I am selling a large vintage PERKO ship light. As pictured. It stands about 22 inches tall with the handle, about 9.5 inches wide. The globe is very thick glass and it has a few small chips as you often see with the ones that were used, but that does not detract as you can see in the pictures. Overall it is in great condition. This light measures just over 9 inches tall and is about 7 inches wide. The base has four mount legs. All new USA wiring and bulb socket that is marked UL has been installed. Wiring and bulb holder is rated to work with any voltage under 250 volts. The bulb socket takes a normal house bulb of 100 watts or less. To access the bulb, you spin off the top cover. The top cover is cracked and missing some of the thread ring(see photos) This light remains water tight even with the issues with the lid. The 360 degree Fresnel lens is in very good condition. This is a vintage Ship Lantern that say's on the knob inside the glass The National Marine Lamp Co. I showed a picture but it is difficult to read as the writing is very small. This piece was purchased at an estate sale from an avid collector and they told me it has been hanging in their kitchen for over 40 years and they had purchased it from an antique store. Lantern Measures 13 inches tall by 7 inches wide(approx) I believe it is Brass but it has been painted with nautical paint. Hi folks. I'm back after an absence to auction more incredible, authentic items from parents' collections. These are items they've kept in storage- they were collectors of anything and everything old, unusual or beautiful starting their collections back in the 1950s. The past year has had me busy researching, inventorying and cataloging their items. Now I have the dubious task of selling some. For starters, I am not an expert in anything. I have some knowledge of some things, but sometimes I'm not exactly sure of what I have so feel free to contact me to either correct me or educate me. I believe in the"auction" process, so the starting bids on all my items are fairly low to encourage bidding. Here we have an absolutely magnificent antique ship's lantern. Or to be more specific, a Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware ... moreCo. distress or signal lantern circa about 1915-1925. It is made of galvanized steel and brass- all galvanized steel except for a brass top and brass burner which were polished quite some time ago. The lantern shows old solder repairs. Has a little bit of surface rust here and there, but is otherwise really clean. The fitted burner seems to be very good condition. Is a Plume and Atwood and on the thumb wheel it reads"P&A Mfg Co, Waterbury. Conn. Made in U.S.A. Plume& Atwood made the burners for Perko and many other makers. This lantern has NOT been electrified. The clear globe is marked PERKINS 8 and while it has a little dust. It shows NO damage and is protected by 8 wire guards that are firmly in place(some have some surface rust) The base has two tie-down clips. Although he never used it. This had been hanging in my father's workshop many years ago and I just presumed it had been sold or lost until June when I discovered it had been packed away. This is a great Perkins"PERKO" Marine lantern or bow light. The lantern is about 18" tall counting the handle. The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. I believe the paint is original to the lantern. The lantern is heavy. Over 7 pounds. Lanterns like this were used on large ships as a warning light or bow light. It has a 4 position on/off switch which allows for either the top, bottom or both lights to be lit. They are in working condition. The shade features a very nice lighthouse and harbor scene. This large all-weather lantern was likely made for maritime use in the late 19th or early 20th century and held a single large candle protected behind five removable panes of glass that each measure 3 1/2" x 8" It is an unusually large and durable design that is typical of use in industry. The lantern stands 13 1/2" in height(17 1/2" with the wooden handle raised) and 7 7/16" in diameter at the base. It weighs 4 lbs, 12 oz. The metal is copper in color but is magnetic and so most likely tin. The hinged lid with a lockable clasp opens and closes smoothly, and reveals the interior black paint to be in very good condition. The mount that holds the candle has a slit in the side that allows the excess wax to flow out, ... moreand the candle to be burned all the way down. Vintage Industrial Age Light Spot Lamp Antique Marine Fixture Ship Military
This auction is for one vintage ship spot light. We bought this fixture from a local estate. It belonged to a man that served in the Navy as a dentist. This was part of a large lot of vintage dental equipment that we purchased. We were told that it was from one of the many military ships that he practiced on. The fixture does work. There is a separate bulb socket mounted on the plate that supports the round light diffuser that is not wired. But the bulb in the center of the diffuser works(see pictures) Cosmetically, there are scratches and plenty of wear. It was painted black at some point and that paint is flaking and there is surface rust present(see pictures) It has been in storage for quite a while and it needs to be cleaned. PAIR VINTAGE SHIP DECK SEARCHLIGHT MARINE LAMPS BAUSCH & LOMB LENSES
