Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Great stacking bookcase circa 1940 from the machine age start of the midcentury modern period. It has a sticker on the top front that reads ART METAL JAMESTOWN? NEW YORK USA- Bookcase is metal but original finish is made to look like mahogany. As you can see one window needs replaced and there is some wear to the finish and spotty rust spots but overall very presentable. No dents. Both top and bottom remove leaving 3 matching stackable sections. Doors work nicely. Overall size is 52" tall by 32 3/4' wide by 18" deep plus a little additional for the knobs. Broken down each section is about 15" tall plus another 3/8" indented section for the next stack to fit on. 3 Section Mahogany Bookcase
For sale is a magnificent mahogany triple bookcase dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s with a wonderful braided carving detail. This piece of fine furniture is all one piece measuring 6 feet in length. 5 feet in height, including the feet(which I have not measured but they are approximately 8- 10 inches high) and about 18 inches deep(I did not measure but will and will revise if necessary) The feet are removable and attach with 3 or 4 pegs each. The pegs are very substantial, but one is broken. This bookcase has wear commensurate with its age. But a good polish would make it look fabulous. There is a spot of white paint on top and some scratches, but they would only be visible to someone tall enough to see the top without being on a ladder. The shelves are all adjustable and the doors lock, although one lock is a little tricky. Someone ... moreinstalled lights in this piece, which I have never tried to turn on and do not recommend using because they will generate heat if the doors are closed, but I have not removed them. This piece must be shipped due to its size and weight. I have not weighed it. But an estimate only is 75 lbs. This bookcase is available for pickup. If, however, it is to be shipped to the east coast, I can recommend a very reliable shipper. It stands 51& 1/4” tall to the top of the back. 34& 1/4” wide and 12” deep. The two upper sections measure 11” tall and the bottom section is 9” tall. It weighs 90 lbs. Rare, Antique Shaw Walker Barrister Bookcase, glass front, 3 piece Pick up NJ
Rare. Highly collectible Antique Barrister bookcase from the reputable Shaw Walker company. Stackable 3 piece, glass fronts. I am not sure of the type of wood, either cherry or mahogany- this piece is from the early 1900's- it has been well preserved and taken care of. The front and sides have been painted with a black Ethan Allen paint to match the other furniture we have- the inside of each unit and the back has not been painted. The measurements are about 49 1/2 inches tall(stacked with the 3 pieces) 34 inches width, and the depth is 11 1/2 inches. The top has a small scratch in the paint that measures a few inches, but the wood is not scratched as far as I can see. Still displays well. Macey bookcases have an interesting history. Otto Wernicke of Grand Rapids patented the original elastic bookcase around 1892 and produced them in his own plant under the Wernicke name until around 1902. That's when he formed a partnership with Globe in Cincinnati and bookcases using his patent were produced under the Globe-Wernicke label. However, Wernicke was not happy with arrangement so he went back to Grand Rapids and purchased the factory owned by Fred Macey in 1905 calling it the Macey-Wernicke Co which was shortened to just Macey in 1907. Offered in this auction is a Globe Wernicke mahogony bookcase top. 3/4 size. There is no tag on the underside of this unit to tell us but we know from the four small tacks, this is where the label was, it has been torn off, but it does reveal its made by Globe Wernicke and its obvious that the wood is mahogony. This auction is for the top only, the base is in one photo but its only there for display purposes, the base will be offered in another auction. This top an the base being offered in another auction is definately a leg up on putting together a 3/4 size mahogony stacking bookcase. This oak bookshelf is in good condition with some dings and scratches from years of use. The unit is five pieces consisting of base. Three shelves and top. At some point, the back panels were replaced, so I do not know the manufacturer. Outside dimensions are 50 1/2 inches high 34 1/4 inches wide. The top two shelves can handle books 10 inches deep and 11 inches high. The bottom unit can handle books 10 inches deep and 13 inches high. RARE 3/4 width(25" Globe-Wernicke top in solid Maple(style 598 1/2) In great shape considering it is 100+ years old. Original finish w/original tag. This is a size"D" depth top. Little dusty and could benefit from some light cleaning. There are scratches consistent with age and there appears to be some uneven aging to the stain on the top(as if there were books placed on the top and not moved for years. Exposing some of the top to sun and other parts not so much) You should be able to see this in the pictures. No water, mold damage. I also have the corresponding base for auction as well.
