I believe its a full size 4/4 but I'm not sure it measures 23 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide at widest point. This violin has been in a family for 5 generations and believed to be from the 1700's. The inside is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremona Germany faciebat Anno 1720 and has a A/S logo. It is made of a beautiful tiger stripe maple wood. It has a signed bridge but I cant make out exactly what it says it looks like Okeshen or Qkeshen possible that the k is an r. Absolutely beautiful sound the tuners seem to work fine some light age wear but overall in good condition for its age. In a GSB original coffin case with original paper it has some age wear shown in pics. It also comes with a nice bow in also good vintage condition. I am not an expert so please take a look at the pics and feel free to ask questions. This was Handmade during the E arly 1900's to 1940's and was made to look just like the 1700's String Harp and is in great shape for age. This has 20 Strings and I'm not sure what the strings are made of and feels like some type of fishing line to me.lol. Abraham Prescott Cello OLD RARE Antique American string orchestral instrument
RARE 19TH Century Abraham Prescott Cello. Has full label inside which has the New Hampshire address. Indicating that this is one of Prescott's later cellos after he had perfected his instrument building technique. i could not get a good photo of the label since the lighting is too dark inside the instrument, but you can see it somewhat in the attached photo. Prescott died in 1855 making this instrument well over 150 years old. Great condition for its age with some signs of use. It certainly has had some restoration in its long history, but is currently set up and playable. at some point someone put a very unorthodox end pin on the instrument. The photos may make it look like it has a partial seam split in back, but that is just lighting and shadow. a small part of the seam may be ever so slightly misaligned, but it is still solid, together ... moreand playable. There is a slight crack on the front under the bridge. just barely starting. not bad and an easy fix. Local pick up is preferred, but I will ship it to any US location in the lower 48 states for $125.00, there is NO international shipping on this auction. I am also including a lightweight case for this cello. The case is thrown in for free to help protect it in shipping. A FANTASTIC antique or vintage violin measuring 23 1/2" long by approximately 8" wide. The wood has BEAUTIFUL tiger striping. In wonderful condition with no structural flaws found. From a recent estate and is in a shipping box having come from a violin restorer, apparently having been"overhauled" It comes with a metal vilion case measuring 31" long. Adolf Kurze Violin - antique full-size string instrument
Antique Adolf Kurze violin This violin was made by a violin maker by the name of Adolph Kurze. From Cranston, R.I. in 1941. It was the 3rd violin that he made and it was presented to my grandfather(a concert violin player) as a gift in 1965. It's in very good condition. Kurze also gave my grandfather a written account of the violin. Copied below. I will include the original to the buyer. This form is my own pattern. Well-rounded in both top and bottom bouts and center C's. The arching of the top and back is extremely flat on account of the thickness of the wood used. The attached photographs indicate a top of spruce. Fine-grained at the center and immediately becoming wide-grained to the edge. The back is 2-piece dark maple and shows the curls slanting slightly upwards towards the edges: also a series of wide vertical flames slanting ... moreslightly outward from bottom to top. The ribs are of fine-grained light maple. The plate thicknesses vary from 9/64" under the bridge to 6-6-1/2/64" in the top and from l0-l0-1/2/64" to 6/64" in the back. The interior of this instrument has not been sealed. The original varnish was completely removed in 1963 and re-sealed with a solution of raw linseed oil. Lye and camphor, then further sealed by rubbing a slight amount of beeswax on and into the surface. The exterior varnish is Joseph Michelman's(1946) aluminum rosinate sub-varnish(Preparations 2 and 3) 3-coats. And 5 coats of Michelman's red resin(Preparation 41) prepared by heating the resin and sun-thickened raw linseed oil together, thereby causing the resin and oil to combine. This solution was heated to about 190 degrees F for 24 hours. In which time it reduced considerably in volume and reached the consistency of honey. No turpentine or other thinner was used. The varnish was applied by heating same and applying it with one finger. A week under a Sunray lamp was required for sufficient drying before a succeeding coat was applied. Antique Hand-made ARABIAN MUSICAL INSTRUMENT Percusion & String with Bow
I don't know much about this instrument other than the previous owner said it was an Arabian instrument they thought from Iraq. It appears to be handmade and it has a drum surface. Plus it came with a bow. There is a drum surface on both sides. The bow is cracked and would need glue repair. Also since there is a bow there should be a string or strings, but none are present. It is about 30" long and 10" wide at the widest point. The drum surface is about 9-1/2" tall by 7" wide. I have no idea what the name is or even how it is played. Lot# 131

