Some minor fading to top, chip on very bottom of one leg,but otherwise in exceptionally fine condition. Hard to find these Little Journeys bookshelves in better condition at any price. If the potential buyer does not mind reassembling this piece( four screws and four keyed tenon pieces) I can ship relatively inexpensively. The ... morelectern rack is missing the single piece of wood of bottom molding. The lectern opens and closes as desired. It has a gadroon edge. It is finished in a dark walnut stain. I think the wood could be walnut the more I look at it in this dark finish. The overall size is 21 inches square and 35 inches high overall. Each section is 10 inches wide, 7 inches deep, 11 inches high and 12 inches high on the bottom shelf. It is missing a few of the brass tacks, but overall it is complete. The bottom of one of the sections has a crack and oval stain, which has no effect on the bookcase. Shipping starts at $185 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.

The shelf has splitting visible on both sides which is not unusual for its age. One of the Book Ends has bad hinge hardware which needs to be replaced.The corresponding hardware mate on the shelf is in need of replacement as well. The Pins for the hardware hinges are missing but can be replaced making functional the folding-in feature of the Book Ends. This is a hand tooled. Great stacking bookcase circa 1940 from the machine age start of the midcentury modern period. It has a sticker on the top front that reads ART METAL JAMESTOWN? NEW YORK USA- Bookcase is metal but original finish is made to look like mahogany. As you can see one window needs replaced and there is some wear to the finish and spotty rust spots but overall very presentable. No dents. Both top and bottom remove leaving 3 matching stackable sections. Doors work nicely. Overall size is 52" tall by 32 3/4' wide by 18" deep plus a little additional for the knobs. Broken down each section is about 15" tall plus another 3/8" indented section for the next stack to fit on. Actual working size-that is the amount of room you have for the books giving clearance for the door and door mechanisms are 17 1/4" deep. 30 1/8" ... morewide by 12" tall. After you get away from the side brackets-a book or so-you get a little more than 12" Each section weighs about 45 lbs These were the start of the metal stacking bookcase era-you'll find later issues that were made for the US government in gray. I believe they could be off a Bookcase. One of the doors is missing rollers. One door is missing glass. And, one door is missing a finger pull. Top edge has a 1/4" groove in the center. This is an antique American oak bookcase with original(wavy) glass. The piece probably dates to the early 1900s. Mostly quarter sawn oak with area on front edge in veneer. Fair to good condition; some veneer has peeled off. Piece was refinished once previously. Four shelves. Antique metal brackets/pegs for 2 shelves(9 pegs) Adjustable holes in bookcase. Note that this item is safe in climate controlled storage. Also note that the glass has some tape on it; the large specks in the photos are not damage. Lock hole is there. J2919 This is a quarter sawn oak open bookcase circa 1910. These are really hard to find. Overall it is 16 inches deep. 22 inches wide across the front, and 437inches tall. The shelves are 16 inches deep and 18 inches wide in clearance. The clearance height between the shelves is 10 1/2 inches for the lowest shelf and 9 inches for the balance. It would make a great entertainment center. It is constructed of solid white oak and has been lovingly refinished in a warm medium oak finish by our refinishing shop to provide many more years of enjoyment. Rare, Antique Shaw Walker Barrister Bookcase, glass front, 3 piece Pick up, SHIP
Rare. Highly collectible Antique Barrister bookcase from the reputable Shaw Walker company. Stackable 3 piece, glass fronts. I am not sure of the type of wood, either cherry or mahogany- this piece is from the early 1900's- it has been well preserved and taken care of. The front and sides have been painted with a black Ethan Allen paint to match the other furniture we have- the inside of each unit and the back has not been painted. The measurements are about 49 1/2 inches tall(stacked with the 3 pieces) 34 inches width, and the depth is 11 1/2 inches. The top has a small scratch in the paint that measures a few inches, but the wood is not scratched as far as I can see. You can either touch up this paint scratch or remove the paint all together and restore to the orginal wood. Crafted of solid golden mahogany, the top a single thick plank edged by carved molding over two levels of bookshelves. These are set at two distinct heights(10" top, 12" bottom) that allow it to comfortably hold most average size books. The sides are crafted of four shaped mahogany slats, each secured to the case with rounded screws, achieving the breezy and transparent overall aura associated with most fine pieces of the Edwardian period. The entire case spins with remarkable ease on thick dowel system inside of the case, presumably utilizing some kind of bearing inside for to account for the smoothness ... moreof the rotation(we have not taken it apart to see exactly what the mechanism is inside, but it is very strong and very smooth) This rests over four splayed feet locked together with a forged iron cross, resting over original caster wheels.
