Vintage Nautical Light Lantern -- Huge Oakford Blue Lens Light
For yourconsideration is this huge Oakford Blue Lens Light. This lantern is from a large Nautical Lantern collection that I am currently working through. I am not sure what its intended use was. The blue glass has a sort of purple hue to it. There is the expected external wear, but the interior is nice and clean. Antique Brass Electrified Hanging Ship Lantern Lamps Blue & Red Glass Lenses
This is a set of two hanging ship lantern lamps that once held a reservoir for oil or kerosene but have been electrified for a standard light bulb. Both are entirely made from bright shiny brass and have glass lenses of red and blue. On the top of both lanterns is stamped"Port Classes II& III" The one with the red lens is in excellent condition and the one with the blue lens is in good condition but looks like it has had some welding repair done along the top seam one side. Both have doors that open for easy bulb replacement. The both latch closed well. They are wired together with a 7' cord(can be hung up to 7' apart) and have a 10 1/2 foot cord with a plug coming from one lamp. The cords are not very old and are in very good condition but both have some sticky residue near the bottom of the lamps where they were taped ... moreto hold them in place. Each lamp measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 10" with handle down and 15" with handle up. These lamps will be packed well with care and insured.

Rare WW2 Blue Navigational Lantern
Up for auction is a rare A. Ward Hendrickson navigational lantern. These lamps were used during World War 2 for ships to follow one another. Hung off the stern. The blue light was only seen from directly behind, allowing only the ship behind to see it. Very rare indeed, the lantern is big, standing almost two feet tall and in pristine condition. It has been stored in a container since the WW2 era, one of the remaining articles to the lost Arques Shipyard in Sausalito, CA. All proceeds benefit the Arques Wooden Boat School. Vintage ship's starboard lantern in a unique tri-plex shape. One of the largest I've seen at 21" from base to finial. 11" x 11" square with the typical curved front. Thick blue glass(not an interchangeable light filter) with horizontal grooves. Brass trim and a brass finial with hanging ring. Great"keyhole" vent holes throughout. Suffers from an untidy paint job and is in need of some updating. Missing original kerosene lamp and has been converted with a light socket. Needs new electrical cord. Brass has a lovely patina and there is still some vintage kerosene soot on the inside of this lamp. There is a small spot on the bottom by a switch of some sort that corrosion has eaten through the metal. But it's repairable and not endemic to the rest of the lantern. Glass is free of cracks or chips.

Here is an antique ship's lantern made by Universal Metal Spinning and Stamping Co. New York. The manufacturer is stamped into the side of the lantern. Also. Markings on the top say"Starboard Classes II& III" The triangular shaped lantern has a hinged door, vented top, and a handle for carrying. I believe this is a brass lantern, but I am not certain. The metal is non magnetic. The lens is thick and'ridged' and is blue in color. There is no burner in the lantern. The lantern and lens are dirty, but I do not see any cracks in the lens, or any dents/dings in the lantern. Lantern measures about 10" tall(not including the handle) and is about 7 1/4" wide from corner to corner. In searching the internet, I have seen a very similar lantern set(both port and starboard) by the same manufacturer, sell on liveauctioneers.com, ... morefor $350. We are offering for your consideration a large antique ships lantern manufactured by A WARD HENDRICKSOM& CO. of Brooklyn NY. The lens is a beautiful cobalt blue. The lantern is large. 16 inches tall 10.5 inches deep and is 13 inches wide including the holders for the rope handle. The lid is solid brass and screws on and off well. The body of the lantern is hand soldered throughout, galvanized tin. It has been painted a bronze color a long time ago; it may well be original to the lantern. It is quite heavy weighing a little over 16 pounds. It has been electrified at one time and it does light well. There is one very small chip in the lens about 1/4 inch square.

Vintage Brass Wilcox Crittenden Conn Ship Boat Light Lantern Lamp Blue & Green
I do not know how old this lantern is. I think that it is old enough to be considered vintage or possibly antique. The oval plate on the back of it reads. Wilcox, Crittenden& Co. Inc. Middletown, Conn. U.S.A. It appears to be brass. Most of the photos make the metal look redder than it actually is. The photos where the metal looks like it has a very slight greenish tint are closer to representing the actual color. I have provided a photo of the bottom being held up to a light to show how it might look when illuminated. Not including the ring at the top. It measures about 9 ½ inches high. The ring at the top adds about 1 3/4 inches. It weighs about 2 pounds 3.5 ounces. The divider is removable. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. The burner is missing. Otherwise. It is generally in excellent condition. There is a ... morerelatively even tarnish and a little green oxidation on the back that you can see in a photo. I have provided a close-up of a bend in the edge of the hole for the burner. I do not know if it should be there or not. A close-up shows a small shallow depression just below the seam on the chimney. I do not know if it was made that way or not. Otherwise, are no dents in the metal or breaks or cracks in the glass. The inside and a little of the outside of the glass could use some cleaning. It looks like there is some soot on the inside of the top part. Otherwise, it is fine and as shown. Just turn the switch and watch it glow. It puts off a Beautiful fully adjustable Blue Glowing Light using a Vintage style 40w Edison light bulb with a full range Leviton dimmer switch. This awesome Antique ship lantern works perfectly and is in excellent vintage condition. The lantern was manufactured in the 1920's and is constructed of metal with brass hardware and a brass manufacturers name plate. The brass name plate does have some solder on the edges from when it was attached to the lantern during manufacturing. It reads ALFRED F. GENTON SYEN WORKS WASHINGTON ST. BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND. My father purchased this ship lantern in 1964 at moss point Mississippi.It came from one of the ships in the National Defense Reserve(Ghost Fleet) that was anchored in Blakeley River. AL. It's in good shape with a few signs of age and wear. The glass does have a small ship in it. Its condition is further detailed in the photographs. This HELVICS SHIPS LANTERN has been electrified but honestly if I were going to keep it. I'd remove the light and use a contained candle but that's just me. Either way as you can see, it is very nice to look at. I believe that it is white metal with a brass and copper patina. The patina is great and this lantern displays beautifully. I think that blue is starboard but I could be wrong. You can see the small chips to the left side of the glass but you have to really look hard to see them and they in no way detract from the beauty of this 100 plus year old lantern.this is a very good quality lantern and it took a while to figure out that it might not be brass. I made a very small scratch at the very bottom of the front that you will never see and I looked at it with a jewelers loop and it looks like white metal. On the lantern there ... moreis what appears to be a thin layer very old tar or something black spots. I took a lot of it off with the back of a spoon. It kinda just pops off. I have no clue as to why this was put on but most is gone and the lamp looks great. It weigh over 4 pounds and it is very solid. The chrome is in very good condition and I would not re chrome at this point. Some very light pitting! The lenses are plastic in excellent condition! Not sure if this came off a Riva. Chris Craft, Higgins, Garwood etc! Thank you for looking!
