The shelves measure 14” high and 12” high inside, so this is large for a 2-shelf. According to the labels, they are “Pattern 813” and “Pattern 811”. Both are also marked “Grade 299”. This is a really interesting quarter sawn barrister bookcase. I sell lawyer's bookcase(sometimes called a stacker) but have not had this model before. Three sections tall with raised paneled fronts on each section door. The top section is a drop front desk with a nice fitted interior. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide. 47 high, 12 deep. This is an especially nice quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Many of these barristers were made by Globe Wernicke or Macey-I do not know who manufactured this bookcase. Piece is quite unusual with leaded and beveled glass doors in each section. In addition. The top is a pretty carved design rather than the more common plain design normally seen. This is a rather unusual 5 stack barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a stacked bookcase or lawyer's bookcase. Executed in quartered quarter sawn oak and with the top unit having leaded glass(although all stacks are interchangable if desired) Additionally. The piece has a drop front desk(with fitted interior) as one section and also four drawers as one of the other sections. The other two sections have original glass and are a different height(graduated) to accommodate different size books(one is 11 high and one is 13.5 high) In wonderful original condition with a smooth, even finish and no evidence of'alligatoring' Note the original brass pulls on the drawers-I even have the original key for the desk. This is a really great quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyer's bookcase or a stacker. We have refinished this piece and it has a smooth, even, and authentic finish. An unusual bookcase-note the following: ball and claw feet, drop front desk with fitted interior(waterfall style) 3 storage drawers(1 in the base and two below the desk) a graduated unit with the bottom clear(original) glass being 13.5 high and the leaded glass(original) top unit being 9.5 inches high. Unusual quartered quarter sawn oak barrister bookcase stepback graduated-14959
I have sold probably a hundred or more barrister bookcases over the years. I look for unusual models and thought I had probably seen every combination but here is one I have never seen before. In quartered quarter sawn oak a graduated stepback unit that is very functional. Excellent original smooth even finish. Note the bottom section is a stepback style and deeper than the other sections. The bottom section is 15.5 high and 11.5 deep. The middle section is 13.0 high and 9.5 deep. The top barrister section is 11.0 high and 9.5 deep. Most unusual is the very top piece which is a two door bookcase portion with a shelf in the middle. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacked bookcase. The overall size of this bookcase is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 70 high. Adorable half size barrister stacked bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase. Piece is executed in quartered quarter sawn oak.
