This would have been one of a set. One red, one green for the starboard and one deck mounted light for the clear light. Base is 5 1/2" x 10 1/8".

This auction is for a rare nautical oil lantern or lamp form the mid to late 1800's. These lanterns were used on smaller vessels such as lighthouse service launches. Fishing boats, etc. It has 3 bullseye lens. Red, green, and clear. The lantern is made of galvanized tin. The round top is brass. The lantern is complete with the original font burner. There is a handle and a mounting bracket on the back. The wire door latch mechanism works well. The lantern is 8 1/4 inches in height.The lantern is in all original as found, uncleaned condition with great patina. No holes. Just a few minor rust spots but no pitting. There is a bend on one of the top corners, A gentle dent in the brass top. The red lens has 3 shallow edge chips as shown.No cracks. Overall a very nice and rare antique nautical lamp. This item has been in storage near Mobile Bay, Alabama and previously belonged to my grandfather who worked at and retired from the shipyard in the early 1970's. The finds are sporadic at times, and not grouped or labelled. This lens sat alone wrapped in paper and reinforced with cloth electrical tape that had stiffened and lost its sticky. Unique clear lens Buoy Light with inner Red/Green sleeve and auto bulb switcher
This is the only one of this type that we have had. It features a plastic red/green inner lens(180 deg each) and has an automatic bulb switcher with four bulbs(all working) When a bulb blows the mechanism automatically rotates a fresh bulb to the top position. This unit also has the a light sensor so that the light will automatically come on at dusk. The red/green sleeve can be easily removed with two screws if you wish to simply have a clear lens light and likewise the sensor can be disconnected should you prefer a switched arrangement. The clear lens was manufactured by KOPP Glass of Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania and the buoy is approximately 23” tall and 12” wide at the widest point. The lens is 8 ¾” outside diameter x 7 ½” inside diameter x 7” high and features 7"ribs" above and below the main centre beveled band. The lens ... moreis smooth on the inside. The buoy light is ruggedly built from aluminum. Stainless steel, and bronze to handle the harsh marine environment. It should last a lifetime. The electronic switch unit is in like new condition. Early 1900's Marine Lamp (tugboat) W/ Green Lens MACBETH - EVANS GLASS COMPANY !
Up for auction is a great antique marine lamp with a green top and clear bottom lens. There is a 2" raised spot in the green lens part(probally how it got damaged) Could have been for a tugboat I was told from the previous owner. Name on the glass lens reads MACBETH- EVANS GLASS COMPANY MACBETH PITTSBURGH. It measures 12.5" across the front lens x 19.5" tall. In overall good condition. There is a crack in the lens. And a couple small bruises. THIS IS A RARE EARLY MARINE LAMP, the damage in the lens hurts, but still almost impossible to find these! Other than that, the exterior brass around the lens and the cast iron bracket and housing is in great condition other than some wear from age and use.
