There are a few minor pieces of molding missing, one keyhole cover is missing, and is in good overall condition for being 130 years old. I am selling an solid wood antique book case with carved claw feet. It was my grandmother's and was given to me when she passed away. I love this bookcase but I have no where to keep it and it has been sitting in storage since it was given to me. It is probably mahogany but maybe walnut. It is has two glass doors and locks. I should have the key. It has cast iron spoon shaped shelf pins which from what I have researched are from the early 1900's. There is a ding on the outside of the right door which is visible in the pictures and it is missing the door pull but is in good condition given its age. Both of these sets of doors lock and one key is included. Behind the wavy glass antique doors are three shelves. The bottom two are stationary but the top shelf adjusts via a brass pin and hole system. The shelf depth inside the upper cabinet is 10.75″ As mentioned this piece was made by the company Waring& Gillows. A company known throughout England for creating quality, luxury furniture pieces. Being made around 1900 would have been just after the time that the two original companies(Gillows of Lancaster and Waring of Liverpool) joined. As you will see in the pictures the number 47843 has been stamped in the side of one drawer. Overall this antique English walnut bookcase is in good condition. As mentioned it has been naturally distressed over its life and sports dings. Dents, and stains all over. The close up pictures provided give you a good sampling of this. Lovely glass doors with wood fretwork and step back design with it's sturdy accompanying stand or base with two drawers and a writing or work surface at 30 inches above the floor. This gorgeous early twentieth century piece stands 88 inches tall and measures 39 inches across at it's widest point and 21 inches deep, front to back. It travels in two pieces, with the top bookcase section measuring 58 inches tall by 39 inches wide and 11 inches deep. Wonderful set of 4 bankers bookcases measuring 5' 7" tall when stacked. This set included everything depicted. The top cap, 2 small, 1 medium and 1 large cab and the bottom stand(All depicted) The shelves are 34" wide and all 11.5" deep. The glass doors fold into the tops of each shelf and all work as intended. There are some minor blemishes here and there, almost un noticed with the exception of the nicks and scrapes on the front right corner. Antique Larkin Mission oak leaded stained glass doors bookcase
Hello. Up for auction is this striking antique solid oak, leaded stained glass, double door bookcase with scroll feet, with four adjustable shelves, and original hardware, with key for locking. It is solid oak, and in great shape for an old piece, including the original finish. Book case was made by Larkin soap company, of Buffalo, NY at the turn of the century, although there are no manufacturer's marks on it. It is indeed a Larkin. No breaks, or cracks in glass. Larkin was an early 20th Century soap manufacturer, who started giving away furniture as promotional items, and had so much success, they started making, and selling their own line of furniture. This beautiful book case or curio cabinet is in wonderful condition. There are no scratches and all leaded glass is unbroken and there are no cracks or chips. There is hand carving at the top of the front edge fthat gives the cabinet very attractive added detail. This bookcase has been in my family for three generations. The Art Deco styled leaded glass doors work perfectly. The door on the left has an interior latch and the door on the right has a keyed lock.