Vintage pair large ships searchlights. Originally mounted on ships deck. Mounted on a yolk and attached to a stand on deck. Much like binoculars you see at scenic overlooks. Theses are large lamps, with a 12" diameter housing and 9" lenses. Depth is 7" The lenses are made by Bausch& Lomb Opt. Co. of Rochester NY. They are in very good condition, the lenses have 9 vertical concave surfaces. Lenses are clear, there are 1-2 bulbs internally, I have not taken apart the searchlight. Housings are stamped metal with a nickel or chrome plated surface. Much of the surface is worn with plating loss, corrosion and the like. One housing has a few dents at the bottom of the lamp, and one small piece of the lens retainer missing, it is inside rattling around. Round electric cable receptacle on bottom, probably 24V. Being offered is a Brass Ship Light- may be a Searchlight. Tag on the back of lamp says Lebby- The National Marine Lamp Co. This is an Old brass lamp- age unknown- has some dings and pitting on the body and the concave mirror in the back of lamp is cracked and about 25% of the mirror silver backing is flaked off. Mirror is labeled Corning Glass Works. See pictures. Weighs over 10 lbs- 9 1/2" diameter and about 10 1/2" long. Has 4 brass mounting bolts- 2 on each side that are included. Has cord attached(cord is frayed where it is attached to the lamp) for 110 volts and light bulb works- I'm guessing this is a retrofit and not the original lamping but not sure. this lot contains a Vintage Brass PERKO Marine Nautical ship RED pole Lantern Early 1900s. it has been modified to electric a long time ago. It was wired for ship use as it has a ground wire as well? it has a very thick red glass with a few chips& cracks from use& age. nothing that compromises it's usage or condition. it weighs 11 pounds& is 10" x 6" the light itself has been tested& works. it has not been cleaned or polished by us, although it looks like someone took scouring pad or steel wool to some areas, none of which has caused any permanent or bad damage, but you can see these areas in pictures. the one crack we found is only on the inside of glass& can only be seen when held up to light& spun til found. Appears to have been designed to burn oil(see photos) History: In the early l960’s. I purchased this lantern from a marine salvage yard in San Francisco. I disassembled everything and had the metal parts dipped to remove decades of paint and crud. And then sprayed the metal parts with clear matte acrylic. The objective was to just clean it up; not to make it look new nor“restored” At that time we had a waterfront weekend place on Bethel Island. CA, in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta area. Rare Antique 1920's Perko Brass Ship's Fog Bell Marine Lamp Original Patina
Rare 1920's original 8" fog bell lamp marked on inside of bell. PERKO, Perkins M.S. Co. Bklyn, N.Y. 07-61" Since I couldn't find a similar Perko fog-bell-lamp form anywhere, I contacted the Perko Marine Lamp Corp in Miami Florida with photos of the lamp. They said that this was originally manufactured by Perkins in this lamp-form and that it is not a custom piece made outside the factory by an individual. In their library they found only a 1920 and a 1932 catalog. In the 1920 catalog, they found a lamp that had similar fittings. I believe the markings inside the bell date this lamp to sometime between 1922 when the"PERKO" trademark was created and 1932 when the company name was changed to Perko Marine Lamp and Hardware Corp. It has a well-aged patina. Height from bottom of base to top of eagle finial is 20" ... moreDiameter of bell is 8" Bell has a wonderful resonant. Distinctive fog bell sound. Lamp is in good working order. Not sure if the wiring has been changed at all- the electrical plug is the old-style with prongs of even width. Looks to be c.Late-19thC vintage to me. Lantern is 20" tall not including the top swing handle. Buying as you see it as found in estate. The globe has a large hole on one side with crack lines going out from hole. The remaining thick glass looks stable as is however. Globe still displays well on good side. There are other ridge chips on glass. A couple of dings spots on shoulder of lamp. Top lid has dent on top. Vertical cage rod is pushed in where the hole in glass is. Opposite rod pushed in somewhat as well with some broken connectors to cage. Layer(or layers) of old black paint on surface. Old patina to lantern. Nice pair of old ship lanterns. They look to be brass. I did not clean them up prior to listing them so they are dusty and have cob webs. There are 5 glass panels. Glass is still in good shape. Hurricane style with some wick still left in both. They are rusty and have no markings on them. Compared to others online. These are in quite good shape. THis is an estate find. These are antique oil ship lights. There are makers tags that say Perkins Marine Lamp HDWE Co. Perko Trademark Brooklyn New York USA. All the glass is intact no damage. It appears to be brass and tin. THe lamp wick does work on one but the other I didn't really fool with to see. They are about 10 1/2" high and 5" wide. Nice set. However, I recommend rewiring them before use.
