The Rarest! Antique Hohner Organola Harmonica c.1902
NO RESERVE AUCTION! NO RESERVE AUCTION! No doubt this is the rarest Hohner and possibly the rarest of all harmonicas. This Organola is in spectacular original condition and appears to be totally complete. Of course the rubber section attaching the tube to the chassis may be a replacement. No doubt after 110 years the original rubber had deteriorated. The cosmetic condition is excellent showing only minor discoloration and only a couple of very small dents. I would consider the overall condition at 90% +. Information from the patent- German patent# 131825. This patent was awarded in 1902 to Robert Field and Albert Edward Hanson both of Huddersfield. England and covers one of the most unique harmonicas ever made- the Hohner Organola. The front part of the Organola was a simple 10-hole diatonic harmonica. However. The chords provided were the tonic. Dominant, subdominant and supertonic seventh, with their respective bass notes, i.e. C, G7, F and D7 in the key of C major. The idea was that the player could play the solo harmonica whilst simultaneously blowing or drawing into the mouthpiece to sound the accompaniment. Vintage Hohner L'Organola Piano Accordion 41 Treble Keys 120 Bass Buttons MADE IN GERMANY This vintage Hohner L'Organola has it's wear but plays and sounds great with no problems. I haven't noticed any kind of leaks in the bellows. I believe this accordion to be made around 19 30. The plastic reed cover is just resting on the unit for the pictures. It needs to be glued back on over the reeds. The very back cover is missing some screws which is why you see the masking tape holding it. The two bigger straps are original. But broke in the middle where you see the string tied to it. The bass strap has been replaced with a piece of leather. There are two treble keys with the tips broken as you can see in the photos. The top right edge of the accordion has a crack in it as you can see. It's about 8 5 years old. So there is some'wear& ... moretear' on this accordion. So please keep that in mind. I've included many photos so that you can see any flaws. It does, however, play and sound great. Does not include a case. Please scroll down to see the photos. I'm selling in"AS IS" condition. Welcome to another auction for a fine quality vintage instrument from Accordions South West. Here is a rare and fine example of Hohner craftsmanship at it's best. This instrument has been totally renovated and tuned with fine precision to play as good as new. This is a 1930's instrument and was the very best Hohner model preceeding the Morino and Gola range in the 50's. Each premium reed is stamped with the Hohner name and the volume measures on the Richter scale! The mechanics oozes quality throughout. Please do not confuse this with the similar looking Hohner Verdi of the same era. This is intrinsically superior and also it has had a shed load of work done to bring it to professional standard. I chose to use this as my main instrument on a Piaffinitee tour a few years ago, and since then have refined the tuning still further. ... moreNow the default setting is two 8' reeds which are swing tuned. These are always sounding and there are two under keyboard switches to 1. bring in or out the third 8' reeds giving an authentic musette sound. 2. bring in or out the 16' reeds. This arrangement gives a richness to the single 8' or 8'+16' sound not usually found. You can hear a demo of the sounds on youtube also see four other recordings made recently. Earlier recordings were with previous tuning. There is a clip of this accordion in use with Piaffinitee 2010 The fitted case is the original and in decent condition. This instrument was cherished& well cared for and deserves another owner who will appreciate the quality of this accordion.
