening pegs. You can pick up, if shipped it will cost about $62.00 with the large packaging necessary. The round pernambuco stick is made of beautifull wood of dense and high quality and has a light brown color. No repairs but has a knot located about 10 inches from the buttom. That is going through about half of the stick and moves( please see the pictures) Although it doesn't change the bow at all when it is tightened, in my opinion needs attention. The stick is straight and very strong. The ivory tip has lost its very end. But has no cracks and I think is original. The frog is made of ebony and German silver. Has NO cracks or repairs but you can see the intensive use and the buttom slide is unglued. All Mother Of Pearl parts are there and have great colors. It has no grip. Old Vintage Antique German Cello Bow
Antique Cello Bow A very nice round pernambuco stick cello bow. Stamped" MADE IN GERMANY" on the stick. The bow was made before WW2 and probably from the Nurnberger School. The frog is made of quality ebony and has a mother of pearl slide. The stick has a fine silver winding and lizard leather grip. The very tip of the ivory tip has been re-glued. There are no repairs or restorations to the stick or frog. The stick is straight with a very good camber. The bow is well balanced. This is an old bow and it is normal for it to show some use wear. The overall bow length is 70.8 cm(27 7/8 in) The entire bow weighs 80.0 grams. Balance point at 23.5 cm(from balance point to the end of the stick) Low starting price. Very nice interesting half size child c ello bow. Stamped: ALBER NURNBERGER. The bow has a round, straight stick with good camber, made with pretty chocolate pernambuco, ebony frog, beautiful tip. Fine leather grip. Sign of use in the varnish. Scratches but no cracks, ready to play. Weight– 66 g. Length- 582mm or 22 7/8" I sell it without reserve. Good luck.

Antique OLD CELLO ANTONIUS STRADIVARIUS 1785
This auction is for an old antique cello. This cello has a label on the inside that looks like it reads"Antonius Stradivarius. Cremonensis, faciebat anno 1785" made in Czechoslovakia. Not sure the maker of the cello, but is very high quality and is very old. i checked with the Smithsonian and confirmed it was not made by Antonius himself Comes with a worn bag that has some tears. The cello has all the tuning pegs and the entire cello is made of wood and has its original finish. Appears the fingerboard looks like it might be made of an ebony type wood. Overall condition is OK for its age. some cracks to the the body, couple small cracks/repairs on the sides, the neck looks like it is in very decent shape. has no bridge. there is edge wear, normal wear from playing and is sold as you see it in the photos. Measures approx. 51" ... morelong by 17 1/2" at the widest point. Rare antique cello and is a must for any collector. a friend had this stored away at a church. The glare spots are from the lights reflection and NOT on the actual surface of the item. CHARACTERISTICS: 5.5" x 3.25" 248 pages + addendum. All text in French. COVERS: Vellum over boards. And handwritten titles on spine. Excellent, tight condition overall. TEXT BLOCK: As the binding is so tight. And the covers have not been cracked open fully, I don't think this book was read much, if at all. There is what appears to be an inked seal stamp on the title page(see photo) Some scattered minor foxing, otherwise very clean throughout. ... moreNOT ex-library. COMMENTS: You will not find another copy of the first edition for sale on the Internet! A search of WorldCat found a copy in the holdings of the British Library only. I found no auction records going back decades. This copy is in investment quality condition. Hubert Le Blanc was a French viol player. Doctor of law and abbé. Strongly regretting that viol playing was falling out of fashion, he wrote the treatise Défense de la basse de viole contre les enterprises du violon et les prétentions du violoncelle, which was published in Amsterdam by Pierre Mortier in 1740. Those who have written about him are unanimous in considering him an eccentric: his German translator(Erhard, 1951) called him"a somewhat sarcastic old gentleman" his English translator(Jackson, 1973) said he had a"colorful and eccentric personality" his only biographer(Fétis, 1863) tells us that when he learned that his treatise was to be published in Amsterdam, he was so transported with joy that he set off immediately(presumably from Paris) attired as he was when he received the news, in bathrobe, slippers, and nightcap. Vintage Old Antique Kay 4/4 Cello
