Antique Clear Pressed Glass/Brass Whale Oil Lamp Only With Snuffers and Wick
This is. I believe, a lamp intended to be used to burn whale oil. The wick is unburned, so I don't think it was ever put to use. The screw on cap, snuffers, and two wick holders are brass, with a knurled top edge on the cap to enhance one's grip when refilling the glass vessel. The cap and two wick holders are 2" high. The glass vessel is 3" high with a protruding 1" long ground glass stub. The device in is excellent condition with no chips or dings. There are some light scratches on the glass. There is an obvious lack of whaling here in Colorado. So where did this come from? Well, it's part of my parents estate. In the mid-1960's(as soon as I went off to college) they bought a very old, actually centuries old farm on Grove Street in Millville, Mass. The place was a fixer-upper that had been in the same family ... morefor at least a hundred years. Up for auction is a antique bow light. I am unsure what boat this was off of but it was definitely removed from a boat here on long island. It appears to have a brass body and blue/ red glass. It does come with a wooden mount. The only issue with this light is it is chipped in the blue portion of the glass. Other then that it appears to be in nice shape. Well designed for interior or exterior use. Each light weighs over 6 pounds. From the top of the wall mount to the the bottom of the globe cage. Each light measures about 10 inches tall. When mounted to the wall the light will extend out from the wall by about 6 1/2 inches. The wall mount measures ... more4 inches wide and has four mount holes. The brass cage spins on and off to give access to the undamaged glass globe. The glass globe also spins on and off to give access to the bulb holder. The globes are true red and green glass, not clear glass with paint. We have installed new bulb holders in each light. The bulb holder and new wiring was made by Westinghouse electric and is stamped"UL LISTED" The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 65 watts or less. The wiring and bulb holder will work with any voltage under 250 volts. Old antique Ships brass light cover w/ hook and beveled glass front, 1800s ?
Hello. Up for bid is what I believe to be an antique ships brass light cover. I was told it could be a very old cover for a ships nautical instrument. The patina on it is very old as is the old beveled glass front. Truthfully I ve never seen another one so have nothing to compare to. Its definately old and in good shape but what exactly it was used for, I am not sure. The inside paint is a light colored paint and is flaking off. The glass is very nice with normal age wear and scuffs. I cleaned the glass a little but did no other restoration on this item. It looks to good to mess with. The brass handle is tight and swings freely. The body of the lamp cover shows normal wear and dings, nothing bad. The large hook on the back looks good and is very solid. Looks like it hooks to the ship with the hook. There is no bottom and I dont know if it ... morehad one. The size is demonsrtated in picture two with my hand as a size measurement. I see no obvious signs of major damage or defects, other than some chips on the lens, mostly on the blue side. Antique MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIP LANTERN Red Glass Copper & Brass
Up for bids is a great marine piece- an antique ship lantern. This nautical lantern is made of brass and copper metals and a beautiful piece of red onion glass. It has a sloped top which keeps water and rain from the inside of it. The red onion glass is encompassed by protective brass pieces which prevent it from being damaged when it swings. This lantern also has both the top pivoting brass hanger. AND the bottom one. I see very few of these lanterns that were made with these, and if so they no longer have the bottom one. At some point someone has removed the kerosene drum/holder and started the process of making this electrical. I have not attempted to complete this. It is fitted with a very simple bulb holder and a turning switch which still turns and clicks. This has in no means detracted from the beauty of this lantern and will make ... moreit simpler to electrify if someone chooses to do so. This lantern is in fantastic vintage condition. It has wear associated and common with its age but overall really nice! If someone chooses to polish this it will shine like new. The glass is in very good condition. It has some wear marks. Rough spots, or minor chipping on the rims/edges but no breaks. The wear is only from where it is fitted into the copper ends. These marks are not seen or noticable when the lantern is put together. The glass itself has some air bubbles but only visible upon close examination. The sloped top has several small dents in it. The two copper caps look very good and I do not see any dents or tears in them. The brass hangers and glass protectors have only age patina to them but otherwise perfect. The measurements of this lantern is 25 1/2" when hanging from the top of the hanging attachment to the tip of the bottom attachment. The glass is approx. 6 1/2" high by 8 1/2" around. I've taken this apart to show the insides of the pieces and the area where the electrical work was started. Also. When I ship it will come separated like this. Antique Brass Electrified Hanging Ship Lantern Lamps Blue & Red Glass Lenses
This is a set of two hanging ship lantern lamps that once held a reservoir for oil or kerosene but have been electrified for a standard light bulb. Both are entirely made from bright shiny brass and have glass lenses of red and blue. On the top of both lanterns is stamped"Port Classes II& III" The one with the red lens is in excellent condition and the one with the blue lens is in good condition but looks like it has had some welding repair done along the top seam one side. Both have doors that open for easy bulb replacement. The both latch closed well. They are wired together with a 7' cord(can be hung up to 7' apart) and have a 10 1/2 foot cord with a plug coming from one lamp. The cords are not very old and are in very good condition but both have some sticky residue near the bottom of the lamps where they were taped ... moreto hold them in place. Each lamp measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 10" with handle down and 15" with handle up. These lamps will be packed well with care and insured.

