Antique ship nautical boat electric lamp light. Brass bronze coppper? Oakford
Up for auction to U.S. customers only is an old ship's light with Fresnel glass(no chips or cracks to glass) It stands 15 inches tall and the wire cage is 8 inches across. I am not sure if the primary metal is brass. Copper or bronze- or a combination-but a magnet doesn't stick to it. It is very heavy. It is made by Oakford. There is a light bulb socket inside but it probably isn't original and, without the cord plug, I can't test it. If it was originally electric powered, then the wire outlet on the side looks like it held a much larger power cord. The lid screws onto the top for access to the inside. I'm not sure how it was used on board the vessel- some other listings refer to it as a mast light, others describe it for use on dock pilings, others say it lit the passageways on the ship. If anyone knows for sure, let ... moreme know and I'll add it to the listing. Overall it seems in very good condition with a few relatively minor scratches to the lower finish and, of course, the green discoloration which some people call patina and want it left on the piece so I didn't try to clean up that section(new owner can do that) I don't know anything else about this item so please ask questions. Antique Solid Brass Boat Lamp Early 1900's from Staten Island
This lamp may be handmade. It has a shade and it was made to hold a wick and kerosene. But the key that pulls the wick up is missing. Still it is a nice addition to a collector of maritime equipment. There is a piece of tape holding a white sticker: Old Brass Boat Lite $56- and then three initials that I cannot make out. I found it in my aunt's attic. She grew up in South Jersey and her father worked a sloop. Her husband was captain of the ferry that ran back and forth from Staten Island to Manhattan.

It still displays very nicely. The center cap in the top flips up and it also opens at the base of the top as well. There is an oil lamp inside that does have the wick. In the center there is a very thick ribbed glass lens that has no cracks. There is a brass anchor hook on the top and the bottom. No dents, nice vintage condition. This is a nice brass bow light with red and blue fresnel lenses that I purchased at an estate sale in upstate New York last year. It measures approximately 9" in height excluding the ring at the top. 5" in width and 7 1/2" in depth including the brass flange in the front. A flap opens at the bottom to access the kerosene lighting device. There is no maker's name on this lamp but a little research would probably reveal who made it. In my opinion this item is in very good condition; however. There are two things you should know. First, there are numerous spots of verdigris on the right side of the flange and to the rear of the red lens. These are clearly visible in the photos. I'm sure these could be removed with a little brass polish. Second, one of the brass clips that holds the lighting device in place is missing. ... moreAgain, please check the photo. It appears to be complete with burner and glass chimney. The hinges need to be soldered(they are barely hanging on) There are gray paint splatters on the lantern and plenty of patina. It has a place on the back for wall mount(I think) The handle is bent and dented but the lantern itself is in pretty good condition. Antique Brass Ship's Oil Lantern. Looks like it was never used. Very nice condition; only one small dent in the wick assembly. And that can probably be pushed back from behind the guard very easily. There is no maker's mark or logo on the lamp. But there is an"RV" and an anchor on the wick turn knob. The glass chimney appears to be original to the lamp. Dimensions: 12 7/8" overall. 5 3/4" from back of mounting plate for the gimbal to the outside of the lamp. Chimney measures 6 7/8" in height and is 3 1/4" in diameter, the lamp body measures 7 1/2" tall and is 3 1/2" in diameter and 4 1/4" total width including the gimbal mounting pins that project 3/8" from either side of the lamp body. For bid is the Old Nautical Lot pictured. There is a new Perko replacement plastic anchor light cover and a used one. There is a pedestal anchor light with cracks in the cap& a used cap. This one has holes for a flag(approx. 5 1/2" gap) There is a transom light with wear that did light 12V. There is a chrome plated brass gas cap with chain(1 3/4" across at threads) Last are 4 flag holders with different angles and hole sizes. One is marked Perko. It is a flush angle mount that someone drilled drain holes in the base. The hole size is just under 1 1/4" The other is a straight flush mount with a 1" hole. The straight outside hole is approx. 1" and the angled outside holder is also approx. 1" Most items will need re-chroming for actual use. Buyer pays actual shipping by weight(5 lbs. and location.

No maker's mark unless under felt. Used with some very minor surface abrasions and slightly dull. All this can be polished out. A couple of very tiny dents. Some lacquer voids. RARE Eastlake style brass ship's gimbal wall sconce candle holder. Designed for use as a wall sconce or for table top. No maker's mark. 9+7/8" tall. Weighs 2lbs. Very ornate. But I would classify the design work more as Eastlake than Victorian. Used with very minor surface abrasions, tiny dings, minor oxidation. The gimbal could use some lubrication. Otherwise, complete, no cracks or significant issues, no repairs, unrestored, unpolished. No provenance on the piece. Purchased as part of an estate lot with other nautical items.
