Solid Brass Neptune NR Oil Burning Ships Lantern
This Solid Brass Ships Lantern was purchased by us from LL Bean in the early 1980's and is of the highest quality construction. The solid brass has great weld joints and copper rivet construction. The entire inner glass chimney portion is easily removed by two brass handles for fueling and cleaning. The lantern has been used several times and has some black smoke on the glass chimney. Still has 6" to 7" of cotton wick left in fuel pot. Other wise it is in perfect condition and could be passed on for generations. This could be polished to a high shine but I have preferred the acquired patina. The lantern measures approx. 15" X 8" and weighs approx. 6 lbs. Antique Clear Pressed Glass/Brass Whale Oil Lamp Only With Snuffers and Wick
This is. I believe, a lamp intended to be used to burn whale oil. The wick is unburned, so I don't think it was ever put to use. The screw on cap, snuffers, and two wick holders are brass, with a knurled top edge on the cap to enhance one's grip when refilling the glass vessel. The cap and two wick holders are 2" high. The glass vessel is 3" high with a protruding 1" long ground glass stub. The device in is excellent condition with no chips or dings. There are some light scratches on the glass. There is an obvious lack of whaling here in Colorado. So where did this come from? Well, it's part of my parents estate. In the mid-1960's(as soon as I went off to college) they bought a very old, actually centuries old farm on Grove Street in Millville, Mass. Vintage Antique Ship Lanterns 1900's Brass Ships Gimbaled Oil Lanterns Rare
You are bidding on a pair of very rare. Brass gimbaled oil lanterns which were manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. These are beautiful and hard to find in this condition. However, when I was taking pictures, I unfortunately broke one of the green glass shades. I have tried to find another shade, but have been unable to do so. I have been able to find many antique restoration companies, one of which I have spoken to in great detail about the broken shade. He assures me that he can restore the shade to its former glory with very faint visibility. If the break is turned to the back of the lantern, it will be invisible to the eye. I will be glad to send the shade myself, or if the winning bidder would like to find their own restoration specialist, I will provide the pieces carefully wrapped. There are only three ... morebroken pieces and they fit together perfectly. These lamps were manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland and the brass nameplate is attached to the front of each lantern with that information. The lamp bodies are very heavy brass and are fully gimbaled. These are self-leveling lamps for use on the high seas. The wall brackets have a fleur-di-lis type decorative look. The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"John Scott Made In England" The last two pictures show small cracks at the top of each body. These appear to be caused by age. The lamps have not been polished because I personally find them more beautiful in their aged condition. The clear glass chimneys are both in perfect condition with no flaws of any kind. The one shade is also perfect with no flaws. The second shade was discussed above. The brass body measures approximately 17" from bottom to the top of the oil burner and is approximately 10" in width at its widest point. This Tung Woo lamp was originally a decorative feature on a Knob Creek electric table lamp that we bought at an estate sale. It was not altered for the wiring of the Knob Creek lamp. This lamp was made by the Harnisch Lamp Company in Demark and has a low number of 1453(lowest number I have ever seen on one of these) Never used. The lamps are clear lacquered and require no polishing. It has an etched glass globe that is frosted on the upper portion with a print pattern on the bottom There is a slot on the handle where the lamp can be hung on the wall and the base holds the lamp oil. Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. Rare 1800s Miller Brass Binnacle Ship Hand Oil Lamp w Eisinglass Front EXCELLENT
This auction is for a very rare Miller brass binnacle hand lamp. The bottom removes with an oil lamp base with a simplex wick holder. It is signed E Miller Company made in USA and has a brand new wick. The oil lamp locks into the base. It has vent holes at the bottom and the top. It has a wood carrying handle and an Eisinglass/ isinglass front that is still intact. The lamp measures 8 ¼ inches with the handle up and 7 inches with the handle down and measures 2 ¾ inches in diameter. A ships binnacle lamp has no steel anywhere in it. It is made of all brass so that it would not interfere with the ships compass. This is a very rare piece, don't miss this opportunity to add this to your collection. Has a handle on the top to hang. And on the bottom it fits into slots to hold a kerosene or oil with wick. Top opens. There are no nicks or chips in the glass but some loss to color on the red and green see photos. Extremely great piece and would be great in your home for lighting or patio or boat. Rare Ship's Cone-top Bird Cage Whale Oil Lantern. Tufts 1860 Brass Ships Lantern
Extremely Rare American Pat. dated March 13. 1860 Brass Ships Lantern! Same Patent date as Tufts Lanterns made in Boston and probably a Rare Tufts Lantern as shown. The date is on the bottom of the heavy glass Globe which is original to the Lamp. All Brass and in the early Bird Cage form. Complete with original Brass Whale Oil Burner, see photo#5. The Punched Tin Cone-top is fantastic, see photo#2. I see no damage or repairs and it measures 17 1/2" tall and 21" if you include the Ring Handle. 9" in diameter across the bottom. Quite heavy about 10 lbs. due mainly to the heavy glass Globe. A very rare piece of nautical History with 150 years of patina, never polished! Large Danish brass kerosene naval ship lantern. Labelled"Fregatten Jylland" No 6051. H. 63 cm(25" D. 30 cm(12" The lantern weighs 7 pounds. This lamp is a reproduction of a lantern found on the ship. With a funnel for oil. It has a shade of bubbled glass protected by brass rods. And has a clear inner chimney. The wick is adjustable. The shade can be raised and lowered to service the burner. There are five brass rods which can be linked to form a chain for hanging the lantern. Jylland" is the longest wooden ship in the world today. It has traditional sailing ship rigging as well as a steam engine. And is a perfect representative for the transition from sail to steam power. It took part in the battle of Helgoland in 1864 in the naval action against the Austrian-Prussian fleet. It measures 14" tall and 7" Diameter amd weighs about 5 lbs. Not sure if it is an original or reproduction. If it is a repro. It is a good one because it is highly detailed with cross bars and green glass(it has an outer pane of clear glass and an inner pane of green, it is not thick green glass) It also has a functioning oil lantern that can be taken out fron the bottom. Antique 1869 Scottish Clipper Ship Brass Nautical Lantern Kerosene/Oil Lamp-1255-Dumbarton Scotland I just purchased this nice antique piece at a local estate auction. It is is very good condition considering its age! It has a very nice patina to it and all of the glass is still intact. It also has all of the reflector plates on the inside lid. This is important because there are reproductions out there and they do not have the reflector plates. Reproductions also don't have the lead flaps at the tops of the glass panels to hold the glass in. The other thing to look for is the data plate. Reproductions are usually thin and cheesy looking. This lamp has the nice thick data plate. I did my research before buying this at the auction and am 100% confident that this is an original. In fact there is still some soot in the corners of the reflector ... moreplates to indicate that it was used. Measurements are 24" tall and 14" across. Richards Estate Sale Perko Boat Signal This is an amazing piece from maritime history. This piece was made by Perko(Perkins) and has really withstood the test of time. Unlike many of these lanterns this one still has the original Perko lamp inside as shown in pictures. The sliding hatch mechanism still works on this piece. It was used as a display piece in the house and they had a screw in the base of the signal to hold the sliding hatch open. This is the most complete piece of this kind that we have seen on eBay and a great addition to all maritime collectors.
