I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds.At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. This would have been one of a set. One red, one green for the starboard and one deck mounted light for the clear light. Base is 5 1/2" x 10 1/8".

This is a matched pair of antique marine lanterns made by National Marine Lamp Co. I think they were used to signal other ships but this is not my area of expertise. They are wedge shaped with one blue glass lens and the other is red. The glass is very thick and ribbed and in surprisingly wonderful condition. They each are also marked with"Lense Triplex Trade Mark Dec 20 1910" which I believe is referring to the glass lens only. The Red lamp is marked"MFRD by National Marine Lamp Co New York" and the Blue has an oval metal tag on the back that says"Geo. B. Carpenter& Co Chicago" I don't know why there are 2 different marks as the lanterns are otherwise identical aside from the glass color. I am assuming they were painted black by someone at some point but if so it has been a long while. This set of three antique'TULIP' DECK PRISMS were removed from a large old San Francisco Schooner many years ago. From the Estate of a fastidious cruiser. They had been carefully stored for decades. They show signs of honest use, and would be wonderful for a traditional sailing yacht or Tall Ship. There are numerous photos showing their remarkable details and condition. Finding a full set of these antique deck prisms is MORE THAN RARE-It is virtually unheard of. They are actual original'Big Boat' prisms. Showing the careful mould craftsmanship of a bygone age. The three prism set will illuminate a large vessel- One in the forepeak or V berth and two in the main Salon. They measure a touch under 6 inches across the top and are very heavy. Viewed from above when installed on deck. They will show the wonderful fluted pattern ... moreof these Tulip prisms. If desired I can include the wooden trim surrounds which came with these. As a pattern when installing the prisms. Please note that the surrounds are very rough, and show much exposure, use and the effects of many sea miles- They are suitable only for use as patterns. Antique Triplex Trade Mark Marine Lanterns Circa 1910 Set Of 2
Here we have a set of 2 Triplex Marine Lanterns. These show a patent date of Dec 20 1910. I'm in no way an expert on these items but will relate what I do know: Each Lantern is identical in size/dimension. Measuring 11" tall by 7" wide. They are made of metal with glass lenses and brass or copper chimneys. The red colored Lantern has a RED Glass Lens The green colored Lantern has a BLUE Glass Lens. These are NON electrified lamps. Both Lanterns are in excellent condition considering their age. Please see my numerous photos in order to judge condition for yourself. I apologize if I'm not a wealth of information on these items. Antique Perkins Marine Perko Brass/ Tin Ship oil lamps light set
THis is an estate find. These are antique oil ship lights. There are makers tags that say Perkins Marine Lamp HDWE Co. Perko Trademark Brooklyn New York USA. All the glass is intact no damage. It appears to be brass and tin. THe lamp wick does work on one but the other I didn't really fool with to see. They are about 10 1/2" high and 5" wide. Nice set. Antique BRASS CABIN LANTERNS, Set of 2, Burns Candles, Early 1900's, 14" high
For sale is a particularly beautiful set of 2 Cabin Lanterns. They are made of brass and are quite ornate. I have seen these used on both old passenger ships and on old trains. These antique beauties burn candles. They have a spring that allows the weight of the candle to keep pushing up. Letting the candle self adjust. They would be wall mounted and have handblown chimneys. The chimneys are in perfect condition, showing no cracks or chips. Each stands 14" tall and are approximately 9.5" around the widest part of the brass cap. I'm listing these under maritime lighting as I got them with another set of lanterns that were marked with a White Star plaque. So I assume they had also been on a ship. In fact they likely came off of a White Star ship also, just before the White Star company started having them made with their own plaque ... moreon them. It's quite likely they were on the same ship just being traded out as the new lanterns came in. They were mounted just above the bunks. A SET OF ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN BRASS GIMBALED NAUTICAL SHIP LAMPS
A good example of a ships gimbaled lamp from the Edwardian era. The numbers on the base are AP9009 and the makers mark is almost visible. They have been rewired at some point and have a switch in the cord. They are set into a Finished Mahogany base. They could use a good cleaning and have the usual scratches and dings which is not unusual for there age. These are not an exact pair but very close. The lamp shades are included.
