Fireplace masonry was then built outside the exterior walls. The mantles were(and still are today) mounted flat/flush onto the wall surrounding only the opening of the fireplace. This is a rare early fireplace mantle designed to wrap around the sides of the interior masonry. As well as decorate the front masonry opening. It is a rare full three dimensional period mantle. This mantle can be refitted to early masonry in a period home or be used in many other creative and decorative ways in any home. Paneled doors can be made for the opening to house a widescreen TV and full entertainment center or used in a kitchen for display and storage. Crafted into a closet. Etc. The uses are endless. Hand crafted using high grade/select Quarter Sawn White Oak Planks. All Hand-Raised Panels-both front and sides. Applied half-round Fluted Columns. Mantle was disassembled many years ago. The old white paint was carefully removed. It is in clean. Ready to assemble condition. Fabulous color. Grain, and patina. Note the spectacular very large rays throughout.
