It is rather large, and I believe it is made out of copper and brass, based on the way it has tarnished, but I am unsure. The burner itself, and the glass pieces appear to be in good shape, but the exterior needs to be refinished or polished. This would be an excellent project for a restoration, or just a very cool nautically themed piece to have around the house. I will be selling the second of these lanterns in a separate auction with similar details. The only difference between this one and the other is that this one has a piece of curved metal around the glass over the burner on the inside, and the glass cover is shorter. This Tung Woo lamp was originally a decorative feature on a Knob Creek electric table lamp that we bought at an estate sale. It was not altered for the wiring of the Knob Creek lamp. Early. Copper& Brass Starboard Side Ships Lamp. This antique lamp was found at an estate sale in Henderson. NY on the eastern shore area of lake Ontario. The lamp is being offered as found for parts or refurbish or keep as is. The lamp stands 8.7/8" tall as is. The soot catcher or chimney cap is missing. The copper housing shows a lot of aged patina. There is a crack in the copper in the pierced trim that goes around the chimney(see image 9) The bottom door also has a split or crack(see image 5) The curved, green glass is in excellent condition for its age, just a few fine scratches and some dirt. The font/burner appears to be in very good condition, no holes or leaks, and is marked DIETZ CONVEX. Pair Vintage Copper Brass NEPTUNE NR Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical Maritime Cage NR
This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. What a wonderful weighted and hinged brass and copper candlestick or chamberstick from the late 1800s-early 1900s! Heavy. Solid brass and copper consruction, it features a decorative handle, a copper drip pan, and an ingenius weighted and hinged shaft, which allowed the candlestick to remain upright, no matter how much the ship rolled. The base is held in place with a modern brass bolt and metal nut.the original is long gone. Beautiful, heavy, clever. Well made, and has a patina to die for. This particular candlestick came from the estate of the granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, who owned a house in Tulsa(one of many around the world) Unsure of maker. Has the normal wear that one would expect from a piece of this age. And some minor staining. Antique Brass and Copper "Not Under Command" Lantern
This is a beautiful lantern from the HMS Leith. Which had a long history of service, including D-Day, and can be read about in this link) The lantern bears the brass name plate of the ship and the lantern maker- M.P. Galloway Limited Manufacturers. It also has a brass plate with the Galloway crest and the number 236. Which I assume identifies the type of lantern or some type of lot number. A third identifies it as a lantern used for"SHIP NOT UNDER COMMAND. The lantern is 21"tall(26" with the handle) and 13.25" wide with the side rings. As you can see from the pictures. The lantern still works, and I included angles that show the broken glass, plus the other side where the broken glass is not noticeable. If you were to use this for lighting, you would probably set aside the red insert to enjoy the warm glow through the ... moreclear, thick outer glass. The wide end with the glass measures 17 1/2 inches wide with the glass being right at 15 inches wide. The top mounting pipe we have installed is 12 inches long. The connecting pipe and ceiling mount we have added to this light were custom made for us. And are made of cast brass. The ceiling mount is 3 1/2 inches wide with four mount holes. This light has been re-wired with all new UL-Listed parts made by Westinghouse ... moreElectric. Our newly installed lighting hardware is rated for any voltage under 250 volts, so normal house power is not an issue. The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb with a wattage of less than 150 watts. Our wiring exits the center hole of the ceiling mount and we provide about 30 inches of extra wiring. When we find these lights. They are painted. Antique MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIP LANTERN Red Glass Copper & Brass
Up for bids is a great marine piece- an antique ship lantern. This nautical lantern is made of brass and copper metals and a beautiful piece of red onion glass. It has a sloped top which keeps water and rain from the inside of it. The red onion glass is encompassed by protective brass pieces which prevent it from being damaged when it swings. This lantern also has both the top pivoting brass hanger. AND the bottom one. I see very few of these lanterns that were made with these, and if so they no longer have the bottom one. At some point someone has removed the kerosene drum/holder and started the process of making this electrical. I have not attempted to complete this. It is fitted with a very simple bulb holder and a turning switch which still turns and clicks. This has in no means detracted from the beauty of this lantern and will make ... moreit simpler to electrify if someone chooses to do so. This lantern is in fantastic vintage condition. It has wear associated and common with its age but overall really nice! If someone chooses to polish this it will shine like new. The glass is in very good condition. It has some wear marks. Rough spots, or minor chipping on the rims/edges but no breaks. The wear is only from where it is fitted into the copper ends. These marks are not seen or noticable when the lantern is put together. The glass itself has some air bubbles but only visible upon close examination. The sloped top has several small dents in it. The two copper caps look very good and I do not see any dents or tears in them. The brass hangers and glass protectors have only age patina to them but otherwise perfect. The measurements of this lantern is 25 1/2" when hanging from the top of the hanging attachment to the tip of the bottom attachment. The glass is approx. 