And the base measures 2 1/8" wide. Britian and the Orient. See our other sales for more finds. This vintage Brass Kerosene Lantern is u nused. Unassembled and still packed in its original Styrofoam. You won't find one of these in better condition. Note that the photos show the actual lanten behind plastic. Since I don't want to remove it from it's original plastic bag. The lantern's name plate says" CARGO LIGHT NO. 3954 GREAT BRITAIN 1939" A handle attached to the main body allows you to hang or carry the lantern and vertical grill work and a brass chain lock to open and secure the vented dome. There is a bottom handle to secure the lantern to compensate for the rolling ... moremotion of the ship. It measures almost 15" tall from bottom to top of chimney and 18 1/2" when handle is extended it is 9" wide. The lantern is constructed with copper rivets. Condition: REMARKABLE! Most lamps of this age show significant tarnishing and wear from smoke. Not this one. It has never been used and the latern remains protected in its original plastic and Styrofoam. You can see some beautiful patina from where this item has been exposed to air. The glass panels and dome are packed separately and have dirt/dust from storage.Though no cracks or chips. Old Antique Brass Ships Kerosene Light. T his piece is in g ood condition for its age. Shows some signs of use though. T he very top of the lantern has a dent in it and the handle has a light bend i n it. There are a few small dings on the out side. The glass in good condition no chips or cracks as far as can be seen. T he burner is in good condition as well. We aren't sure if this is the original burner. The burner comes out of the bottom of the lantern to refill it. T he burner is also missing 1 of the 3 clips that holds it in. W e are not experts on sailing lanterns but this is how it came to us. I t also looks like it can be hang or hung by the brackets in the back as shown in the pictures. T his is a nice peace of old time sailing history. 1914 Eli Griffiths & Sons Birmingham Brass Kerosene Wall Mounted Lantern
The burner of this lantern slides out and on the side of it is stamped Eli Griffiths& Sons Birmingham 1914. The Clip at the top of the lantern is stamped EG& S 1916. The brass lantern is intact and has not been restored. All the parts appear to be present. The slide which covers the opening to the burner adjustment needs to be reattached. The lantern is 16" high. 8" across the back and 5" front to back. Behind the burner is a white enamel reflector which is in excellent condition. The lantern is extremely heavy.

It is is very good condition considering its age! It has a very nice patina to it and all of the glass is still intact. It also has all of the reflector plates on the inside lid. This is important because there are reproductions out there and they do not have the reflector plates. Reproductions also don't have the lead flaps at the tops of the glass panels to hold the glass in. The other thing to look for is the data plate. Reproductions are usually thin and cheesy looking. This lamp has the nice thick data plate. I did my research before buying this at the auction and am 100% confident that this is an original. In fact there is still some soot in the corners of the reflector ... moreplates to indicate that it was used. Measurements are 24" tall and 14" across. This lamp is from England. The John Scott name was very popular the English maritime days. His name was synonomous with aristocracy. It has no dents or major blemishes. It doesn't have the original chimney or shade Otherwise; it is in very good condition. It has a double wick and two seperate adjusting knobs for each wick. VINTAGE PAIR BRASS SHIPS WALL MOUNT KEROSENE LAMPS",PERKO" & "ENGLISH MADE"
For bid is a vintage pair of brass kerosene wall mount lamps. They are made to turn so they stay level if they are mounted in a boat/ship. One is slightly larger then the the other and 1 is marked"Perko" The one marked Perko measures a little under 6 in. tall with a mounting plate that is 2 3/4 in. across. The other piece is 5 1/2 in. tall and the plate is a little under 2 1/2 in. across. The one that isn't marked Perko does have the words"English Made" on the wick turning screw. The Perko one has a wick and the other one doesn't. They are both done in heavy brass and have a nice patina. There was a sticker at some point and when it was removed. It left a shiny brass area but it should eventually turn darker once it's exposed to air. The Perko one is also missing a few prongs where the shade goes. There are ... morestill enough prongs to hold the shade. Nice pieces that would work great for the boat, garden room or a country room, you will just need shades which are pretty standard. Antique Brass Kerosene Running Lights
Made by Wilcox Crittenden and I took them off a 1947 44 foot wooden motor-sailer named the Seahawk that was built by Fred Smith in Sewaren. NJ. I believe them to be older. Even though they are brass the bottoms are pretty corroded(see pic) and they do not have the burners. These lamps have a wonderful patina and would make beautiful decorative pieces for your nautical collection or an awesome addition to any vintage boat. Dimensions are about 7.5 X 12.5. Vintage Starboard Ship Kerosene Lantern Light Lamp Port Blue Glass Brass 21" BIG
Vintage ship's starboard lantern in a unique tri-plex shape. One of the largest I've seen at 21" from base to finial. 11" x 11" square with the typical curved front. Thick blue glass(not an interchangeable light filter) with horizontal grooves. Brass trim and a brass finial with hanging ring. Great"keyhole" vent holes throughout. Suffers from an untidy paint job and is in need of some updating. Missing original kerosene lamp and has been converted with a light socket. Needs new electrical cord. Brass has a lovely patina and there is still some vintage kerosene soot on the inside of this lamp. There is a small spot on the bottom by a switch of some sort that corrosion has eaten through the metal. But it's repairable and not endemic to the rest of the lantern. Glass is free of cracks or chips.

