The height from the floor to the bottom of the fold down writing surface is 28 ½” A total of nine adjustable, removable shelves are found in this phenomenal secretary bookcase. The dimensions of the eight adjustable side section shelves are 9 ½” in depth by 15 ¾” in width and the one larger adjustable shelf measures 10 ¼” in depth by 19” in width. Fancy, yet elegant details are found on this gorgeous Walnut Victorian Aesthetic Period Triple Section Bookcase Secretary with Fancy Brass Spindle Gallery. Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Great stacking bookcase circa 1940 from the machine age start of the midcentury modern period. It has a sticker on the top front that reads ART METAL JAMESTOWN? NEW YORK USA- Bookcase is metal but original finish is made to look like mahogany. As you can see one window needs replaced and there is some wear to the finish and spotty rust spots but overall very presentable. No dents. Both top and bottom remove leaving 3 matching stackable sections. Doors work nicely. Overall size is 52" tall by 32 3/4' wide by 18" deep plus a little additional for the knobs. Broken down each section is about 15" tall plus another 3/8" indented section for the next stack to fit on. Actual working size-that is the amount of room you have for the books giving clearance for the door and door mechanisms are 17 1/4" deep. 30 1/8" ... morewide by 12" tall. 3 Section Mahogany Bookcase
For sale is a magnificent mahogany triple bookcase dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s with a wonderful braided carving detail. This piece of fine furniture is all one piece measuring 6 feet in length. 5 feet in height, including the feet(which I have not measured but they are approximately 8- 10 inches high) and about 18 inches deep(I did not measure but will and will revise if necessary) The feet are removable and attach with 3 or 4 pegs each. The pegs are very substantial, but one is broken. This bookcase has wear commensurate with its age. But a good polish would make it look fabulous. There is a spot of white paint on top and some scratches, but they would only be visible to someone tall enough to see the top without being on a ladder. The shelves are all adjustable and the doors lock, although one lock is a little tricky. Someone ... moreinstalled lights in this piece, which I have never tried to turn on and do not recommend using because they will generate heat if the doors are closed, but I have not removed them. This piece must be shipped due to its size and weight. I have not weighed it. But an estimate only is 75 lbs. This bookcase is available for pickup. Antique Globe Wernicke Stacking Bookcase. 3 Sections& the Top. Top section has the original leaded glass. All is good. Top has some wrinkels in the veneer. There is no veneer missing. All glasses are original& wavy. 3 brass knobs are there. Metal bands are there. Wood is quartered oak. All the metal scissors are there too. The sections measure on the outside 10 1/2, 12 1/2& 14 1/2 inches high. Depth is 11 1/4. Width is 34 inches. Inside measures are 8 1/2, 10 1/2& 12 1/2 inches high 32 inches wide& 9 1/2 inches deep. Still displays well. Macey bookcases have an interesting history. Otto Wernicke of Grand Rapids patented the original elastic bookcase around 1892 and produced them in his own plant under the Wernicke name until around 1902. That's when he formed a partnership with Globe in Cincinnati and bookcases using his patent were produced under the Globe-Wernicke label. However, Wernicke was not happy with arrangement so he went back to Grand Rapids and purchased the factory owned by Fred Macey in 1905 calling it the Macey-Wernicke Co which was shortened to just Macey in 1907. offering a beautiful Wenicke Elastic Bookcase in magnificent original condition and finish. the cabinet is approx. 53" tall by 34" wide. The top 2 sections are approx. 12" deep and the bottom bookcase section is about 14" deep. all 3 sections sit upon a base section, and there is a cap section that sits on top of unit. there is absolutely no damage to this marvelous bookcase. all the glass doors open and slide as designed. And there are no cracks or damage to glass. the bookcase is in its original finish. the lawyers cabinet has aged wonderfully, and has dark rich patina to the wood. there is a couple smudges of paint smear on the side of the top case section(see pic 2) and on the left side of the middle section. the lase recorded patent date on label is 1897. Antique 3 Section Stacking Lawyer's Barrister Bookcase
Lawyer's or Barrister's stacking sectional glass-front bookcase from the early part of the 1900's. Dark wood exterior. That I believe was refinished about 20 years ago. The interiors are natural(light) wood. The wood and finish are in very nice condition. All of the glass doors operate correctly, and serve to keep valuable books clean and dust-free. There are no water rings or other marks in the wood. Bookcase is comprised of 5 pieces; a base unit that stands approximately 9 inches from the floor. One tall bookcase section that is 14.25 inches tall, and two regular bookcase sections that are 10.50 inches tall. The fifth piece is a decorative top cap that finishes off the unit. The bookcase was made in the U.S. by F.E. Hale Manufacturing in Herkimer New York, sometime after 1907. Hale Manufacturing is still in business today making ... morebookcases, in Frankfort NY. The bookcase sections still retain the original manufacturer's label. The assembled bookcase stands 46.50 inches tall. 34 inches wide, and the bookcase sections are about 11 inches deep, while the base and top cap are about 12 inches deep. Old Globe Wernicke 3 Section Bookcase. Pick Up Only
This is an old Globe Wernicke three section bookcase. It is a craftsman piece.solid and sturdy. Unfortunately. Someone painted it. It is heavy and I believe the wood is mahogany. The Globe sticker remains affixed to one section. There are no splits or cracks to any of the pieces. The larger middle section is 36" high. 20" wide, and 10 1/2" deep with three shelves. The larger corner section is 36" high, 10 1/2" deep and wide with three shelves. The smaller corner section is 24" high, 10 1/2" wide and deep with two shelves. This is for local pick-up only. I would consider driving to meet the buyer if it's not a great distance!