6 1/2" high by 8 1/2" around. I've taken this apart to show the insides of the pieces and the area where the electrical work was started. Also. When I ship it will come separated like this. Some tarnish. Scuffs/etc and three brackets screwed into the base. A small ding or two that I wouldn't call dents, but you may. Approximately 10 inches across the bottom and 19 inches tall- 21 inches if you count the top handle- more if you count the bottom handle: I do not know if the oil burner works or ever was supposed to work. For sale is a GE Novalux projector/floodlight/spotlight for around 1929. The bell is made of copper and the arms are solid cast brass. These lights were sometimes used as a searchlight on ships or to light up the piers at night when the ships came in to be unloaded. They are becoming increasingly hard to find and are a very visually stunning piece once cleaned up. These lights are complete minus a small amount of wiring work. the light sockets are there but as in the one picture the cords were cut when they were removed so just add a plug and they should work. All the others I've seen the inner mirror is smooth where as these have a faceted mirror.There is some wear on the mirrors but they are solid as well. On this project we started out with a common original brass passageway light. The light was soda blasted to remove the original paint. And then it was polished. Next, we fitted the light with a 10 inch polished brass deflector cover and we made a screw in brass plug to hide the original conduit hole on the side. We then added a 1/2 in threaded hole on the top of the brass housing, and added 24 inches of polished copper pipe and fittings. The ceiling mount is galvanized steel painted to match the brass light. To finish off the project ... morewe added all new UL-Listed wiring and bulb holder. The bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 60 watts or less. All electrical parts used will work on any voltage under 250 volts. We gave you 36 inches of extra wire to make your power connection. From the bottom of the globe cage to the ceiling mount. This light is 32 inches. The ceiling mount is 3 inches wide and has four mount holes. You can make this light longer by adding more copper pipe, or it can be as short as 9 inches if you reduce the pipe we have installed. The cast brass cage spins on and off freely and holds the deflector cover and glass globe in place. The glass globe is undamaged. Large Vintage Copper& Brass Nautical Neptune Maritime Oil Lamp Lantern This large vintage Neptune nautical oil lamp is crafted of copper& brass. The outer housing is copper& the interior is lined in brass. With a brass lamp. The top is hinged& clasped with a chained hook. The lamp lifts out on two brass arms that extend to the top of the lamp. The interior lamp is complete& functioning. All glass is fine& the lamp displays very nicely. There is some slight age greening to the copper& one small dent on the back of the frame. Next to the window. It measures 14.5" tall excluding the handle& 18.5" tall including the handle by 9" wide, including the brass hanging brackets by 6" wide. This is a really unique Antique Neptune Kerosene oil lamp. Is little different from the ones I have searched& It seems to be in very good condition for it's age. The ship lantern stands at a tall 15" without the handle and is 8" wide. The oil glass pot comes out from the top by unhinging the front side then the lantern and flipping the top backwards. With a hook and a latch with a chain for closer. The glass brass oil lantern stands at 4" tall without glass lamp. Seems to be heavy about 6 to 7 pounds. Made out of brass with copper rivets. Has a handle. Also four glass panels. It has a new wick. Not sure if the wick is original it does appear unused. The only problem is on the bottom there is writing so you should be able to use polish cleaner on it. I did not want to put anything on this. Low Starting Bid. International bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding for a shipping estimate! Up for sale is a HUGE Large Vintage Antique Nautical Ship Maritime Lantern Light. This light is heavy. It weighs a little over 12 pounds. I'm not sure if it's copper or brass. It's also very LARGE. It measures about 13 1/2" tall, 13 3/4" wide and is approximately 9 1/2" deep from each corner to the back. It was a originally a kerosene or oil ship's lantern. It's an amazing light! It's in excellent working condition, it's been newly re-wired& has an antique switch in the front(converted to electric) The switch is turned to right each time you want to turn it off or no. It has a removable red port glass(see photos of it turned on, with and without the red glass) The clear glass has a small 1/2" chip in one of the ... moreribbed sections; it's a very heavy thick glass so this does not compromise anything. Near the top of the lamp there's an emblem that has the numbers"3883" There is also some etching on both the clear and red glass. I wonder if this belonged to a military ship. As most items on those ships were marked with serial#s etc. The writing on each glass piece says"DHJE 3883, No. 654, E.31.5.61" It's not very noticable and you can't see it unless you really look; it's not seen when the light is on. Condition wise.it's vintage! There are a few dings& dents. Some areas of wear etc.but considering it was a ship light, it's going to have a weathered old look, which I personally prefer. It is approximately 27 inches tall on the stand and approximately 20 inches deep. It is hard to measure due to its shape. All the pieces are there that I can tell. It is a very cool piece of history.
