Vintage Carved Wood Nautical Lamp Folk Art Sea Captain/Pier
Very unusual folk art lamp. The captain is standing on a pier or dock. Ducks to his left and the ducks are made with real feathers, hemp roped pylons to his rear, buoy behind him,seagull flying, ladder going up the pylons, wooden keg, fishing net and even a rat. The folk artist that assembled it has his initials on the ladder. Shade is original to the lamp and sort of a burlap look outside with a paper liner inside. Switch is 3 way and works, wiring looks ok. The 2 small ducks need adjusted. 26 1/4" to top of the harp, 18 3/4" to top of the socket, 15" to top of the highest pylon, base is 12 1/4" by 7 1/2" I've see n a lot of the carved wood sea captains but this one also has some extra details like insignia on his uniform. Fabulous Antique Ships Light Music Box Folk Art Piece Heavy Glass Brass Lantern
ALL Items with now be shipped INSURED. Please contact us immediately with any issues. This fabulous Estate Item is full of history! This ships lantern/light is actually a music box. Which is hidden underneath the top. The story behind this item is that ships lanterns and light fixtures were salvaged to make gifts. Much like upcycling is today. This light fixture/lantern was believed to be from a passenger ship, circa 1929. IT does appear to have been cleaned at some point, or this was possibly an inside lantern because there is very little pitting and wear from the salty air. We cannot confirm this story. But we assured the consignor we would share it with interested parties. The glass is heavy. Cut glass, with brass accents. The music box is semi-crude, but plays perfectly. When you look through the top of the lantern, you can see an embossed"Japan" ... morein reverse on the glass bottom. The light/lantern is not functioning as a lantern any more. All lantern parts have been removed. This is an AS IS auction- the age of the piece cannot be confirmed. But it is certainly beautiful! Measures 11" tall and 16 1/2" in circumference. large rare antique handmade Folk Art electric lighthouse nautical table lamp
This is a very rare large antique handmade wood and meta nautical light house electric table lamp. it is a lovely piece of nautical Folk Art and completely crafted and painted by hand. the actual lighthouse is made from metal and riveted together. the top watch tower is made from several detailed pieces of wood and has a handmade metal fence wrapping the edge. it has a clear glass shade with a carved wood and bronze finial. the bottom structure is made from wood with metal accents. it also has a light inside and both are operated from a switch in the back. the door opens and closes on hinges and is very well made. it is mounted to a rectangular wooden base. it measures 28 inches tall 18 inches long by10 1/4 inches wide. it's overall in nice condition and displays very well. it has normal ware from age and some paint loss on the bottom ... moreof the lighthouse cylinder. there is also a couple window panels missing on this structure. the lights both work wonderfully and is a great piece of nautical Folk Art.
