For sale is a great piece of grand rapids furniture. This is a old glass door bookshelf. In great shape for age. Comes with original wavy glass. Measures 66"x38.75"x15" Very old. Comes with minor scuffs. Scratches and ring marks from glasses inside on shelf. The back left leg has been professionally repaired. Some cracks on leg. Very very stable and very very hard to see. Does come with key for lock. Does turn and work but sometimes comes undone so I think the lock might be alittle worn. Great old piece. Never come across these large cabinets from grand rapids. Vintage Oak Lawyers Stacking Bookcase Door Glass and Hardware GRM Grand Rapids I sold a vintage mission lawyers bookcase awhile back and the bottom section had been damaged so I sold only the remaining sections. This is the door and hardware that was removed from the bottom unit. It is the glass door that hooks on the sides of the bookcase unit with the hardware for the sides of the bookcase itself. The bookcase it was removed from was oak so this also should be oak. The glass is in perfect condition. No chips or cracks. The knob is not original. The door is in wonderful condition and has the hooks attached on the sides as shown. It measures 32 3/8' X 13½' X 13/16' I did notice that this door is higher than the other ones were and it was on a bottom unit. The Grand Rapids Ball Bearing Barrister Bookcase, oak, 3 stack
This is an antique three-stack barrister bookcase with base and cap produced by the Grand Rapids Desk Company in Muskegon. Michigan. All glass is intact, and doors work. The bookcase stands well and holds a full load. Bottom of three shelves pictured here has modest water damage and lacks a top brace(See images) This does not impede use. And is not noticeable when full of books. Previous owned stripped the original finish with the intent of refinishing. It remains stripped with bare oak exposed- which is rich in color and pattern. Attractive zig-zag patterns on the metal side straps are clearly visible. Straps are a little worn and bent in some places(See images) A great bargain barrister. Ask me questions before bidding. This is a large 4-stack barrister bookcase. It has a removable top and sits on a removable base. Each of the 4 stack units can come completely apart. So exercise care when transporting or moving. It was reported that the manufacturer made the units to completely break down for easy flat shipping purposes. Please note the Mother Of Pearl knobs on most of the glass doors. Each front glass assembly works smoothly when opening and closing. One of the stacks is much larger than the others. This is an early piece. It has the remnants of a tag on the back and a"G" an"M" are visible. The triangular label is torn however it looks like an'R" is on the wood. Perhaps that means Grand Rapids Michigan. This is the top section for a Gunn. Grand Rapids stacking bookcase. Mission style. It is solid quartersawn oak. full size. 34" x 12" x 3" it is in good conditions with scratches and a very small chip on each end at the bottom of the roll where the door below would meet. very small defects. could be refinished or maybe just restorafinish would do the trick. you are buying this just like i found it and just like it is. check out the pictures and ask questions.
