It's one of the best ones ... moreI've seen. The main body ~ top/bottom is free of dents. The hanger and tie downs are intact. The wires or cage is there and in good condition. The glass is free of chips on the outside, has some of the little flea bite size around the rim on the bottom inside like they all do. And the bottom oil lamp part is there, the hinge works and it stays closed when you hold it up. I don't see a mark on the glass, but this looks like a Perkins lantern. At one time had a finish on it ~ I have left this, it does chip off if you care to totally remove it and just have that old zinc/tin look, but right now it has great patina! I have pretty much left it in"as found" condition, I wiped the glass off inside and out. It measures 8 3/4 inches tall with the top ring down and about 10 1/8 with it up. The base is 4 1/8 inches across. Also worth noting is the fact that the fuel reservoir on one lamp is taller than on the other. Consequently the shorter lamp is 4.5 inches to the top of the burner while the other one stands 5 inches tall. The lamp base measures 4 5/8 inches side to side and the fuel reservoirs measure 3.5 inches in diameter which would likely be the size of the hole in the bottom of the lantern into which it is meant to fit. As well there is a difference in the lamp chimneys. While they are hand blown, one is 2 5/8 inches at the widest point while the other is 3 inches wide and both are 6 inches tall. They are original glass in these fixtures since there still are remnants of the word"Perko" stencilled on the top of each chimney. This Is A Very Large Antique Lantern With A Kerosene Lamp. This Piece Is Very Large And Measures 23 Inches Tall. 9 Inches Wide, And 8 Inches Deep. I Would Date This Piece To The Later Part Of The 19th Century. Might Even Be From The Civil War Era. It Has A Chain On The Back That Was Used To Hang It On A Wall Of A Home Or Stand. Antique Early 19th Century Tin Three Window Punch Candle Lantern
This Is A Super Antique Punched Tin Candle Lantern With Three Glass Windows. This Form Is Quite Rare To Find With The Three Windows. It Is In Great Condition For Its Age. It Looks Like It Was Painted A White Color On The Inside A While Back. Maybe To Stop Corrosion From Happening On The Inside. Sometimes These Are Called Paul Revere Lanterns With The Punched Design Slits On The Top. With The Three Glass Windows When A Candle Was Burned It Produced Much More Light For A Larger Area. The Glass Windows Look Smoke Damage Free. The Three Glass Windows Look To Be Original As They Are Solid And Do Not Move. The Door Hinges Are Early And Work Perfect. The Door Latch Is Also Original And Latches And Unlatches Fine. It Has The Cleated Candle Cup As Seen From The Bottom Of The Piece. This Design Was Used In The Earlier Lanterns. Antique Nautical Anchor Porch Lights Sconces Copper + Tin Ship Lamp Fixtures
Up for auction is a Pair of Antique Nautical Anchor Porch Lights/ Ship Lights. Back plate with rope and anchor is heavy and appears to be copper(magnet does not stick) Lamp Shades appear to be made from heavy tin like some of the old whale oil lamps(magnet does not stick) Surface is aged from natural weathering and shows authentic time honored oxidation and aged corrosion likely from salt in the ocean mist. Both lamps need new wiring. New sockets and a small repair to the bar at the end that connects to the shade(i.e. an old tin washer, a nut and small screw) see pic where lamp rests on red measuring tape. Glass is thick, in nice condition, and original. You don't see a pair of Nautical Porch Light Fixtures like these very often. This is the only set that I have ever seen in years of antiquing and these are a matching pair. They will ... moretake a little work, but what a gorgeous set of lamp fixtures and a breathtaking anchor that brings forth images of Cape Cod and other amazing ocean coastlines. THis is an estate find. These are antique oil ship lights. There are makers tags that say Perkins Marine Lamp HDWE Co. Perko Trademark Brooklyn New York USA. All the glass is intact no damage. It appears to be brass and tin. THe lamp wick does work on one but the other I didn't really fool with to see. They are about 10 1/2" high and 5" wide. Nice set.
