The section also has the original antique wavy glass and bands around the base of the section. The back is in excellent condition with no rippling or warping of the wood. Antique Barrister Bookcase 4 Stacking Bookcases With Bottom Drawer
Up for auction is a lovely antique barrister stacking bookcase. This lovely piece has 4 stacking bookcases. With one drawer on the bottom. The piece measures 34" wide, 57.5" tall, and 11" deep. All the cases slide open with ease still. One of the cases has a small chip along the edge of the glass, the chip does not go all the way through the glass however. There is normal wear and tear on this piece given the age and use, but only minor wear and scratches. I have shown various pictures of the like. There are holes drilled into the back of one of the cases with writing, it is also shown in the pictures. The drawer is missing the bottom of it as well. Let me know if there are any other questions. I am listing three stacking bookcases this week so please check my other listings. Here is an Exceptional Antique Sectional Bookcase made by Gunn Manufacturing of Grand Rapids. Michigan in the early 1900s. This 4 stack bookcase is in Original finish Mahogany and is designed in the Queen Anne Style with broken arch top and pad/slipper foot on cabriolet legs. The two bottom sections meaure 11 inches tall, the two top sections measure 9 inches tall. The Bookcase measures 69-3/4 inches tall overall when fully assembled. The widest area is at the base, measuring 34-3/4 inches wide and 14-1/4 inches deep. Each individual book section measures 32-3/4 inches wide and is 13-1/4 inches deep. When facing the bookcase, the left side of the base and the back leg was cracked and repaired(See photos) The sections fit tightly together. There is general scuffing to the finish. 67" tall. 33" wide, 25"deep. Two bookcase sections 14.5" tall. One 12.5" tall. Style seems to be Mission crossing over to Mid Century Modern. Shaw Davis was one of the top furniture makers of high quality office furniture. They employed well known designers and are known for their Mid Century Modern styles. This piece is very well built high quality solid walnut. Great orginial condition and finish. It has seven stacking sections.
