This specimen post dates the Mission Oak American furniture movement which came about a decade later. This has the original William Morris English Arts& Crafts movement design. It is defined with three applied floral carved motifs on its top frieze and double stained. Leaded and textured glass doors. The case is made from very thick select cuts of solid tiger oak. It is in a very nice old well oxidized original finish. This finish takes on a reddish dark amber hew that is impossible to replicate. Antique Larkin Mission oak leaded stained glass doors bookcase Stickley era
Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture. Antique Gunn Barrister Bookcase 4 Section Oak w/Original Glass Smooth Doors
We are pleased to offer to the market this great antique barrister bookcase. This ca. 1901 case bears the Gunn Mfg. Co. tag with a mfg date of 1901. Constructed from tiger oak this piece is solid and in amazing condition for the age. The doors have the original glass and the finish is also original on this. This measures 34 1/8" wide x 14 1/8" deep x 55.5" high. The top three sections are 8.75" high inside and the bottom section is 10.75" high inside. These have a book depth of 10.5" There are a couple of chips in the veneer on the back sections and there is some light bubbling to the finish on the top as well as paint speckles on the top. There are some age appropriate scratches as well. This is being sold as a local pickup only. If you would like to make arrangements on your own to have this shipped.