This is a genuine Kay cello. Model 55. Four digit serial number beginning with 9. Second owner, original owner lived in North Alabama. This was a friends project that I planned to restore, but I'm absolutely swamped with unfinished projects. It has several major issues that need repair. The neck is broken. But is a clean break, and will easily glue and clamp back. The neck joint was loose, and was attached with two wood screws as a repair some time in the past. I'd hide glue the joint when gluing the neck back together. There are numerous places around the edges that have dings. And delaminations. There is a crack in the top laminate above the sound post(sound post is still intact. And has a string tied to it for positioning) I felt inside, and there's no crack inside. It still has gut strings on it. The original pegs and tail ... morepiece are all good. Fingerboard is rosewood, maybe Brazillian? and good. Scroll is good, and the finish is good, save the dings. Nut and saddle are good. The tail pin is also original. Bridge is good, not shown though. It comes with an old bow, that has no hair. There is a brown cloth case, but it will need some seamstress I'd estimate about 8-10 professional hours required to fix everything. Make adjustments, string and tune up, not counting the bow re-hair and case repair. When restored, you'll have an iconic American made, well worn cello. Re-create the Weems String band, East Texas Serenaders, Mellie Durham, Otto Gray, and so many other famous bands before the upright bass came along ~1930. And I was told was the lady's grandfathers. I know Absolutely Nothing about such a piece so please bear with me! The piece I believe would be a Cello? It appears to have some very good and old age to it and to have fine qualities. There is a label inside the piece which says Manufactured and Sold by J.J.Dieudonne, and then in ... morepencil or ink the hand written date 1849. As you can see the piece is in rough shape and is being sold in as is condition. However if a desirable or rare piece it may be worth restoring, or at the very least could be used for parts. The main body of the piece measures 28-3/4 inches long by 17 inches wide, and the body including the detached neck measures approx in total 47 Inches long. Antique Kay B-5 jazz cello bass 50-60 made! The first one was made for Ray Brown
Very beautiful and rare find! Jazz Cello Baby Bass 1 Octave higher than 3/4 Bass. It is a 3/4 size. Only a few B-5 basses were manufactured. Possibly 50- 60 between 1961-1968. A full sized cello with bass tuners and is strung up as a bass. This bass instrument was sold as a jazz cello. People in the field have called this a"Baby Bass. The first Jazz Cello was manufactured for Ray Brown. It was used on his CD and named it a model K-200. Old ads feature Brown with one! The tuners were slightly different than the standard Klusons having plastic knobs for the tuners. The Baby Bass is made slightly larger than a Kay Cello and is fitted for bass strings. It can be tuned as a traditional cello. The fingerboard is much wider than a traditional cello. It has an awesome full sound! There is a site devoted to Kay basses. He provides a lot of information on all the various Kay models and their subsequent buyer Englehardt-Link from Elk Grove Village, Illinois. We just put good new strings on it. We had the neck reinforced because it had a crack on the neck and we didn't want it to snap.so now it is all good.Even thought it still has the crack mark still. The body show wear because of it's age but it was touched up to last longer! There were some very thin chips out of the side that are wood filled.pictures show everything. Thank you!

This beautifully grained old case is sturdily built& has solid brass hardware including the large brass handle& original key. Outside measures approx. 47 1/2" tall X 17" wide. widest) Inside measurements are: Cello body section measures approx. 16" wide, widest at base) X 12 1/4" wide, top) 27 1/2" long to the neck. Neck area measures approx. 17 1/4" long& square top measures approx. 7 3/8" long X 6 1/2" wide. Vintage antique violin case cello case bow display decoration
This is a set of 2 cases that are very old. There is a violin case with bow and a cello case with bow. I think the only thing these would be good for is decoration/antique display. Note on shipping* I put the items in a box and weigh them and measure them and plug the info in the shipping calculator in order to calculate the shipping costs. Vienna 1732 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This cello by Johann Christoph Leidolff is a truly rare instrument and an uncommon representative of early 18th-century music culture. It was crafted in 1732. As is confirmed by the original label inside the 74.8 cm long body. This is a typical example of the instruments Leidolf made for the imperial court chapel, the style which shaped the world of Viennese music in its day. The unique model reflects the artisanal principles of the older school of Viennese violin making, and it shows no evidence of Stradivari's influence. A standard hallmark of Leidolf's craft is the heavily darkened, nearly black varnish which, in keeping with the cello's advanced age, was touched up at several different ... morespots. Multiple nuanced repairs were done with the greatest of care, mostl y rib cracking. Including a grafted scroll and a patch which properly covers a soundpostcrack in the back.