In the early days of California Stockton was the hub. Many regarded Stockton as the in-land San Francisco. It was a rough place and full of vice. Many different forms of boats and ships, from sailing vessels to large paddlewheelers made their way to Stockton bringing people and goods. During WWII there were no less than two shipyards making destroyers, balloon barges and tugs for the U.S. Navy. Stockton was also home to the Stephen's Bros. Boat Builders from 1902 to 1987. This beautiful solid brass wall lantern was manufactured by“Norwell Mfg. Co. INC” and is listed as an electric fixture by the“Underwriters Laboratories, Inc” This information is included on a yellow sticker still attached to the back side of the lantern. I am not sure when this lantern was manufactured. It has a nautical theme…there is a ship’s steering wheel on the top front. With a brass nameplate inscribe with the name“Flying Eagle” I have 4 more of these lanterns, which I haven’t cleaned up yet, that are identical to this one, except for the name. Each lantern has a different name. I think that maybe these lanterns decorated a restaurant or perhaps a yacht or nautical vessel at one time. Very solid and sound, weighing about 2.5 pounds. It is wired for electricity, but I have not tested it. There is a brass candle holder attached to the inside of the lantern(it is screwed on, and can be removed) that has a burned out bulb that looks like a flicker candle bulb. The bulb is marked“ABCO” Japan” 120V” And is very heavy. The lantern stands about 12.5” tall to the top of the fixed handle. Three sides of the lantern have thick. Translucent seeded glass, which give a beautiful glow when a candle is burning inside. I kept one of these lanterns for myself to use as a candle patio light) Each side panel is about 4.25” wide, with attractive brass dividers that give the lantern a paned look. Vintage nautical Ship sconces lights Maritime Heavy Glass Brass Rare Beautiful
A very rare and beautiful pair of brass ship nautical Wall sconces. They could have been originally oil lights and converted to electric but I have no idea. They are made of heavy brass roughly 8lbs each with heavy steel bases. They are roughly 15 1/2" straightened up. The base or wall mount is 5 1/2" round as the same as the heavy glass bowl beneath the light. They are both are made to move which ever position you desire sideways. Up, down, etc. Just loosen the bolt and retighten. There is one bolt missing and there was another replaced. They are in exceptional condition with no breaks or repairs. As you can see in my picture the wall mount bases there is a slight discoloration which is very hard to see. The glass is very thick and it looks like one is a shade darker than the other and possibly one is greenish and the other is ... morereddish or darker green. They are both the same shape as also the lamps. They are identical. Don't know if because of the light over the years made one a bit darker than the other. Very hard to find these nautical sconces. This is a very thick brass nautical light made by Perko. The red glass is original& also very thick. It was rewired for household current& works. The wire is very short& bared at the end& has a cut in it. So it probably should be replaced. It stands 9 1/2" tall. It has two open threaded fittings(one on bottom& one on back) It also has a smaller hole that the new wiring was ran through. I'm not sure if it was on a ship or maybe even a bridge. It is heavy duty, I put it on a bathroom scale& it registered 10 pounds. The glass is still in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It weighs a little over 12 pounds. I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. It's also very LARGE. It measures about 13 1/2" tall, 13 3/4" wide and is approximately 9 1/2" deep from each corner to the back. It was a originally a kerosene or oil ship's lantern. It's an amazing light! It's in excellent working condition, it's been newly re-wired& has an antique switch in the front(converted to electric) The switch is turned to right each time you want to turn it off or no. It has a removable red port glass(see photos of it turned on, with and without the red glass) The clear glass has a small 1/2" chip in one of the ... moreribbed sections; it's a very heavy thick glass so this does not compromise anything. Near the top of the lamp there's an emblem that has the numbers"3883" There is also some etching on both the clear and red glass. I wonder if this belonged to a military ship. As most items on those ships were marked with serial#s etc. The writing on each glass piece says"DHJE 3883, No. 654, E.31.5.61" It's not very noticable and you can't see it unless you really look; it's not seen when the light is on. Condition wise.it's vintage! There are a few dings& dents. Some areas of wear etc.but considering it was a ship light, it's going to have a weathered old look, which I personally prefer. 2 Antique Maritime Heavy Brass Ship Lights Cobalt Blue Glass Globe Sliding Doors
Up for auction is a pair of 2 antique Maritime passageway heavy brass/bronze ship lights with cobalt blue glass globes with sliding doors and a handle for hanging. There are doors that slide on the lamp to open and close the cobalt blue glass globe. The base is all heavy brass/bronze and has a threaded top with moveable handle. On the top of the lamp it has a threaded fitting marked. 9-S-5010-L Type XXII Size B. The threaded top of the light has 9-S-2108-L. There is a gasket with washer and light socket inside, so changing the bulb is very easy. The cobalt blue globe is very heavy, please check pictures and measures 4 ½” diameter x 5” long with rounded bottom. On the rim of the cobalt blue globe it has Type H 2034 L P.G. Co. There are no chips or cracks on the globe. Underneath on the top ring it has 2099-L-3 and on the bottom section ... moreis 2099-L-4. The heavy base contains the sliding door to open and close. The bottom panel also opens and closes. With handle up the lamp stands 11 ¼” tall and the base is 5 ½” diameter. Both lamps have the same numbers and are identical. Vintage Starboard Ship Kerosene Lantern Light Lamp Port Blue Glass Brass 21" BIG
Vintage ship's starboard lantern in a unique tri-plex shape. One of the largest I've seen at 21" from base to finial. 11" x 11" square with the typical curved front. Thick blue glass(not an interchangeable light filter) with horizontal grooves. Brass trim and a brass finial with hanging ring. Great"keyhole" vent holes throughout. Suffers from an untidy paint job and is in need of some updating. Missing original kerosene lamp and has been converted with a light socket. Needs new electrical cord. Brass has a lovely patina and there is still some vintage kerosene soot on the inside of this lamp. There is a small spot on the bottom by a switch of some sort that corrosion has eaten through the metal. But it's repairable and not endemic to the rest of the lantern. Glass is free of cracks or chips.
