RARE! Offered here at NO RESERVE is a genuine 1800's sailing ship's distress lantern. This old globe lantern is made of tinned metal and is in its original yellow ocre. Mustard paint typical of that time period. The lovely ruby red lens is hand-blown as evidenced by the bubbles in the glass. I have been told that real gold was used in the production of these early red lenses, and that many were salvaged for their gold content. As a result, scarce few survive. This early example is of German manufacture, the wick advance knob on the oil burner is marked"Kosmos Brenner. It is functional and the original old circular wick is still ... morepresent! The all brass font fits into the bottom of the lamp with a bayonet twist and has a brass loop for securing the lamp in a seaway. The top is also equipped with a large pivoting handle and a castellated chimney top for dispersing the heat. The top also hinges back for ease of inspecting the burner inside. This old veteran of the sea measures 14 1/2 inches tall and is 10 inches wide. It is in excellent original condition showing good signs of actual use but no abuse. If you buy this you will be lucky. This rare pre world War I Dietz Vesta US Navy standard Deck Lantern is made of brass and has the original clear glass globe(marked“Dietz Vesta New York USA” It has a top and bottom lips with very minor chips on the top lip. This lantern is all original and complete with a wick(cannot tell if original but is used) The frame is all brass with a very old fully used patina. This strange globe came attached loosely to an Dietz#6 New York Central bellbottom Lantern. I had no clue what it was; It sat in a box with other orphan lantern parts. I really thought it might be a cut down mayonnaise jar. I was reading an online article about marine brass or galvanized lanterns and noticed a duplicate to this. I now realize that this is a globe for a marine dark or deck lantern. It's probably made of Pyrex glass by Corning for lanterns that are subject to exposure to cold seawater when lighted. I suspect that there are serious collectors that can tell much more as to age and original applications. There don't seem to be any serious nicks or flaws and the overall condition is described as very good. Just out of a local house is this antique Maritime Ships lamp. It was made by Peter Gray around 1890 or perhaps earlier. The lantern is galvanized with old red paint. It has a Fresnel glass globe that is clear on the outside and cased with a layer or red glass on the inside. I have seen these listed in our lantern books listed as Great Lakes lights. Navy Lanterns, Stern, or Anchor lights. This light measures about 19 3/4 inches tall. 7 inches across the base, and about 7 1/2 inches at its widest. It is in good condition but has some oxidation, some damage where the bottom of the cage meets the base, and the lens has a chip. See photos. The font has an unusual burner marked Gray Boston. Antique whale oil lamp lantern light onion globe silver plated BIG nautical
This incredible light is from an old Wellesley MA estate. It stands about 20" tall to the top of the fixed ring on the top of the heat cage. The globe is around 10" in diameter. The metal surfaces are silver plated and in need of polishing. The base has some denting as shown. The font is original but the burner is missing. The light was electrified at some point but it would be easy enough to remove those parts. A very rare light. Thanks for looking.

Early 20th Cent. Nautical Ships Lantern Globe (Red) W/Metal Top
DESCRIPTION: Early 20th Century nautical ships lantern globe(red) with a metal top. It measures about 9 ¼ inches tall and has a base diameter of about 7 ½ inches and weighs about 8 pounds. The vented top appears to be tin and it has a greenish patina or paint on it that has some wear. Not sure if the top was the original but it looks old as well but does not have much soot on the underside. The bottom edge of the globe has many tiny surface chips from removing and replacing globe to service the oil lamp and from normal wear and tear. Red glass from this period was typically made with some real gold in order to obtain the color. The globe was most likely off a ship from the northern New England area but not sure if it was off a fresh water or ocean going vessel. This is a nice heavy red glass nautical collectible.

Nautical Ship Lantern (City Metal Company) with Red Pyrex Globe
Rare City Metal Nautical Ship Lantern. This lantern is known as a Dark Lantern. Because of the shield that could be raised to conceal the light. Made from 1910-1923, they were used during World War 1 by the U. S. Navy and Merchant Ships. The globe is red and marked Pyrex at the top. It is about 5 1/8" high, it is a straight cylinder shape with four"ribs" that run vertically. No cracks or chips that I can see. The burner is an original Simplex Burner, used in City Metal lanterns. It is marked E. Miller& Company on the wick adjustment knob. On the top of the dome lid is marked City Metal. City Metal has a unique design for the air holes, not seen in other Deck or Dark lanterns. The lantern measures 17" high to the top of the handle, and about 7" at the base.