Very heavy– especially the base– old brass kerosene lamp. 8 ½” tall, 3 ½” across the base. It will stand alone, but is fitted with substantial pegs high on two sides that fit into angled slots of a wall-mounted bracket, and would presumably remain upright in an ocean swell. How far it would swing would of course depend on the height of the chimney. The wick is clean; the mechanism works smoothly; the dome at the top is signed with a‘T’ over‘M’ The surface has darkened fairly uniformly. Very good condition. There are a couple of dents, fortunately, given the dark color of the surface, not very visible. The more obvious one is a linear 1” dimple. No cracks, corrosion, scratches, or repair. This Is A Very Large Antique Lantern With A Kerosene Lamp. This Piece Is Very Large And Measures 23 Inches Tall. 9 Inches Wide, And 8 Inches Deep. I Would Date This Piece To The Later Part Of The 19th Century. Might Even Be From The Civil War Era. It Has A Chain On The Back That Was Used To Hang It On A Wall Of A Home Or Stand. It Looks To Be Made Of Tin Or Very Oxidized Brass. The Back Has A Copper Color To It So That Is Why I Say It Might Be Brass Or Copper. This Piece Was Found In An Old Barn In Connecticut. Up for sale is a nice old WWII 1940's WEDGE brass railroad& railway train signal Lantern/a light RR regiment cargo signal lantern/ four sided brass cage type of lantern with 4 sided glass/ lantern has raised brass grating that surrounds& protects the outside of the lanterns glass/ top rounded brass smoke stack hood with a top brass& wooden handle/ lantern has a slide out removable kerosene oil fill tank with an adjustable wick/ name on oil tank reads WEDGE/ old coil spring type latch on door/ solid brass wirer grating type that covers& protects its glass well/ lantern is in very good shape overall& in very good working condition/ overal a really well made solid hand held lantern. Overall condition of lantern: NO DAMAGE/ Old brass lantern with old age brass patina along with some very minor issues of some oxidation ... morespots on it in a few small areas such as under its top hood located just around its top smoke stake area and a small little bit also around its top handle mounts. Overall its a pretty clean brass lantern/ Also I think these light oxidation areas will clean off nicely with a small tiny brass wirer brush or some very fine steel wool/ I left lantern alone and as is over the years with its old ageing patina/ the old wick turns up& down nicely/ The inside of this old lantern looks to be pretty clean and it does not appear to have much aging. Overall this old lantern looks to be very well made and very well kept over the years. Lantern has hardly NO visible lead solder on it only just a little bit around its door hinges and oil tank ring handle all welds on it are factory done/ Also the lantern looks to be mostly bolted together with little small brass factory screws and little brass nuts: such as bolted on its brass& wooden handle and its bolted on brass smoke stack hood covering and it has bolted on brass wire grating also. This Vintage Bulpitt lantern is complete but the isinglass or mica chimney is slightly damaged and the font is slightly off center.May have been dropped.This is an antique Bulpitt 1941 ceiling oil burning fixture or maritime oil lamp. It is made from iron, brass and porcelain and has a wonderful patina from age.the removable burner has lockable notches and knobs to hold it into place and a key to adjust the flame on the side which hangs on a chain.there is also a place on one of the two arms that the key can be held.The top opens on a brass hinge and locks shut at an ornate brass hinge, which has a removable pin held by a chain.It has normal ware from age and works great,the lamp alone measures about 13 1/2 inches up and down by 10 3/4 inches wide. Vintage unmarked 9" high brass lantern has a brass carry handle(makes it 9-3/4" high) to carry or to hang it, and a small Simplex kerosene burner with E Miller USA wick advance adjustment knob which works. The removable fount does not have a refill cap. And I have not been able to remove the wick top for refill. Buyer should assume that may not be able to remove. We have not tried WD40. Etc, or maybe I do not know how to remove the top. This is a cylinder shape. App 3" diameter across the base. No dents or dings, there are a very few small signs of use, on little mark on the lid, this has been a display piece for many years. This little solid brass lamp has a glazed hinged door glass app 2-1/2" high by 2-1/4" wide. Looks original, and there are 30+ small holes punched in the base for draft, There is an adjustable ... moretop that screws up and down to act as a damper. The door has a sliding pin closure. Hinge has no problems. Not sure what this was used for: maritime for a ship binnacle light. Early automobile? Neat little lantern in very nice shape. Lots of Photos!
