Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ ... morelight. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. The rubber gasket and other rubber pieces are inside but in poor condition(see photos) Please look at the photos carefully to see what is included. The lantern/ lamp is untested. Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and ... moredo not know if there is a bulb inside. Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. Vintage brass bronze boat quadrant pulley ship anchor
Not quite sure what this is but it is well made. I believe it is a boat quadrant but I could be wrong. I believe it is made of bronze or something like it. It is not steel. You could see some very shiny areas poking through so I believe this would shine up nicely. It is about 11" x 11" There was also a bronze key attached with it but not quite sure what it is for. If I needed one of these I would seriously want this one. It is a beauty. It weighs just over 6 lbs. I really wanted to shine this up but I didnt. If it doesn't sell its going to sparkle! Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. These antique nautical lamps were used extensively for anchor lights, and after its life in a lighthouse it may have been used at the top of the mast during heavy fog or in the night to keep other ... moreships from running into the boat. It is missing the burner and bottom plate- it may have been wired for electric after the use of whale oil lamps declined, but please note that only what is in the pictures is included. For sale is a vintage/antique brass and copper maritime ship's lantern made by Anchor in England. It's in great shape. Obviously used and showing normal wear and tear with lots of patina. The lantern has been retrofitted with an electrical ceramic light socket although it does not come with a cord. Beautiful globe- would be a wonderful light fixture for any collector or nautical buff. This antique solid brass anchor light No.1235 Great Britian 1919 hung in a home on Douglas Island in Alaska for many years. Originally it most likely was used as an oil burning lamp with a globe which was removed for converting to electric lighting. The brass name plate and fresnel lens are the outstanding features that give this light character. The brass has aged nicely and still is good looking.

Brass does have some staining and tarnish on it and underneath has more tarnish that is green in color so it will need polishing this lamp. Cleaning and polishing of this lamp will be the responsibility of the buyer to do. Removed years ago from a large cruising yacht. This Brass SHIP'S OIL ANCHOR LAMP remains in remarkable condition- There are numerous photos showing it's details and condition. Very unusual and practical configuration. Solidly constructed of heavy brass and thick Fresnel glass. Highly domed top opens for cleaning. Knurled thumbscrews allow access to the main body. Interesting articulated swivel ring on the downhaul bail prevents lamp stressing while the vessel is rolling. Very thick'lighthouse' type Fresnel lens is marked with a triangle and the letters'GGG' Definitely worth some research. The heavy Fresnel lens provides significant magnification of the flame. Chimney shows attractive light rings from being blown into the mould. Usable with quality Lamp Oil or Kerosene. Burner works well. With the rowel marked'Made ... morein Holland.SA-VU' Save You' Lamp shows showy signs of having been used on shipboard. Being cared for well. Body of the lamp measures 9 1/2" inches tall, and about 13" inches overall, from the top of the lifting ring to the end of the downhaul line ring. Very heavy and substantial construction. Surface has always been kept polished. And is a very HANDSOME burnished patina. In a dark anchorage this lamp definitely could'SA-VU. It would be a a handsome. Practical lamp to hang in the Salon or from the boom of a traditional yacht. A wonderful gift for the Ancient Mariner. Or to bring some firelight to a Nautical Den or Cabin.