Wick inside is intact as well as the wicks handle on the side. The bottoms wire like base is slightly bent. There is some rust throughout and a 1/2 inch long, 1/8 inch dent on the top. Antique Brass Lantern Oil Pot Fuel Font - Early Nautical Fixed Globe Lamp Part
Here are the dimensions. The hole this pot fits is 2 1/2 inches across. The pot spans 3 1/4" across its base flange. Or outer edge. 2 inch height between top of threads and bottom of Sangster clips. Stands 2 1/4" overall. All brass. This pot has a crease in its bottom rolled edge, and one clip has been re-soldered a long time ago. The clip repair does not harm how the pot sits and both of these issues are visible in the pictures. The threads are 7/8ths across and suffer no damage. Springs are strong and pot will hold oil. A very nice. Large Perkins(Perko) red globe lantern that is 15" tall by 10" wide. It has it's original red globe that is marked as Perkins 8. There is a wire protective cage around the globe and has an unmarked oil tank. It was made from 1926 to 1925. There is light surface rust on the base and a small crack as shown in the photo. Antique Sailing Ship's Cabin Oil Lantern on Gimble with Wick & Hurricane Globe
This is a small sailing ship cabin copper/brass oil lamp with glass hurricane globe mounted in a gimble for full motion on a rolling vessel. I have no idea of it's exact age but likely from the late 19th century. It's tarnished and I haven't attempted to clean it up. It measures approximately 7 1/2/ H by 3 1/2" W and would stand away from a ships bulkhead approximately 4 1/2" and weighs approximately 1 pound. It has the glass hurricane globe intact as well as a frabric wick so all you would need to do is fill it with keroscene(or whale oil? and light it up. Wonderful old lamp from the days of sail. The manufaturer is stamped on the wick tuning knob and says: The P&A Mfg. Co. Acorn" Great maritime antique and a great value! Happy bidding!

Antique SHIP’s Globe Hurricane Lantern- Phosphor Bronze Early 1900's
Genuine. Early 1900’s ship’s lamp known variously as a“hurricane globe lantern, watermelon lamp, or onion lamp. It features a heavy glass globe indicative of its early manufacture. This lantern is complete with its original oil font and burner which fits into the bottom of the lamp with a positive half twist. The top of the lamp is fitted with a heat disbursing castellated chimney cap and the lamp is equipped with a stout wire bail handle for hanging. This diminutive little veteran of the sea measures 11 ½ inches tall and 10 inches in wide. Inclusive of the handle it measures approximately 13 ¼ inches tall. It is in good condition given its age and apparent actual use at sea. There is a small sent in the chimney cap and a stress crack in the globe which cannoy be felt when rubbing you fingers across it. The exterior has acquired ... morea lovely statuary bronze patina consistent with age. This is the real deal.

I will be listing a variety of nice estate-fresh Antique and Vintage Items this week. Here is a Large Antique A. WARD HENDRICKSON. BROOKLYN, N.Y. MARINE LANTERN with"AS IS" ORIGINAL RED GLOBE. Looks to be c.Late-19thC vintage to me. Lantern is 20" tall not including the top swing handle. Buying as you see it as found in estate. The globe has a large hole on one side with crack lines going out from hole. The remaining thick glass looks stable as is however. Globe still displays well on good side. There are other ridge chips on glass. A couple of dings spots on shoulder of lamp. Top lid has dent on top. Vertical cage rod is pushed in where the hole in glass is. Opposite rod pushed in somewhat as well with some broken connectors to cage. Layer(or layers) of old black paint on surface. Old patina to lantern. There is a wire hanging ... morefrom top on the inside of lantern where previous owner had a light bulb hanging inside it. Hefty old lantern weighs approx. 15.8 lbs. unboxed.
