Antique Clear Pressed Glass/Brass Whale Oil Lamp Only With Snuffers and Wick
This is. I believe, a lamp intended to be used to burn whale oil. The wick is unburned, so I don't think it was ever put to use. The screw on cap, snuffers, and two wick holders are brass, with a knurled top edge on the cap to enhance one's grip when refilling the glass vessel. The cap and two wick holders are 2" high. The glass vessel is 3" high with a protruding 1" long ground glass stub. The device in is excellent condition with no chips or dings. There are some light scratches on the glass. There is an obvious lack of whaling here in Colorado. So where did this come from? Well, it's part of my parents estate. In the mid-1960's(as soon as I went off to college) they bought a very old, actually centuries old farm on Grove Street in Millville, Mass. The place was a fixer-upper that had been in the same family ... morefor at least a hundred years. Has a handle on the top to hang. And on the bottom it fits into slots to hold a kerosene or oil with wick. Top opens. There are no nicks or chips in the glass but some loss to color on the red and green see photos. Extremely great piece and would be great in your home for lighting or patio or boat. This is a very nice antique early lighting oil lamp. The lantern has a satin paneled glass finish. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The lantern with the glass chimney on it stands 21" tall. Without the chimney and including the metal burner it is 12" tall. It is 6" wide across the middle and is 6" wide across the bottom. The metal burner is in good working condition. Overall this is a very nice unique antique oil lantern and would make a great addition to any collection. Selling a cute little copper lantern. All five panes of glass are individual. The hurricane is in nice shape with some nicks. No makers name that I can find. Says made in Hong Kong on the bottom. The side that opens does not have the original hinge. When at rest on a table the door stays shut just fine. The brass edge that held the hinge pin slips inside and. When you close the hasp, the door stays in place. You may want to put a hinge on it to get it to swing open like it is supposed to. Either way, perfectly serviceable as is. We use it outdoors with an outdoor candle and it has a nice nautical look. It has a wood and brass handle for carrying. Overall in good condition but could use a good polishing and a cleaning. The glass is all good but one small corner has some loss on the inside(see close up photo) Obviously there are some minor dings and bends in the ... morebrass. This is a copper lantern that measures 18" tall and 6 1/2" wide across. It has 6 glass sides with cut stars and vines? There is a glass oil lamp base, no wick or top that is fitted into the base of the lamp. the door opens at 2 two panes on a copper constructed hinge and latches closed. all solder joints in decent shape for its age, just one cracked pane of glass. Brass and Glass Antique Oil Lantern British Captain's Chief 1935 Fully Functions
This is one remarkable piece of history. It works too! This brass Captain's lantern for a ship was made in 1935. We have been assured this is the real deal. It has the oil lamp piece that comes out so you can maintain it then right back for those long trips on the sea. This is called the Chief light from Great Britain. It is a great size about 1 foot 3-4 inches high(guessing- it's not in front of me) Very sturdy with the strength bars all around and the glass is all good. This was very well maintained. The latch has been worn off so it closes with a wire loop. This is one I'd love to keep but business is business. With everything so dependant on electricity it would be a great idea to have some back up light that is proven and will last a while. Wish you the best.

Condition is very good with some imperfections as these lanterns each have two holes each in the side of each of the bases where they were to be used for electricity probably which is not present now-they have no bottoms(see pics) or burners(see pics provided of underneath and sides of lanterns. These Ships lanterns were are genuine and are not vintage or reproduction pieces but were used as nautical maritime equipment on a ship and as such are in period condition. THEY WERE A PAIR WHICH WERE PART OF A RECENTLY SOLD PROMINENT GUILFORD. CONNECTICUT OCEAN ESTATE. They are in an iron frame and housing, each has a slightly different'cut-out' design pattern around top dome and matched ... morebottom base-one is a cut-out circle design and one is geometric design(see pics) The frames are strong and stable holding the glass globes tightly and securely(see pics) There are rings at either side of the bases(see pics) The top of each lantern has a thick original iron ring in which to hang the lanterns up for lighting on dark nights(see pics) underneath the ring is a lovely original bronze finial cap under the ring(see pics) These lanterns are in period condition with wear and abrasion to surfaces as is seen and obvious in pics-view all pics provided. This great find comes from those days of wooden ships and pirateers. Copper base lamp is 11" tall and 4.5 x 3.25 x 2.25" approximately and was used on ships becasue copper doesn't rust. This lamp probably had a holder of some sort on a wall or table that held it in place. Lamp has a small"D" ring holder for carrying. Lamps of this age most burned grease or inexpensive oils. The burner does have rust but can be cleaned. It does remove easily. Glass hurricane is in excellent condition. There is a little lime spot on the base but can be cleaned away. This is the original patina. I have not cleaned this except to remove a bit of dust. Please examine the photos carefully. It still displays very nicely. The center cap in the top flips up and it also opens at the base of the top as well. There is an oil lamp inside that does have the wick. In the center there is a very thick ribbed glass lens that has no cracks. There is a brass anchor hook on the top and the bottom. No dents, nice vintage condition. Very large, the lamp itself measures an impressive 18 1/2" tall not including the anchor hooks at the top and bottom. Diameter is about 9 3/4" This sizable lamp displays nicely. Antique/Vintage Brass/Copper Nautical Maritime Oil Lamp with Beveled Glass
This antique brass/copper oil lamp is in excellent condition and has a beautiful patina. Only 2 tiny dings at the very top of the chimney about 2mm wide. It measures 13.5"H by 7" W. I can not find a makers mark. But I don't want to polish it to find out. Many antique dealers prefer brass or copper items in there natural aged state. The glass is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks and is beveled. Still has the original oil container with wick and the wick turner does rotate.