USA(Also the number 3711 is written by hand in pencil on the label) Simson and Frey were importers and dealers of instruments based out of New York. They were single import company for the US and Canada for a lot manufacturers from Europe. Henrich Roth teamed with Max Scherl to buy the Simson& Frey in the early 1930s. They renamed it Scherl& Roth and in 1938. The company moved from New York to Cleveland, Ohio. This violin probably dates to the 1920s since it has the New York Label. It’s more than likely based on the type of Stradivarius that sits in the Met. They have 3 in the their collection dated from 1714. 1694 and 1693. Condition: The violin is in good playing condition. ... moreThere is a“sound post" crack in the back that has been repaired(glued closed. With no sign of glue on the back. see the photo of lower back bout. The remnants of the crack can be seen just left of the center in the upper portion of that photo. Its a zig zag shape. There is also a small(approx 0.12 inch) ding on the upper right side of the back(see photo) No other cracks or open seams. The all original varnish shows some minor scratches. Wear and marks due to age. This fantastic zither/ harp was built by Johann Hornsteiner at Passau in the late 19 Century. He is mostly known for his violin. Some of which have sold for thousands of dollars. Fresh from an old estate in upstate New York! Fantastic 6 string(child's? guitar. Great old patina. Nice shape. No makers' mark. Check out the patina and details in the photos. Measures 31" total length. Body is 11" across at widest point and 14.75" long. Four strings are present, two are missing. One is inside the body. Exact age unknown but the patina is old and"alligator-skinned" in a few places. The finish is worn in a few places. And the body has a few linear surficial cracks in the surface of the wood(see pics) The last picture shows a loose piece of wood with notches in it for the six strings that was loose inside the body; it is NOT attached to the guitar body. Up for sale today. I am offering an antique wooden Zither. This beautiful instrument has been through a lot in its lifetime. The wood is a bit warped, and it doesn't sit completely flat when on a flat surface. There is some cracks in the wood and it needs a couple of repairs. It also needs new strings. However, this is still a beautiful piece. There is a gorgeous gold and red border that goes around the whole instrument. Above the hole in the middle is an awesome Bald Eagle depiction sitting on top of a shield with the American flag on it. Offered for your consideration tonight is this Antique Ukelin string musical instrument complete with bow. I'm not sure if these came with bows or not. The bow is marked made in Germany. I believe the Ukelin is made of Fruitwood and the overall condition is good. There are no breaks or repairs. There is a little surface rust on the tuner keys and some on the 2 metal strips on each side. it measures 27 1/4" long and the bow measures 18" long. there is no reserve.

A lovely old Mandolin which is unusual in so much as it has 10 strings in a 3 3 2 2 configuration(I was told this by a Folk Art Mandolin Player who came in my shop! It has a flower decorated back and lovely little wooden tuning key handles. It is in need of restoration. There is beading missing on the front and back and one of the little mother of pearl dots is missing too. It would need new strings and a total clean up but I think it would be worth it to do it. Here is an old banjo. I do NOT play this instrument but I will try to describe it the best I can. It is made out of wood. It does NOT have a back on it. It has 4 tuners and 4 strings. The bridge is loose. The neck is loose. It has 16 lugs around the side. It has It has 17 skinny brass frets. It is missing one of the four inlaid position dots. It has a slight hairline crack on the round side by the neck.I think it might just be the laminate(see close-up photos) The little wooden cross bar that goes on the back is off.still there though) No name on it that I can find. Offered without reserve is an antique Zither Harp Autoharp Guitar type old String Instrument from an estate. The top ands sides are Rosewood with a nice looking binding inlay. The instrument will require some repairs. The top right is missing a 3/4" long piece of the binding, the lower corner on the back has a small chip and there are some cracks where the wood was joined and by one of the feet. It is also missing a piece from the wooden piece that the strings would fasten to and it has no strings on it. It measures approx. 1 1/4" thick, 12 1/2" across and it is 20" tall. Up for auction is an antique zither from Germany. Dating to the late 1800's. I cannot read the inside of the zither but the outside emblem reads, REGINA, Guitarzither mit unterlegbaren Noten. Condition is good, all the strings are intact and most of the decal/artwork is in good condition. There is a crack down the backside as well as a sawtooth hanger being added later to display this old musical item. There is wear due to playing on the base metal strip too. The zither measures 21-1/2 inches high, 16-1/2 inches across and 2-1/4 inches thick.

This Zither is made of two different types of wood with pretty mother of pearl inlay of stars.Diamonds and dots on one side and a larger diamond and dots on the other side. At the top of the bottom side their is an engraved silver piece with 5 tightening rounds made of Bone. Their is wood inlay around the center circle or hole. All strings are attached and working, sounds heavenly when you strum it. Size: 13 1/2" x 25" x 1 1/2" deep Their has been a small repair to the top near the base of the handle. The case is Original to this Zither. It is made of wood and it is very dark or black with metal corners, lock and handle holders. The handle is made of wood, their is no key, but the lock is a slide lock and opens and closes securely. The inside of the case is padded ... moreand lined with blue velvet and has a material United States Flag on the top when you open the case, this flag has only 48 stars. Three compartments inside the case hold Zither replacement wires or strings(A,G,F) and empty papers from many other strings, a pic for strumming, a Swanson Tonette, bakelite or black plastic, a Brass sheet music stand, 1 all metal tuner key and 1 wood handle and metal tuner key( they both need a little polish with steel wool) and a dowel of wire. The strings are made by National Music String Co and the Swanson Tonette has a patent D112623 7 1/4" long, used of course. I have looked everywhere on this Zither and on the box and their is no maker mark or any identification. Size of Case: 26 1/2" x 15 1/2 x 3 3/4" Condition: The back of the Zither has a crack about an 11" crack from the bottom up. And as I said above a repair has been made just below the handle. Antique Bandurria 12 string musical instrument, very small, over 100 years old
A very unusual stringed musical instrument with 12 strings in 6 courses. Has its own tunings but if you already play a 12 string guitar you may want to use that tuning a 14 string version is still popular in Puerto Rico. Bandurria tunings are available on the internet. I am sure you will be pleased with the condition of this very small guitar like instrument. Not mint but good for an instrument made over 100 years ago. There are string sets available specifically for this instrument and a new set has just been installed. It comes with a new contemporary soft case.
